@@cavsfanmulla just finished the valve cover, engine running good. But I can’t take it for a test drive because there’s 6 inches of snow on the ground lol
@@jasonbourne1119 I’m about to get mine done I’m tempted to send the “laundry list” of repairs I just did lol. Hopefully pick it up tomorrow or tuesday. That’s so unfortunate man lol hopefully it clears up soon so you can really test it
Totally agree that the first mods should be intercooler and charge pipe, this is all my 135i has so far, and it can run 12.8 1/4 mile on dragy with loads of wheel spin and short shifting. I have a dragy vid on my channel for anyone interested in seeing the result of just Intercooler and charge pipe
Great upgrades Chris. I the future I will do these mods too. Maybe even the downpipes but that's inspection-related. I have to do some research. Regards and have a great week, Nico.
Vehicular diy has a vid for the after market diverter valves he used. I got the same ones and the work great for Chinese parts. The stock dv tend to bleed off boost from the weak seal they make.
The things I would do when I buy a 135is or a 335i wagon with this engine or the N55 is Precision race works coil relocation kit BMP stock facing intake manifold Upgraded Boost Pipe And Charge Pipe Upgraded Intercoolers CSF Radiators Bottom mount single turbo Port injection conversion I’m doing all this as a reliability concern and maybe increase power By swapping out the turbos to a single one it increases the reliability and you can keep the stock power or increase it
If you remove the lid of the factory airbox you will see where the air has to flow, a huge restriction. This is why DCI is a good upgrade with bolt ons it becomes even more of a restriction
Blew my first charge pipe with a stock tune lol, had it replaced by bmw for free and tuned it stage 2+ after installing downpipes and 2 years later im still running with a stock chargepipe wit no issues at 21+psi 😂🫣
@@TheBimmerBarn ive seen people use a lighter and go over it back n forth really fast for a few seconds to install catch cans on the pcv flapper, so that might be a good alternative
I would think by dumping excess boost to atmosphere rather than recirculate, would cause a CEL as the measured air would differ from MAF and MAP…maybe not
Any advice for doing these mods on a 535i? Same engine but I’m wondering if there’s any differences I should be aware of, I already have vrsf charge pipe and Intercooler!
Going to be the same procedures, with slightly different hardware etc. You can drop the subframe or cut the old inlet, and intercooler should be easy. Good luck!
Did this last weekend on my 135. Radiator fan was pain to put back in. Vrsf has good stuff. Good video.
Man this is a crazy build. The amount of wokr you've put in is astounding. The no grille look is very nice.
Let’s get Chris to 10k subs guys an gals ! Come on he certainly deserves it ..
I love VRSF stuff, installed their downpipes earlier this year and the fitment was perfecto
How long and would you say it’s easy to install?
@@SnowmanisChapin It took me a while to unbolt the old one because they were really rusty. But I would say its an easy installation.
Great video, thank you for the content. I just got my ‘09 335i last week and I’m replacing the valve cover now.
Let's gooooo, congrats! 🎊
Lolol same just did valve cover first week of owning it

I thought the factory DV's can't really good too much more boost it you go for a tune. Also, those cut hose clamp are now a nice hand cutter 😏
Awesome video Chris 👏🏽
Glad you enjoyed it :) thanks for the positive comments Bassfraud
if this is supposed to be 'sleeper' I would suggest painting the intercooler black and install the grill
You could also use a heat gun to soften up the plastic on the DV and remove the stock hoses.
I tried that and melted the hose before it started coming loose, probably too much heat 🔥

Any reason for not using DCI? For the rest of your mods, they’re a good value for performance
Request when you finally reveal the 335i wagon. Put the aftermarket wheels from the 550i..
Stop it, you read my mind 😏
Nice job.
Thanks Ray! Merry Xmas 🎄
Bossman so yu didn’t add the hoses back to the DV??!!

No grill on bottom sir
I never understood why VRSF doesn't include a free stencil to paint their logo on the intercooler. Wouldn't that be free advertising?
They do! I got a stencil with mine for my 535i but I haven’t installed it yet
@@mikalmcenany684 VRSF sells the stencil for $9.99. They do not include it for free with the intercoolers.
All the work to swap the motor...and you jank up the diverter valves like that? SMH.
