If you're new, my name's Amelise, I'm 21 and live full time in my van (my parents do aswell!). I have a little dog called Gigi who travels around with me❤️
This week I thought I'd show you how I built my van from start to finish.
This took about 1.5 years during the lockdowns and was a good distraction for me! I had many days where I wanted to give up on the build, because it was so mentally challenging at some points, especially in winter. However, now I have my tiny home and I know how to fix everything if anything goes wrong in it!

Note for myself and other builders: if van is going to be used during cold season and heated from inside, then first layer on the floor should be thermal insulation. Like polystyrene (EPS) or at least sound insulation mat. Warm wood placed against cold metal will start to collect condense during cold season and wood will start to mold or rot.
Лучше вспененный каучук суммарной толщиной не менее 20 мм приклеить к металлу на сплошной слой клея. Лучше ещё толще. Между металлом и теплоизоляцией не должно быть воздушного зазора. Минеральную вату или другую вату не стоит- она промокнет и металл будет ржаветь при контакте с нею.
That is exactly what happened I believe with the mould.

also you cant have any exposed metal in the inside, that connects to the outer shell. This is because the moisture on the inside will be attracted to the metal if its colder and cause drips. This is where the mold can come from. If you have insulation for heat, then cover that with a vapor barier, then it should prevent it. That is why you should use battening wood into the metal, then the walls into the wood, it avoids you putting the walls on going direct into the metal shell of the van.

I'm so amazed by your strength and determination, as well as your work ethic. I'm 44 and have worked outside doing construction for 20 years and now I do restoration work as professional painter. In all those years, ago you show more than so many grown men I've worked with all my life. You and your parents should be so proud of your accomplishments in such a short time of life. Congratulations to you young lady for not giving up, I admire your patience as well, that's something I'm really working on myself. Ame, I’m a marine engineer and I’ve worked on yachts, superyachts and military ships, and just wanted to say what a great job you’ve done! Seeing as it’s your first time, you’ve produced something amazing, so if you ever get strapped for cash and fancy getting your hands dirty again, I’d say you could easily get work building and refitting yachts.. There is loads of day work available on yachts in the SoF especially places like Antibes, Cannes, Marseille etc.. All the best in your endeavours

@@TCat-ve9qi yes she says that in her videos & directs you to certain people. Most men won’t take on a van conversion with instructions & all the parts. She researched it & did it & now living in it. That’s another thing some men couldn’t handle.

Has anyone else just stumbled upon this beautiful woman going to beautiful places and binge-watched her channel? lol. She's smart, cool, funny and has an amazing way of really making it as though she's talking directly to us, like we're along for the ride and everything flows together so well. I love her choices of stops. I wish I could do this. Not sure if I could make a go of it.
Of course you can do it, all the research is at our fingertips and it's the " will" or " no will " that determines outcome. Go for it. ♥️

You really are an artist ( that's what my mom said ). For me, results never betray the process. The struggle for a year and a half is something to be proud , and it has paid off beautifully.

Hi Ame, let me start saying that what you shared on that video is simply amazing. The conversion from Van to RV. Insulation, electrical, plumbing, AC, structural wood and aluminum work, flooring, finish fine carpentry, solar panel installation and the list goes on and on. And you make it look like all it was a piece of cake. That ain´t no joke Ame, what you did, and all by yourself, it sets you up just one step below the genius cat. I love how many uses you are able to get out of your shower area. And knowing how to repair everything if something should go wrong is always a big plus.

I don't have much experience with carpentry etc, but I do myself handy jobs at home, so considering that I want to calculate total time and cost. Plus, I can hire a pro for electrical and other stuff.

Finally found a build with the exact model van I want. Definitely going to try this myself, I'm a cabinet maker with some plumbing and electrical experience and I still doubted myself, massive props and thanks for the inspiration.

I've lived in a Citroën Berlingo since the beginning of the first lock down in March 2020. Its a small van but iv insulated it and have a Maxx air fan and have a double mattress topper.Also I have a 200w Perlight solar panel. I'm really impressed that you have done all the wiring with the full setup. I can relate in most things in your video but your knowledge and motivation is incredible

Very impressive. For someone who didn't know what they were doing, you did a fantastic job.......right up to the pink cupboards :). That's one thing I would have done differently. But then again, it would have taken me 10 years to do what you did. It would have taken me forever to figure out everything you had to do. Great job!

So awesome. I have built 5 boats, 2 vans, 1 classic car, and my cabin. I had no experience but just went for it. I often tell people you can sit and overthink it. But when you make your first cut it's game on! My lady always says I want to build this or that but always plays victim to "wishing". Wishing I knew this or wishing I knew that but never makes the first cut. Thanks for sharing. :)

Great job! I am very impressed. You're very clever! Not an easy job but clearly you were able to power through and figure it out. My only concern would be some of the wiring especially under the car. Hopefully its insulated so it won't get stripped over time.
