Happy to return the favor and make your guys' day too!
Funny -- I've just, in the last month or so, rediscovered PB and Banana -- I have a banana almost every day, but lately I've been craving peanut butter with it. I figure I need the protein and amino-acids (from nuts) maybe. Been going a llittle bit overboard on it, maybe, but no need for the bread -- just straight PB on banana, holds me over for a good long while.
I completely relate to the stress of mechanics diagnosing your vehicle -- I'm dealing with alot of that and it IS stressful even just as a local thing. But it is a sign of a truly good and honest mechanic -- they don't want to just "throw parts at it" and hope it solves the problem ( they still get paid either way so why care?). Especially if the problem is intermittent and re-occurs at a really inconvenient time.
I understood that the clacking/clicking noise would have been coming from the CV shaft where the grease had leaked out from the cover. The noise is revealing that it's life expectancy is shortened -- how short? Who knows? A 3/4 Ton Van should use reasonably durable components, so you may have awhile yet.
These things can go a long time and deteriorate slowly -- it would be ideal if you could re-grease and somehow seal it again. The friction and heat are what will kill it.
Other than that, I'd say just avoid sudden throttle increases/ acceleration especially with the wheels turned a lot. Mostly parking manoeuvres in tight spots are likely the worst for it - or stopping and starting on hills with your fully loaded van. And no burnouts! Wishing you well.
    Cheers!...from North Vancouver

Totally agree with you on the mechanics, it's always stressful but we're lucky to have found a good and honest one. And thanks for the advice on the CV shaft, we'll definitely keep that in mind and try to avoid any sudden accelerations.
Hope you're having a great day up in North Vancouver! Cheers!

The mechanic is talking about the CVJ- constant velocity joint, look that up so you understand. The ball joint is worn out and needed to be replaced , mechanics aren’t always exaggerating what is wrong, it’s your choice to take their advice or not. It helps if you understand that vehicles do require maintenance.

I hope you get more subs, you really deserve it and don't understand why you don't have more subs. This is such great content. I know this isn't ideal, but if you can get one of your videos to go viral like Snow and Curt did with "The Scariest Moment in Vanlife" I think they gained most of their audience from that. For some reason people like to click on that kinda stuff. Hopefully, nothing bad happens but maybe if you can orchestrate some kind of tragedy, that's not too disingenuous, where you're totally safe, you could get some traction lol. I'm not a mechanic, but sounds like that clack is coming from a bad 'coxim' (Idk the name in English), probably from the gearbox.
It should be a simple task, if not were by the fact the original parts of your vehicle are hard to find here, as you already know.
Maybe in São Paulo you have a better luck with it, because the market there is a lot bigger. In the case of you wanting to change it here in Brazil.
If you stop by Curitiba again, I recommend you to go to Costelão Curitibano, to eat some ribs and drink beer, it's a fkng classic. In the paranaense coastline try to not skip Morretes and Ilha do Mel.
And if I were you, I would take Santa Catarina as the cherry on top of Brazil instead of Rio, it relatively has a good amount of natural beauty, but with a lot less chaos, which is also important, if you know what I mean.
Again, good luck with your journey through our 'peculiar' land.

@the.vandersons Wait, something occurred to me. They would not test in front of you, if the final result would not actually fix it.
Unless they would change extra parts outside of their diagnostic, as the one I said, f. ex.
It's just that the movement of your motor, to me, looks too loose. But maybe it is just the way it is.
I think they're honest, but that doesn't mean they would not charge you a kidney for it.
Anyway, the rule is that you try at least 3 budgets.
About the vegan stuff, yea I know where you can find some good restaurants. It's in India.
You are in the south of Latin America, enjoy the beef and seafood. Being here is sort of rare, right? So enjoy it.
That reminds me of another curitibano classic dish, carne de onça (jaguar meat), it's raw beef, goes very good with booze. Look it up.
