  • LONG WINDED VIDEO ALERT
Anyway, I received some items to upgrade my Sega Game Gear and I intend to use them! This video is part 1 of 3. It covers swapping the shell with one from RetroSix. Part 2 will be putting in the backlit LED screen from retrokai.store and the 3rd video will be me changing out the capacitors.

I like them too. I haven't gotten anything from them in a while though. I just got an Atari Lynx with a 1 inch crack in the lense. So I hope they make some Atari Lynx stuff soon.

The lcd lines come from oxidation of the ribbon connection to the original lcd . Its the chip on the front of the lcd itself on the right side of the screen. It means the lcd is dying. You can put pressure on the chip or run heat around the edges of the chip to try and reflow the solder connection. But both are a temp fix and the heat trick only works so many times before it kills the chip.

Yeah, I have 2 videos where I’m replacing the screen, fuses, and led tubes with the MagicScreen kit from retroKAI.store. But still, that is some good info for someone else with the issue in the meantime!

I honestly don't remember how I resolved it, and I don't want to take it apart to try to jog my memory. Sorry :\ Maybe ask Luke of RetroSix about it.

Those screwdrivers are a pain in the ass!
Buy ones, with a bigger handle, and a longer shank!
    Makes your work much easier!

I have a game gear with the mcwill and recap. The only thing I don’t like is the scratch on it. Is the quality on these cases really good? If I get I’m gonna have to copy your colours. It looks sick

My only complain is the directional button. I have to press hard to the right
