I agree with your complaint on height. I’m 5ft and have a hard time getting in and out. However, other issues are snow removal from between the wipers and hood. Way too big of a gap/indentation. Also, snow build up around tires. The wheel well is so small that if you don’t keep banging road snots out it will stop the tire from turning. In one snow storm I had to stop twice in a 30 min drive to clear them out. Also the fact the the rear wiper does not lift off the window and I can’t reach the passenger wiper when it’s lifted. I have to knock it down with the drivers side wiper. The front wipers also sit too low for the front defrost.
I love my Rav, the few things I don't like 1. I haven't found a good spot to put my phone (vent holder doesnt work and no place on the dash). 2 that open space above the glove box is completely useless everything I have put in there goes flying out of it. 3. The interior lighting sucks, but after reading the comments I'm going to switch to the led bulbs. 4. It doesn't seem to warm up inside in very cold temps here in PA. All minor complaints. I really like the car.

compared to the gas, for me I would save a whopping $20 a month only! I'd rather the gas model for the AWD drive options and no worry or concern about a battery or component
@@goodguy1651 $20 a week for me! I do like getting 41 mpg (the wife’s car) I have a Prius. A year later I think the ideal would be one electric and one gasoline vehicle.
2019 AWD Rav4 XLE Premium - My 2 cents - some/most switch controls (overhead too) are not illuminated at night which sucks when you can't see them and have to fumble around, bottom row of switches are behind the steering wheel and I can't see them unless I move my head down and to the left, LED headlights and halogen fog lights look strange, electronics/apps suck by locking up or just not working at all when you need them, the door opening is tight, it would be nice if the doors opened up wider, no android auto, the blue shift/gear indicator is way too bright at night (I lay something over it to block it), some of the dash indicators do not dim at night and are too bright, auto start option was missing with the cold weather package (I had to pay to have an aftermarket auto start installed), heated steering wheel is only heated at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions(12 and 6 positions are cold, cold, cold in winter). Otherwise - good to go. Excellent MPG, AWD excellent on snow and ice, and all the safety features rock including the adaptive cruise control!
I am 6 ft 2 so I love the higher seating and leg room! I love the nutmeg interior color! But I want a panoramic sunroof! Which trim do I need to get for that?
I hate the tiny wiper blade on the passenger side. It crosses over with the larger driver side wiper right in the line of vision on the passenger side.
I have a 2021 Limited all-wheel-drive model and of course the passenger seat does not go up and down. Ridiculous that it does not. And to tell the truth it should be a power seat adjustable like the driver seat
So did they fixed the roof rail leaks yet? they drilled hole through the frame for the rail but only plugged in up with simple plastic gasket, previous models has reported leaking... hopefully they fixed the design this year
To be completely honest with you, I am still trying to figure that part out. I have the mount of rear dash cam attached to the upper center portion of the rear window. I am still tinkering with how to route a long cable wire through the upholstery from the plug to the trunk (short distance) without having items in the trunk interfere with the cable. Since the trunk opens upward, I have been having issues where the wire would yank on the camera either causing it to turn on the mount or some cases, cause the whole piece to drop due to the inadequate routing and tension of the wire. I have not had the chance to experiment with this due to time, priorities in life, and just plain laziness on my part. So I am in the same boat as you. Right now, I just have the long cable sitting on the trunk floor with no routing. I'll get to it....one day...
You make a wise choice in Toyota. Does it Sounds Noisy. Is there lots of road and tire and wind noises? No tint on the sun roof? This is a 2021 model, did the 2022 change much?
There is a lot of road and wind noise, especially on the highway. But the tradeoff for that is how smooth and comfortable the ride is. As for the sunroof, I don't believe it's tinted simply because there is a sliding upholstery cover that covers the sunroof from the interior so no sunlight comes into the cabin. The sunroof for mine is just at a normal configuration, no tint. I've taken a peak at the 2022 models but the differences are very minor. Not a lot of significant changes really.
I have a 2019 RAV4 LE AWD, and my wife has a 2020 Rav4 XSE AWD. The AWD has some of that space used up with the selector for AWD. You will always have a small spot for coins regardless of the trim in this generation.
I just brought one 3 days ago and I just found out when you open the sunroof and it stops if you click the open button again it goes back even further then where it stop automatically it makes it seem even bigger.
That 1st stop when you open the sunroof is called "comfort stop". It's designed that way to open and deflect a big amount of extra windnoise. If you fully open the roof, it will be alot louder, sometimes like a helicopter
I wish my rav4 had better sound system. I feel like I need to put it up to 20-30 for me to hear a lot, especially on the freeway. I also wish I got the fog lights. I wonder if I can install some on my own
I have the same sound system issue with my RAV4 where the road/ wind noise at highway speed swamps out the music volume. Out of curiosity, what trim level/ year model is your RAV4? My RAV4 comes with fog lights.
This made me feel better cause I was upset my XL didn’t come with the sunroof since it’s not premium… So thanks for sharing LOL I probably wouldn’t have used it either.
I did my first road trip in a new RAV4 last week. Average fuel economy was the promised 35MPG, including use of lights. wipers, various heating grids. Predicted range for me usually is 430 miles. I used 12 gallons for 430 miles (36MPG) on one leg of the trip.
@@wushuforever No. I think hybrids are too complex. I've been my own mechanic for fifty years. The battery tech, while much improved versus ten years ago, is still immature. The Home Link access is available as an option for the Premium model, (it does not come standard with it). The RAV4 in this video does not have the Home Link Access, however, the owner's manual does have a section for the garage opener using the Home Link Access if your RAV4 is equipped with it. (It would be on the rear view mirror).
I bought a new 2021 Rav 4 almost 1 year ago, and overall I love it. The small slot you didn’t like behind the shifter, I use for my mail box key, perfect. My only complaint is the car is a little noisy, could use a tad bit more sound proofing, but then why buy a more expensive Lexus RS 350.
Agree on engine noise. My #1 complaint about my 2021 Rav4 is excessive engine growl on acceleration. And it's not a muscle type sound, it's more of a strident, low-on-oil, gear grinding sound -very unsettling.
Have you noticed on your softex seats your blue jeans rubbing on your seats and leaving blue? I’ve had mine same interior for 6 months and my blue jeans (wear them daily) have turned my driver seat bottom blue. Please help if you’ve had this problem!
I have not this issue yet but that maybe because when I first got my RAV4, I installed a protective seat cover for it (because I work a dirty job plus I sweat alot). I don't know if you received the same owner's manual as I did (mine is basically a Harry Potter book size, lol) but I did notice that in the owner's manual on page 571, it does give you a small corrective action to clean leather/synthetic leather areas in the interior. Thank you for this video! If this is a marvel of engineering the new A25A-FKS , why it is consuming more fuel (9.2:10.7:7.3) than the 2.5 L 2AR-FE Toyota old engine (8.6:7.7:7.1)? A25A-FKS is extremely noisy and not very reliable engine can fail if you do not use the proper oil or do not change it when it is recommended and good luck finding that engine oil in Walmart.
yess i agree with so much !!
Have you talked to Toyota about the engine noise?
I wish the front passenger seat had lumbar support like the driver's seat......
For me what I don't like is the road noise that is heard inside while driving. I do like the auto dimming high beams and its overall size.
Yes wind noise is unbelievable loud for this day and age and road noise and engine noise come toyota get with it!!!!
The best option is....get the hybrid! 40+ mpg, all wheel drive, 20 more horsepower, no wheel covers.
compared to the gas, for me I would save a whopping $20 a month only! I'd rather the gas model for the AWD drive options and no worry or concern about a battery or component
@@goodguy1651 $20 a week for me! I do like getting 41 mpg (the wife’s car) I have a Prius. A year later I think the ideal would be one electric and one gasoline vehicle.
What type of trim lines
We know what the specs are... But what is your Real MPG?
Actually, "Soft-Tech" seats are a step up from leather. They outlast leather and keep a cooler temperature than leather.
I am 6 ft 2 so I love the higher seating and leg room! I love the nutmeg interior color! But I want a panoramic sunroof! Which trim do I need to get for that?
Limited.
Is this your vehicle ? Where are the license plates ?
I hate the tiny wiper blade on the passenger side. It crosses over with the larger driver side wiper right in the line of vision on the passenger side.
You got the Japan Version since it got tow hooks in the front!! American or Canadians don't have the tow hooks cut offs
Where does it show? Can you tell me the time
@@bigd8919 at 0:52.
Periphery! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
🤘😝🤘
Yes, cargo lighting is a big headache in this vehicle.
I wish the front passenger seat could also go up and down. Also 2019 models doesn't have Android auto.
I have a 2021 Limited all-wheel-drive model and of course the passenger seat does not go up and down. Ridiculous that it does not. And to tell the truth it should be a power seat adjustable like the driver seat
I love it
So did they fixed the roof rail leaks yet? they drilled hole through the frame for the rail but only plugged in up with simple plastic gasket, previous models has reported leaking... hopefully they fixed the design this year
Where im frome getting the leather seats are rare and they are expensive
How did you set up your rear dash cam? I have the same exact car (year, trim, exterior, interior) but can’t figure out what is best?
You can rip a CD without compression. Try FLAC.
What is the higher trim than the XLE Premium? Also, my wife's Premium does have that little "coin holder" next to the shift.
@@davedave2109 Oh ok got it that makes a lot of sense to be honest. Thanks for that note.
I always order a sun roof and have never used one…ever.
This made me feel better cause I was upset my XL didn’t come with the sunroof since it’s not premium… So thanks for sharing LOL I probably wouldn’t have used it either.
Instead of MP3 you can use some other format like AAC or something, they're much better quality and almost indescernible to CDs.
... and yes I don't like CD players 😅
Not a bad overall take on the RAV4 but I noticed two of your complaints were not unique to the RAV4 but instead general car manufactures tendencies.
Good video, I was wondering what's the range you are getting on a full tank of gas?(display on your dash screen)
On average, with a full tank of gas, I have a range of 421 miles. Of course, depending on how you drive, the range will constantly adjust as you go.
390 to 410 miles
I did my first road trip in a new RAV4 last week. Average fuel economy was the promised 35MPG, including use of lights. wipers, various heating grids. Predicted range for me usually is 430 miles. I used 12 gallons for 430 miles (36MPG) on one leg of the trip.
@@shooter2055 Did you guys thought about buying a hybrid in the first place?
@@wushuforever No. I think hybrids are too complex. I've been my own mechanic for fifty years. The battery tech, while much improved versus ten years ago, is still immature. The Chevy Bolt battery disaster is an example. Of hybrids, I think Toyota has the best systems. They're just a bit much for this Geezer.
That little space is for the cheese dip lol
Periphery!
Atleast I like it but no android auto in the future hoping anyway
Does it come with home link access to your garage as a premium model?
Same issue with my 2020 RAV4
I wonder if there is anything to fix the sound or if is ever going away! ☹️
I do the same for my mailbox key! 😂
(Although I am not sure which category the Softex seats fall under).
@@fernandomontenegro9458 thank you! I’ve looked in there but doesn’t help a whole lot. Looks like it hasn’t been too big of a problem. Mind me asking where you found the seat covers? I’ve been having trouble finding some that match this seat color.
@@maggiemushrush118 for the purpose of the video, I took off the seat cover. The seat cover (which is a special type of cloth that wrapped around the whole seat) was gifted to me by a family member during the holidays a few years ago. They bought it at Target.
Whether Target still carries them, I do not know. I assume Amazon may have some seat covers as well.
