What could it be that when the float goes all the way up even after adjusting the height through the screw knob thing and the water rises above the float and goes into the overflow?
OMG! Papa Joe!!! I am a 70-yr old woman who thought I was going to go STARK RAVING MAD listening to the toilet run for the past 2 weeks. The maintenance guy in my bldg came & told me it was the big plug at the bottom of the toilet & I needed to buy a new one. WRONG. I could see there was nothing wrong w that plug. So I carefully followed your instructions . You instructed us to click off the top of the gray plastic bit & then unscrew the black part of the tank thingy to the left . So I got it open & saw the other white plastic part was clogged w weird gunk. I removed those nasty chunks w a needle nosed pliers & rinsed out the white plastic thingy with a glass [as you demonstrated] in case there were additional mineral deposits. WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!!!! Bless you kind sir for your clear & concise demonstration. I still cannot believe I repaired the dang toilet when the maintenance man had NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT lol 🤣 Blessings to you! 💖💓💞
Went over my 85 year old father's house and he told me he had called a plumber because his toilet would not stop running. The plumber was going to charge a $150 just to come and check the problem. I quickly went on RUclips and found this video and fixed the problem for $3.50. Without this video I would have gone and bought him a new fill valve for about $30. So not only did this video save him hundreds of dollars from a plumber but it also saved him $26.50 when I stepped in and became his plumber. So thanks for the video I'm sure my father will be using RUclips from now on to troubleshoot problems.

Thanks for the informative video! I usually do all my own plumbing but hired my first plumber on a new bathroom remodel at my wife's urging. He replaced supply line, shut off valve, and installed new toilet. The very next day, the valve wouldn't shut off. Upon inspection , and thanks to your video, huge chunks of rust had found their way inside the brand new fill valve just as you described. Your tutorial worked like a charm! Mama is happy again. Thanks Papa Joe!
I wanted to say thank you. My water bill was 9 times as much as usual because my toilet was constantly running. I JUST changed the whole assembly in the back too. Had no idea why. I opened up the back like you showed and dude there was a huge rock in there lol

I have a brand new toilet I installed lately, and the fill valve inside the tank wouldn't stop filling the tank. Looking at your video I used your advice and removed the top valve and flushed the screen looking thing inside the tube. It had rusty sediment from the supply pipe. I reassembled the valve and I now have a toilet that acts as it should. You sir have made me a very happy guy because your advice worked! Thank you so very very much for posting the video. I am now a subscriber and will watch all of your content. You have videos on things I need to learn. Thanks again and I'm so grateful to you.
UK here. All this time later, very usefull, over 1m views! I have a similar designed fill valve that has just started to fill from the top, sometimes the valve closed off, sometimes it didn't. Took the whole thing apart in the last 30 mins and gave everything a good clean. Very little debris came off so I was sceptical, but hey presto! Fills as it should from the bottom & no leaking at the top. Closes off instantly when level reached. Thanks Joe.
👍🏽 Thank you joe !!! I’ve never attempted to fix anything in a toilet before but your explanation was great. I’ve been living with a running toilet for 1.5 years and I fixed it in less than 30 minuets. It feels great to fix something on my own.😊
I’ve fixed both my toilets with this one video with a fill valve that would not stop and then one with a fill valve that would not run. You’re an absolute master for posting this short and sweet informational DIY video..
I was watching videos about changing the fill valve due to slow fill, water leaking from top of fill valve but then saw yours and got the cap off. Completely worn down seal! Fluidmaster not a perfect replacement for my Delta but good enough for right now! Thanks a million! I try to be handy but miss my husband doing things like this around the house and get so frustrated that he was taken too soon. Sometimes I feel so stupid an not confident to do the things I used to never have to worry about. Many Thanks to goods guys like you.
I was quoted a huge amount to replace the toilet fill valve for this exact same issue. And this video of yours just saved me a ton of money and the satisfaction of having fixed something myself. Thank you so much!
Thank you Papa Joe! Following the municipality's repair of a broken water line, the flush valve on my toilet wouldn't shut off. I removed the top cap per your guidance and lo and behold, a small pebble was in the center hole where the needle operates. Removing this pebble returned the valve to operational condition! You saved me a weekend trip to the hardware store and the aggravation of an afternoon of plumbing repairs!
Thanks to you, I easily replaced the washer to my fluid master. I ordered 2 of them from Amazon for a total of almost $4.00! Works perfectly. Finished in seconds. Thanks again. Oh, my local plumbing supply store told me that I’d never find just the washer anywhere. WRONG! I saved so much money because of you.
Never give reviews on RUclips but this saved me so much of heartache , my plumber had installed a new fluid master and noticed this issue after he had left , and all the inconvenience of not using the flush fully until I stumbled on this video followed the steps to a T and there it was a small rubber residue was blocking the valve shutdown , removed it and we are back in action ! Thankyou
I have always replaced these. Struggling with one that just gave up the ghost at 9pm, dreading the idea of driving out to buy one. Cleaned the gasket, and buying a new one tomorrow. Saved my night thanks a bunch.
You are a bonafide cape-wearing hero! I had budgeted time to go to the hardware store to find/buy the whole assembly and replace it. Turns out, the seal was fine but there was some debris preventing it from sealing. Cleaned it out and voila, now I'm the hero to my wife. Thank you Papa Joe!
I just can't thank you enough for this video. Removing the fill valve top showed me that the rubber seal looked okay but just in case, I purchased a new seal and a new fill unit. My local hardware store says they don't sell the valve cap piece separately (but I've seen them on amazon.) I noticed that even with the new seal, the outside lever that moves the pin up and down just didn't move easily. So, I took a dowel and moved it up and down in the opening in the old seal and removed some debris that had accumulated in there, and now the lever/pin combo moved like the new fill unit I just purchased. Replaced the cap and turned on the water. COMPLETE SUCCESS! The tank filled and turned off promptly. I was beside myself with joy. I had been dealing with this for at least six months, and all it was was a little debris in the rubber seal!! The seal itself is in perfect shape (the water in San Francisco is quite soft.) It's interesting that FluidMaster says to replace the entire unit every five years. Thanks again!
I want to thank you for this video. I have been having to turn my water on and off at the floor because I didn’t know what was causing the over filling issue and my septic tank was taking a hit. (The tank was just emptied so this is quiet the water waste). Anyway, I took that top part off and found two pieces of broken black plastic jamming it up. Looks like they broke off of something but I can’t tell what. The toilet now flushes and stops properly. I would have called my dad but he passed a few years ago, so thank you very much. 💜
You bet, glad it helped you. And it’s not uncommon to get “gallstones” in there, even from somewhere upstream. Don’t hesitate to contact me with issues around the house. My email’s in the description. You may have lost your Dad, but you have a Papa Joe. 👍🏻
I did it! play, pause, play, pause and so on...but It worked. Step by Step and so easy. Bought the fill valve seals with your link, they showed up in 3 days, and then...I did it, with your help...Thank you, be blessed my brother.
I bought and installed 2 Fluidmaster 400A Universal Toilet Fill Valves and installed them. Within a few months, both stopped shutting off. I followed the steps outlined in your video and discovered plastic manufacturing debris under the fill valve cap. After removing the 4 or 5 bits of plastic, the valve shut off as it should. Thank you!
After inspecting my art one morning, I noticed a small trickle on the right side of the toilet bowl. I checked the flapper and adjusted the stem up and down to no avail. I was able to push down the valve about an eighth of an inch, and that would work for about half a day. After watching your video, I was able to determine that the calcium deposits had, in fact, built up, so I held asmall cap over the top of the valve and ran the water, then voila! Camode repaired! Thank you, sir!
I experienced the problem of the toilet fill valve not shutting off. I followed your video and discovered there was a small pebble blocking the valve seal! I followed your method, cleaned the seal, flushed the valve, and now the fill value shuts off like before! As a new homeowner on a tight budget, I really appreciated being able to do this without calling a plumber. Great video. Thanks!
You taught me something o won’t ever forget and saved me a trip to the store and acquiring a replacement, thank you! We just bought a house flushed changed our hot water heater, and it caused minerals to go into most faucet screens, including the fill valve, stopping it from sealing. You made my day! Now I can play with my son instead of drag him to store. ❤
I ended up have debris from reno end up under the cap, and I would have never known how to open and find that! It flushed a few times fine, then kept running water. I took the top off like you said, ran the water with the cup, and sure enough there were 2 rocks or whatever stuck in there. Removed, and wa-la, toilet functions again! Thank you so much
My toilet stopped running, but I knew this video would lead me in the right direction. Popped the top off and repositioned the rubber piece snug in there, and it fixed it. So simple, and I thought the worst-case scenario before watching this.
saved me some headache. I have had it with my creaky old house and its plumbing problems! had six plumbers come out last year for one problem. but now this minor problem comes up with my john! Just that I am fortunate enough to find someone with a toilet mechanize just like mine! I did replace the toilet about 6 years go, so it isn't a "special" configuration like lots of stuff in this Annityville horror look-a-like house I inhabit LOL. I am just glad I can fix it thanks to this vid! Aces! I am liking and subbing! :D
Haha, Ammityville horror house… sounds like you’ve got alot of trouble on your hands, at least the toilet isn’t one of them now. Glad the vid helped. 👍🏻
My brand new toilet would not stop leaking at the fill valve, turns out a piece of debris came into the fill valve after I turned the water back on. Worked awesome !Thank you
Thanks, just learning about the valve internals in this video solved my issue, I removed the rubber seal and cleaned it with soap and a toothbrush. also cleaned out the top end of the valve assembly with soap and a toothbrush. All is good right now and my seal was is great shape after cleaning, it should last for years now. Easy - fast - free fix, THANK YOU !
I opened mine up because it kept running. I found two huge sediment stones that were preventing the arm from moving up and stop the water from running. You're the best!!
Thank you so much for the clear instruction and no-frills video. I have absolutely zero experience with plumbing and this was exactly what I needed. Well done!
Hi Joe. I see in your video that the little metal stem pokes through the seal center. Mine does too, but after replacing the seal, it still doesn't stop. I'm presuming the lifting of the black arm is intended to push the seal down on to the white area, but on min the pin just pokes out and leaves the seal in place. Is this the way it is supposed to work, or am I missing something? And if it is supposed to push the seal down on the white ring, how does yours do that but mine does not - even though I can see the end of the pins on both ours and my seal? Help.!@@papajoeknows8355
Thank you so much! We went on vacation last month for a week and the toilet ran the entire time. Our water bill was $100 over it what it normally is. I followed your video, cleaned and reseated the seal and it flushes (and stops) perfectly now! Thank you again!
This is really awesome. I went to Home Depot and to double check I asked the associate should I do this option after sharing what was happening and he said, I would purchase the Valve and replace the whole thing :) I went ahead with your solution and replaced just the seal and it worked like a charm!!!! Excellent video!! This helps better than Pros
I did this again today for another toilet. It took less than 5 mins. Thanks much for sharing this knowledge with the community. Appreciate it. I’ll pay it forward as well
My landlord had to replace the water line to my house. The crew used PVC pipe. Immediately after turning on the water my toilet started running. I popped the Fluidmaster 400 cap off and removed the valve only to see that the valve was totally clogged with PVC saw shavings. After a good flushing I didn't even need a new rubber valve. Your video was an eye opener and I thank you.
Awesome! Worked perfectly and fixed my leak. Thanks for the tip! I don't know how many fill valve assemblies I've replaced over the years not knowing to check this seal first. I learned something new today.
Thanks for the upload. Just removed cleaned and reinstalled the rubber valve in our overflowing concealed cistern. Did the trick and it’s now working as it should 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video! Once I got the cap off, I found mineral deposits that were preventing the seal from closing. Your hack saved me a trip to the store and the cost of a new flush assembly.
Thanks Joe. Your video was a HUGE help. Had no idea how to get inside the float. When I followed your instructions, I actually found a hard piece of iron deposit on the valve seal, which turns out was causing my problem. Cannot thank you enough, and please keep the helpful videos coming.
Thanks so much for posting this! We live in a new construction home, so I was at a bit of a loss when I took the lid off the tank and saw that everything looked different from the old school toilet tanks. I used Fluidmaster in my search, and your video came up. Fortunately for me, I was able to just take out the seal, wipe off some build up, and insert it back in to get my water to stop trickling.
You just saved me another trip to the store and even more frustration! Had to use this trick on a brand new Flushmaster valve that had a bunch of gunk in the gasket apparently. So this video is not only for old valves but apparently new ones as well! You’re the man, thank you.
I kinda fancy myself as a handy man and I've replaced quite a few of these valves before. However, I never had one - new, that is - that wouldn't shut-off before. I had just replaced this valve with a brand new one and it wouldn't shut-off entirely. My confidence was shaken...LOL. Thank you Papa Joe for making this video. A brand new valve, which I disassembled thanks to your directions, had all kinds of tiny little black particles on the seal. No idea how they got there - it doesn't look like it was returned before I bought it. I cleaned the seal and flushed the valve and - anyway, it works like a champ now. Thanks again.
Hey, glad to hear it was helpful for you. I haven’t ever had a problem with a new one either, but it sounds like you got one that slipped past quality control for sure. Thanks for taking the time to comment Ray, I appreciate that!
This video was extremely helpful, while I didn’t need to replace anything, just follow your steps caused the noise to stop. I appreciate this, thank you 🙏🏽
You're awesome! My pops was worried cause we had to manually pull up the valve for it to stop he didn't know what to do I found this video 1 AM bored and fixed the toilet within 1 minute max. Def gained a subscriber
I kept watching all these toilet help vids and no one took the time to show and explain in depth how the toilet valve worked and i couldnt figure out what was wrong with my toilet thank u!
Thanks. I tried the adjuster first and that didn’t work- then I twisted the top off as you said and removed the seal and found a small pebble there. Put the seal back and twist back on and problem solved. Thank you !!
DUDEE!! This saved me so much money! It took me like five seconds to replace each one after weeks of consistently shaking the dang thing so it would stop running lol Thank you!!
Thanks,Joe! I’ve actually changed out a few toilets in my time along with fill valves. I never thought to just take it apart and clean the sediment out. Thanks for teaching me some common sense 😎👍🏼
I just saw this video and i subscribed to you bcuz i followed ur video step by step and i fixed my running toilet 🚽 exactly when i watched this from the beginning to the end!!! Thank you so much bcuz my husband of 22 years is not handy at all and I’m the one who fixes things around here and replaces even light 💡 bulbs!!!❤️❤️🙏🏽
Brilliant! I couldn’t figure out how to get into the valve. Mine had a piece of plastic in it (probably from our recent water line repair). Repair was done before your video was finished! Thanks to your instructions I’ve remained a top notch handyman in my wife’s eyes.
Best video on RUclips! Saved me from having to replace a 6 month old fill valve because everyone else just said “Welp, it’s defective better buy a new one” Thanks!
Dude, you are seriously a life saver and a SANITY SAVER haha. My toilet kept going off pretty much all the damn time. This little trick ACTUALLY WORKED. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Our toilet was leaking and I had no idea what to do. The replacement of the seal was easy and cheap (less than $2). So glad I found your video.
Thank You!! First time homeowner and this not only saved me a call to a plumber but also saved a trip to Lowes! Mineral backup was causing it to run and run.
Great information. I didn't have a new one (gasket) so I did the flushing trick..also removed and cleaned the old gasket along with the seating surfaces. So far it's working great. Thanks for posting!
@@papajoeknows8355 You did so, tremendously! I went to work earlier, with the toilet running, & just prayed I wouldn't have an overflowing water mess when I got home. God is Good, sent me to your channel, problem solved, peace of mind again! Blessings upon blessings to you sir!
Thank you so much. Usually I end up replacing all the inside parts, this was way easier. It's funny, the old valve seal didn't look worn at all, but replacing it did the trick
Great! A 2-minute fix. We’ll go to the hardware store soon to replace the rubber thing, but for the moment, removing, scrubbing grit out with an old toothbrush and replacing it, made a useful stopgap. Thanks!
Oh my gosh THANK YOU. I have been searching for HOURS and couldn’t get the right answers. I also couldn’t afford a new toilet (what plumbers told me) but this had it fixed in second! You are an angel!!!
This sweet guy is SHOWING us how to DIY it with 1 replacement part & you were told you need a whole new toilet? 🥺 No comment. . . Absolutely no comment. . .😣
Thank you so much, Joe! I didn't think we could fix it but your video was fantastic and we did it!!! I so appreciate you taking the time to make this video. It saved us so much money and time!
I’d just replaced the gasket and O-ring for the main flush valve as I had a tiny leak that caused intermittent running. Once that was seated, of course another problem came up: the flush valve not stopping! Found your video this morning, and I cannot thank you enough! Worked like a charm. But…now I have a little gurgle (it sounds like it’s right at the valve) that happens right as the water shuts off. NOTHING is easy, LOL! Do you happen to have a video that addresses that? I have not replaced the inner gasket on the flush valve yet, but I think this may be in the line itself? Good lordy 😢
This worked. Awesome advice, sir, thank you. And maybe this will help others: after I blew the possible minerals out of the tube as suggested, I just put a little vegetable oil on the sealer…worked perfect. Thanks again, Joe.
Thanks! First time homeowner learning as I go and your knowledge really helped me save my water bill and a new filler valve. As soon as I twist open to get to the seal there was debris in there. Flushing it out did the trick. Greatly appreciated.
Dude! I replaced all five valves on the toilets at home on the same day about two years ago… three have failed within one week! Coincidence? I think not! That said your little video paid for my whole year subscription of you tube… you the man! Clear, concise, spot on video. Thank you. Joe DOES know!
Thanks for the video. I honestly didn't know this could be done. Went immediately and ordered some from ebay, Amazon was more expensive. Just arrived today and less than minute later, fixed. I was just going to replace the whole valve until I ran across this. Thanks again.
Thank the Lord for RUclips! This video fixed the problem. I didn't replace the seal but I could see there was gunk on it so just wiped it off and put it back. THe toilet stopped running after that. Thanks!!!
Thank you for the tutorial. I have a brand new toilet installed, but had problems with water meter leaking. After that was fixed, sediment came through the pipes. I thought that everything was flushed out, but then the toilet started with a slow leak. With your advice, I found that some of the sediment lay very nicely within the holes in the valve. Cleaned out the sediment, and now, it's heaven again. God Bless You for saving me $200+ for a plumber to come by - especially since I'm unemployed.
Easy to install, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxjA-hDN2m8_mi0Dg0JD8U6QiArozIAc4I and comfortable. No idea what other people were talking about when they said it was difficult to install or uncomfortable.
Thank you! I had just replaced this valve recently, couldnt believe it was failing. We recently had a water main at the street failed and replaced. We had lots of debris in our faucets. I totally forgot about the toilets. I took the top off as shown, cleaned the washer, flushed debris out of valve(with a glass over it). Works perfect now. It shuts off! Bless you!
Thanks for this video. I thought my problem was the flapper but replacing it didn't help. I was going to buy a whole Korky complete kit but saw your video. There were whole chunks of rust in the area you showed. I used some tweezers, flushed the thing with a glass the way you showed, and it's all fixed. I subscribed and I'll be watching your bird and squirrel videos.
Toilet wouldn't stop running. Thanks to your informative video I was able to take valve cover off and discovered a broken bit of plastic was jammed in there. Removed that, put cover back on, no more problems!

Just tried this method, and it worked!!!! Turns out it was mineral deposits. The flush method took care of it!!!
Thank you so much!!!!🎉
You bet. 👏🏻👍🏻
Lol, plumbing supply store, they definitely know better than to tell you that. But awesome, glad the video helped you! 👏🏻
Thankyou
You bet, glad it helped you. 👏🏻
I was skeptical but it actually worked, there was a little pebble in the seal that was stopping it from closing and stopping water flow
Glad it helped. 👍🏻
I have always replaced these. Struggling with one that just gave up the ghost at 9pm, dreading the idea of driving out to buy one. Cleaned the gasket, and buying a new one tomorrow. Saved my night thanks a bunch.
You bet, glad it helped. 👍🏻
You bet, glad to hear it! 👍🏻
You bet, glad it helped. And yes, it’s not uncommon to find some “gallstones” in there.
Thank you Chris, and glad it was helpful for you! 👏🏻
Thank you!
Never had that happen with manufacturing debris... good to know. 👍🏻
Awesome, glad it helped you! 👏🏻
Thanks!
Awesome, glad it helped you!
Glad to hear it helped. 👏🏻
Thank you so much
Glad to hear it helped you! ✊🏻
Same here! Brilliant!
My toilet stopped running, but I knew this video would lead me in the right direction. Popped the top off and repositioned the rubber piece snug in there, and it fixed it. So simple, and I thought the worst-case scenario before watching this.
Awesome, glad to hear it! 👍🏻
saved me some headache.
@@papajoeknows8355 saved me about $160 labor fee.
Thank you so much! I am a single mom. I was able to fix two running toilets in my house for about $7 total. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I'm so thankful. Waited a long time for someone to come fix it. I did it myself. So easy! Thank you
That’s awesome, glad it helped you! 👏🏻
You bet, glad it helped you! 👍🏻
Thank you! Toilet was running. Turns out there was debris in the fill valve that needed cleaned out. Seriously saved me $500 today!
Extremely helpful! On mine, the seal looked good but there was some debris. Wiped off the seal, flushed everything out and now we're good to go!
Great video. Thanks for the tips!
I opened mine up because it kept running. I found two huge sediment stones that were preventing the arm from moving up and stop the water from running. You're the best!!
Awesome, glad it helped you! 👏🏻
Thank you so much for the clear instruction and no-frills video. I have absolutely zero experience with plumbing and this was exactly what I needed. Well done!
Awesome, glad to hear it helped you! 👏🏻
You've just saved me a $50 call out fee. Took me 10 mins to fix. Thank you!
You bet! 👍🏻
Thank you so much! We went on vacation last month for a week and the toilet ran the entire time. Our water bill was $100 over it what it normally is. I followed your video, cleaned and reseated the seal and it flushes (and stops) perfectly now! Thank you again!
Awesome, glad to hear it was helpful for you. 👍🏻
No more water hissing water noise it fixed the problem perfectly. Thank You !!So much for sharing your knowledge greatly appreciated.
You bet Linda, glad it helped. 👍🏻
Glad to hear it! 👍🏻
The pros don’t work at Home Depot 😂
@@yzmoto80 truth ☝🏻
I did this again today for another toilet. It took less than 5 mins. Thanks much for sharing this knowledge with the community. Appreciate it. I’ll pay it forward as well
My landlord had to replace the water line to my house. The crew used PVC pipe. Immediately after turning on the water my toilet started running. I popped the Fluidmaster 400 cap off and removed the valve only to see that the valve was totally clogged with PVC saw shavings. After a good flushing I didn't even need a new rubber valve. Your video was an eye opener and I thank you.
You bet, glad it helped.
Awesome! Worked perfectly and fixed my leak. Thanks for the tip! I don't know how many fill valve assemblies I've replaced over the years not knowing to check this seal first. I learned something new today.
Hey that’s great, glad to hear it! 👍🏻
I just subscribed because his video was straight to the point, helpful and not 15 minutes long with excessive yapping. Thank you
Thanks for the upload. Just removed cleaned and reinstalled the rubber valve in our overflowing concealed cistern. Did the trick and it’s now working as it should 👍🏻
Awesome, glad to hear! 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video! Once I got the cap off, I found mineral deposits that were preventing the seal from closing. Your hack saved me a trip to the store and the cost of a new flush assembly.
Awesome, glad it helped!
Thanks Joe. Your video was a HUGE help. Had no idea how to get inside the float. When I followed your instructions, I actually found a hard piece of iron deposit on the valve seal, which turns out was causing my problem. Cannot thank you enough, and please keep the helpful videos coming.
Hey Kevin, yes, it’s not uncommon to find “gallstones” in there. Glad the video helped you! 👍🏻
Well done, glad it helped you! 👍🏻
You just saved me another trip to the store and even more frustration! Had to use this trick on a brand new Flushmaster valve that had a bunch of gunk in the gasket apparently. So this video is not only for old valves but apparently new ones as well! You’re the man, thank you.
You bet, glad to hear it helped! 👏🏻
Awesome glad to hear it! 👏🏻
You saved me a trip to the hardware store, flushed it out like you said and it worked like a charm.
Good to know. I'm going to do the same tonight. Hopefully I have the same luck.
@@OmarDMarin awesome, glad it helped you! 👏🏻
Thanks,Joe! I’ve actually changed out a few toilets in my time along with fill valves. I never thought to just take it apart and clean the sediment out. Thanks for teaching me some common sense 😎👍🏼

Brilliant! I couldn’t figure out how to get into the valve. Mine had a piece of plastic in it (probably from our recent water line repair). Repair was done before your video was finished! Thanks to your instructions I’ve remained a top notch handyman in my wife’s eyes.
Hahaha, wife’s eyes, that’s about the best compliment I’ve gotten so far! Glad it worked out, and it’s our little secret. Lol 👍🏻
Best video on RUclips! Saved me from having to replace a 6 month old fill valve because everyone else just said “Welp, it’s defective better buy a new one” Thanks!
You bet, glad it helped you. And thanks for the “super thanks” I appreciate it!
Worked like a charm! Didn't even have to replace the seal just cleaned it all out a bit
Perfect, and yes, sometimes that’s all it takes. I just change the seals while I’m in there, as I’ve got them on hand. Glad the video helped you. 👍🏻
Dude, you are seriously a life saver and a SANITY SAVER haha. My toilet kept going off pretty much all the damn time. This little trick ACTUALLY WORKED. Thank you.

Great information. I didn't have a new one (gasket) so I did the flushing trick..also removed and cleaned the old gasket along with the seating surfaces. So far it's working great. Thanks for posting!

Thank you so much. Usually I end up replacing all the inside parts, this was way easier. It's funny, the old valve seal didn't look worn at all, but replacing it did the trick
You bet, and no, they almost never show signs of wear. But usually, that’s all that needs replacing. 👍🏻
Thanks for this video, it fixed my problem immediately and saved me an expensive call to a plumber.

Hey, that’s great! Always good to hear that it was helpful. 👍🏻
You bet, glad it helped you. 👍🏻
Thank you Joe. The diaphragm is such an easy fix and did the job 💯. Very useful tip 👍🏻
Awesome, glad it helped! 👏🏻
Thanks! First time homeowner learning as I go and your knowledge really helped me save my water bill and a new filler valve. As soon as I twist open to get to the seal there was debris in there. Flushing it out did the trick. Greatly appreciated.

That said your little video paid for my whole year subscription of you tube… you the man! Clear, concise, spot on video. Thank you. Joe DOES know!

Excellent guide! We had a new water main installed in our neighborhood and a bit of sediment got stuck in the valve. Your advice helped a bunch!!
Awesome, glad it helped you. And yeah, sometimes something happens “upstream” and next thing you know, your toilet won’t stop running. Lol
Thanks for the video. I honestly didn't know this could be done. Went immediately and ordered some from ebay, Amazon was more expensive. Just arrived today and less than minute later, fixed. I was just going to replace the whole valve until I ran across this. Thanks again.

Thank you Joe! Such an easy fix! Great video, crystal clear instructions.
