Henry Cavill at 00:39 :) He actually did his stuff for free because he so badly wanted to be in the game and didn't want to take funds away from development.
The Main casts mocap and everything was done between 2013-2015 back when they'd only raised about 50mil or so so people saying all the money went to them isn't true.
They did like a couple weeks worth of work if that.
The budget has gone to the workers and building the engine.
All footage shown is in engine no cgi is used. Also all those ships at the beginning area really there and hold physical space they're not just hit boxes like other games.
Fun fact that's the first time they've showed a boat
The engine was first being developed on the cryengine then moved to lumberyard and now is it's own engine. But yeah the barebones of it is the cryengine which is why it looks really good like crysis. From the start Chris Roberts wanting everything to be pretty and at the time the cryengine was the best looking out there. I don't think the system requirements once fully optimized will be too crazy. It's a heightened cryengine. Like Morrowind from way back when is the same engine as Starfield just upgraded. That's what this is.
Captain at the beginning is Skully from X-files her kids where kickstarter backers and said she should try and be in the game.
Mark Strong was who gary oldman is talking to probably notice him from Shazam or The kingsman
    Guy that plays gimle
Ben Mindilson(spelling) is the director of a space station hes been a token bad guy as late most famous as the bad guy in Rogue one
Onion knight from game of thrones and behind him was A girl famous for her role in the Underworld prequel
Andy Serkis plays the main bad guy think warrior Achilles type and is an Alien
As your other comment SQ42 is a 26 chapter game from what I've heard each chapter is 3+hrs
and Star Citizen is the MMO portion.
Yes chris roberts made all the wing commanders freelancer and the movie. Yes it's a giant model of the Retaliator a capital ship bomber.
The aliens at the end are called the Vanduul they're main bad guys. So the start of the video is the battle of Vega where they first see the main force of the Vanduul fleet and the humans are promptly slaughtered. You play one of the survivors of the battle and plaything through it should be beyond amazing.

Star Citizen is the multiplayer universe and Squadron 42 is the singleplayer campaign. SQ42 also is the game with the biggest cast of well known actors ever. And if it remembers you of Crysis, well, that was the CryEngine in the past, but so heavily modified, it is now the Star Engine. There is a Star Engine Demo also from Citizencon this year. Down here ccgod said it already.
I would not worry about the frames. The game will only now be polished and optimized. I guess a 3070 will do just fine.
In my opinion, the music is one of the best ever in a game. Pedro Camacho sounds almost like Hans Zimmer.

Chris Roberts started that crowd funding campaign a loooong time ago. And he is actually building 2 games ... A single player Campaign ("Squadron 42") that takes place (in Lore) a few decades before the Second game... which is a huge MMO space sim ... ("Star Citizen"). You can obviously play one without the other, or just one of them... there are small connections however in the sense that we will travel to some locations that also appeared in the Single Player campaign, however most of the structures will look different or eventually have different owners, or be abandoned... as decades passed between the 2 games.
Also a small symbolic link between the 2 will be that if you complete a certain percentage of the game and fly a special military ship later on in the single player campaign , you will get that license for that non civilian ship model in Star Citizen as a symbolic gesture of appreciation you know. But at the end of the day, one game will be a very Story rich single player Campaign... the other is a Sandbox , complex, highly sophisticated space simulator with thousands of players, working economy and pretty sophisticated NPCs.
I would say its definitely the most ambitious project in gaming history.

P.s. The music... I think its setup for the Trailer more than for the action of the game... I think it will be a bit different and always dynamic with type of missions and action that takes place. Since the music doesnt shift that much during trailer as scenes change, I dont think its same as the game, more a Trailer mix, small chance Im wrong but dont think.

Have to add a small correction to my original post... I said action between the 2 games in lore is separated by a few decades, but I recalled it wrong, apparently only 8 years pass between Squadron 42's campaign and the MMO. Either way the rest remains valid, locations can change owners and looks in 8 years for sure. Some will be deserted, others maybe thrive, we will see.

I certainly held the line. Back in 2013 I bought a Hornet Ghost (stealth variant of the classic UEE frontline fighter) and a Gladius (small fighter) for 240€. And I have actually not played a lot in the whole time because I don't want to be biased when it is done. I understood as early as when they had the first playground to fly on two small maps, with the first iteration of the physics engine, that they are going to make this a real deal and not just another arcade space shooter. I hold on to the feeling what its like to turn off the safety and avionics while heading into an asteroid field and turn around with the whole ship flying backwards to shoot at the enemy behind me and then use the boost in the right moment to hide behind one of the rocks. And the joy when I killed myself from over G and my ship kept flying.
Brother, if you really don't know much what this game is about, I highly suggest to dive into the last citizen con but especially to watch the engine demo. Really, do the engine demo!
And if that is interesting to you, it is worth to look for dev logs from all those years where they explain what was necessary to build this game. It was build based on the old cry engine which was not at all made for this. They basically took over the engine and made a new one out of it and developed all kinds of tools to actually be able to fill this vast space with things.
If anyone complains what it takes so long, I must say those are truly clueless brats^^
Seriously, Star Field took 7 years and from an established studio that did not manage to really expand their engine but even made steps back in some areas... If Star Citizen will take twice the time, it will be more than "ten times the detail". lol
In that sense your idea about this platform was certainly right. Its a unique engine, but the main branch will be the Star Citizen MMO as a long term project, as persistent universe, where all the players are in the same game world. There will be only one huge server mesh with full scale solar systems for the players to spread out and build bases, go mining, do piracy or play war with the UEE against all the evil folks.

Squadron 42 is a trilogy. This is just the first part. Star Citizen is the MMO. So people can go there. And since SQ42 and SC are built on the exact tech, all the planets, environments you see in SQ42 will be ported to SC.
Same with ships. SQ42 happens 8 years before SC in in-game lore. We are getting a second solar system in SC Pyro, we have Stanton. Next system over is Nyx, which has already been worked on. Then is Odin the system from SQ42.
With the amount of content in one solar system and the game loops coming 4 solar systems is a huge player space

As you said, many of the ships in the game definitely have a modern-day military styling. But they also have quite a few ships from alien manufacturers that look unrecognizable to what we have today. This is based on Earth people in the future, so it would make sense that our style would be carried forward 900 years in the future.
Squadron 42 is the single player story campaign. When you finish the story, you gain your citizenship in the UEE and venture out into the multiplayer world of Star Citizen.
The game engine for both games is Starengine. CIG purchased a Cryengine license from Crytek to build their games and heavily modified it. Crytek sold a special license to Amazon which then became Lumberyard. Amazon converted their license to open source and rebranded it to Open 3D Engine. CIG ported over to Lumberyard, and heavily modified it. Now Starengine is its own engine and I believe CIG intends to sell it although there have been no official announcements.

Star Citizen (SC) and Squadron 42 (SQ42) both happen in the same universe (and same game engine), just at slight different time periods. SC is an MMO, SQ42 is just single player (and yes, all this time, the company has been making both games at the same time... and you can try SC alpha right now)
SQ 42 is I think about 20 to 30 years earlier than when you supposedly start your SC adventures. But they both are near the year 3000 (around 2950 to be more precise).
Star Citizen is a long, long, long, long (loooooong) way to being finished, but SQ42 should be an indication of the type of game they are aiming for SC.

Small correction, regarding the you need a nuclear powered pc, I have a potato system. AMD FX 8350 8-core (check how old it is), Motherboard is an old ASUS Crosshair V formula, (check how old) Generic 16GB memory DDR3 1600/1866 (not even top of the line old) Had a Nvidia 970, just recently now a 1080 Nvidia GPU card that was given to me, Windows 10 x64, 3 SSD's. (one holding just SC) with voice attack, Track IR 5 , discord on. (Got to add , my AMD FX CPU is watercooled)
This is all on purpose for a good 5 years now (my older system before current system ran early versions of SC well also, I joined SC in 2013) this was all so I can see if the alpha game would be unplayable with current old components at some point, I have yet to see that happen. Here I am still able to play SC with shite specs. Don't get me wrong, gameplay is not as fluid in cities, for me and my system specs it takes a few secs to load assets but after still get decent FPS speeds on good days in cities (15-25) but much more FPS when I fly to space (35-55). this is all in Star Citizen part (MMO) most of the development resource has been allocated to get Squadron 42 done, even the alpha has yet to be optimized.
All that I have mentioned can happen with even the more powerful badass systems out there, since SC is not even optimized as mentioned.
Once Squadron 42 (single player experience) is finishd and out the doors, then full development will go into Star Citizen. (the MMO part)
Squadron 42 will be more stable, polished and optimized game that will run even on old shite systems like my current setup..
