David, yes please make video on travel NP salary. Very hard to find how much NP's can make on an assignment. Also how long they work, shift wise(what are shifts like?).
This is so exciting!! I’m waiting to see if I’ve been admitted to NP school this year. When my kids are grown and in college Ill be 47 and Id love to do some travel to high need/remote areas!! Life’s an adventure!
This will be my first time looking for a travel assignment. Your tips are very helpful. What I really want to know is how the taxes play out? If you could make a video about that would be great. Overall you’ve given me some good information. I am now about to apply to a couple more agencies. Thank you
Hey! Thanks for watching. This was my very first video I ever posted in RUclips haha! Taxes can be a pain. I would recommend getting a CPA involved. I set mine up as a business- LLC with S corp, pay quarterly taxes etc. It ends up saving you the 7% self employment tax.
any experience or know anyone who does locum tenens with pets? This is my challenge personally. I consider letting my brother rent my townhouse for cheap in order to watch my pets, but he will be working long hours and I feel unsteady letting them be without me for weeks at a time.
Hi! I do not personally know anyone who travels with pets. However, before I go on assignment, I am usually asked if I am bringing a pet with me. I don’t think it would be a huge deal! Unless you have like a pet horse 😂
Thanks, David. I would also like to hear your input about what happens at the ends of your contracts. Do you frequently get offered long term opportunity after doing temporary contract work? What is your response/approach to these offers if so?
Hi! Thanks for watching. Usually, I have my own housing. However, I also have had shared housing. They are usually upfront about housing before the assignment starts. And I don't think it would be a problem to travel with children.
There are PRN jobs for NPs. Most PRN NP jobs don't have a set shift requirement, and will allow you to work when needs arise. Depending on the facility, you can stay pretty busy with PRN work.
Thank you for posting this. there are very few nurse practitioner travel blogs/vlogs. this really helps!
Thank you for checking me out! I realized there are like zero channels about this, which is what prompted me to start!
I have been a locum's NP for the last 7 years and love it. I had 20 years of experience before I started, and currently make $90/hour for a local job.
Hey there! I have lived in several remote Alaskan villages! Truly an AMAZING experience - glad you got to live that life!
