    I used to really hate the start stop on my new F 150. After having it on a couple vehicles you start to get used to it. If I use sport mode in the F150 it disables it, but I agree it should be off, unless you as the consumer choose to turn it on.

    • @fatnutz223
      @fatnutz223 2 года назад +3

      @iPac9mm you can’t turn it off and leave it off. Yes there is a button to disable it, but you have to push it every time you start your truck or you can always run in sport mode. The point is that you should be able to turn it off once and be done with it.

    Truth is that you don't need a super strong horn to get the job done. I noticed that when I rent cars on vacations with weak city horns. My trucks have strong horns but they're overkill most of the time and the high pitch could send someone in a rage more easily than a weak city horn. There was a study on it I believe about stressed drivers reacting differently to different horn pitch and volume where the louder one was unnecessary and more provoking. Haven't heard of a city horn not working since it was too quiet. I wouldn't mind my 3 trucks having them but I won't spend on getting it modded.

    I have the same car, the start / stop feature can be disabled by pulling the hood latch plug , and return it to the socket just far enough so it doesn’t reconnect but, keeps it from rusting. From that time your car will run normal and not shut off.

  • @805BeachRecoveries

    They must've made a lot of changes between 2021 and 2022... I just got a 2022 rav4 hybrid XLE... The start stop is not even noticable... But it's a hybrid so that's to be expected behavior... The engine is not hot at all. The tire pressure monitor does show on the dash... I'm not particularly fond of the parking brake turning on by itself, but I think I'll get used to it.. maybe there's a way to disable to automatic parking brake when the engine is still on? The horn, I mean, this car is not meant to have "balls" or be a hog on the road... That being said, you can upgrade the horn for anywhere from 20 to 60 bucks (piaa superior for example). For the hybrid at least, sport mode makes a huge difference.. it engages the hybrid engine as well as the electric rear motors, giving it over 200hp and hits 0 to 60 in just under 7 seconds.. it will snap your head back slightly when going from a stop and smashing the gas. Electric, the torque is instant with no build up, which makes a huge difference when working combined with a gas/hybrid engine. (The hybrid has a stand alone 60ish hp electric motor that is strictly for the back wheels). From what I've read and researched, the hybrid is leaps and bounds better than a standard RAV4, with 1 exception... The standard RAV4 has a locking differential so you can get 50 percent power to the front and back wheels... That's a big deal for me cause I live where we can drive on the sand.. I've been trying to find a good mode for sand driving and it seems like the hybrid is good for light duty sand driving at best if you don't want to risk getting stuck. I have a couple of vids on my channel where I was testing it. This is my first Toyota I've owned and I went from a 2009 4wd Yukon V8 to this.. I've been a Chevy man my whole life and I gotta say the rav overall is pretty great

    I saw this on a Toyota blog. Of course this person’s car is a 2022, but I wonder if it also applies to your 2021. “ I just found the tire pressure read out for individual wheels. The delivery person at the dealership did not know how to use the information center as he said that the tire pressure was only an idiot light.
    Use the information center control on the left side of the steering wheel. When the main screen is showing the average MPG, press the left control arrow pointing left, 3 times. Then press the up arrow 3 times and the tire pressure display screen shows up with the 4 wheels.”

I have to depress the brake further than I normally would at a stop basically with a lead foot before the Auto start stop will engage. I have 1700 miles on the car and never had it turn on yet besides once to test it out. Funny when the TPMS, it's opposite for me, I guess the Highlanders do have a TPMS reading on the dash but I can never get it on the App!

    • @MikeKayK
      @MikeKayK 2 года назад +3

      Thinking about picking up a new LE. Any idea if they still kept the the start/stop out of it, or am I going to have to turn it off each time I drive? I noticed the base models also come with steelies & hubcaps, but if they're not significantly heavier than I don't think I care that much...just looks cheap. Whether the steelies or alloys, definitely want a smaller wheel and a fatter tire sidewall for a smoother ride over rough roads. Looking at the light color interior (feels more spacious). I'm reading that they've added some sound deadening under the hood on the newer models as well, hopefully the LE's got it too.

    I couldn’t help but notice how these are all modern additions to the vehicle. I drive a 2002 Jeep Wrangler, that thing barely has air bags. It has no computers trying to manage stuff (there is a indicator to shift up, but it’s just a light). My personal favorite is that there’s no massive ugly screen to support a backup camera, just a radio that plays music. The only downsides are that it’s very loud on the highway (absolutely zero sound dampening) and the gas mileage isn’t great (17 average city)

    In big cities with lots of traffic the stop/go function is decent. Rather have it shut off than be constantly on if you go and stop for a long while. Rural roads it's very annoying that it shuts off at every stop when there's no traffic

    Got a few beefs as well. I own a 2021 Rav4 Trail. Drives fantastic, excellent safety features, comfortable to no end. Problems occur at temperatures below -30, there is a continuous drain on the battery while parked. I am losing enough to drain the battery to below 11 volts after 5 days. Ended up buying a battery maintainer, which is a pain. When I go to my cottage in the winter, I have to carry another 12volt battery in the back, so I can boost the car to get it started, or disconnect the battery. The cause? The computer and communication does not shut down while parked and puts a continuous load on the battery. That phone app should also tell me the battery voltage, but doesn't.
    There are no hook points in the front (my previous 2009 Rav4 had two that I used dozens of times in a year) to attach emergency pull points, and to tie down a 17ft, 90lb canoe. The roof rack crossbars are spaced too closely together for let's say a 17ft canoe. The gas flip up cover, allows ice to build up inside, jamming the opening. Door locks freeze up, making entry debatable in cold temps.
    I like the vehicle, though.
    Note: Be warned the trailer hook up, is a flat4, not a 7 pin type used by camper trailers nowadays.

    I bought a used 2017 Prius Prime Advanced Trim, so far.my biggest complaint with it has been one of the original selling points, it features the largest (at the time) Display ever in a Toyota, the infotainment touchscreen is 11.6 inches, portrait orientation. Big screens are cool right? Well, it's a huge reflective surface, it has some matte properties to it, but it still reflects a light especially in the morning or evening. Second, still with of the screen, they moved the AC controls to the touchscreen as well. I'm used to tweaking the AC settings in my car since I'm in California but you can't do anything with the touchscreen u til it completes it's little startup animation. Basically, I think they put too much emphasis on the screen. Nearly everything else about the car is an absolute pleasure. If I may include an honorable mention as well, some other features they had as selling points with this car have been discontinued. It used to have a lot of those remote functionality like in your Toyota app, but the Prius Prime used to use "Toyota Entune" to manage that stuff. Well they killed it off like a year ago and never brought in any of the removed features into the Toyota app.

    I have a Mazda that I love. What I absolutely hate is the Mazda nav. When I select a destination, for example Go Home, the first press it shows navigate home? So I have to press the button again and then on the screen it has a 10 second timer before it starts navigating, so I have to press the button a 3rd time. Whoever programmed that to work that way should be fired. And forget trying to use voice to find a destination. It sometimes brings up a music list when I say "Go to Home Deopt". And like you said, I hate the e-brakes because I can not feather it while driving. It is either 100% on or 100% off. I hit it once when I was moving and it was not a good experience.

    Jeff, just FYI on the auto start/stop. I seriously dislike it as well. It makes me feel like the car died (like my old 1999 beater), but it's set default on so that car brands can get better EPA ratings in the "standard driving mode". Something you may want to try is leaving the car in sport mode with auto start/stop turned off. If you shut the car down in sport mode and turn it back on, some models have the sport mode remember the auto start setting. Good luck and great car!

      It’s not that difficult. Just don’t press so hard on the brake pedal when you stop and you don’t trigger the auto stop. Your brake pedal pads will probably last longer too if you don’t press the pedal any harder than you need to to keep the car from rolling at stops.

    I drive a dinosaur LOL,, a 2001 ford f150 extra cab 4x4 and I LOVE it and wouldn't trade it for any of the new crap, I love the simplicity of not having all that extra computer controlled stuff to go bad or drive you nuts, it's a well equiped model with all the bells and whistles for that year, it is also a manual 5 speed and not the auto's that I don't care for, it's the 4.6 triton 2v engine that runs like a swiss watch and with the 5 speed has plenty of power for anything you will ever do with a half ton truck and then some (I've actually towed and hauled way more than you should with a half ton but it did just fine with it ), it only has about 110,000 miles on it from new (I'm second owner, bought it quite litterly from a little old lady who's husband died and used to drive the truck as a second vehicle and it only had about 40,000 miles on it),,,,when I got it I bought brand new tires and rims because I hated what the old guy had on it,,,,factory firestones and factory rims so I put some nice rims and tires on it and used the stock rims for winter rims and had studded winter tires put on them( I live in a very mountainess area of the rocky mountains in Idaho and studded tires are nearly a total necessity), and I still have a year or 2 to go before any of those tire need replaced because I bought high quality when I did buy them, the truck has been flawless and hasn't cost me hardly a dime in repairs in basically 70,000 miles now, oil changes, 1set of brake pads and rotors on all four wheels that I did myself ( very easy to do on that truck and was only about $300 in parts), and I had to put an alternator on it about 2 years ago, and that I did myself also (real easy to do) replaced the alternator belt and idler and tensioner all at once just to be safe and all it cost was again about $300 for lifetime waranty parts and a half of a day to install them, but that is it in the 5 or so years I've had it,,,great truck and I plan on keeping it for many more miles to come. Edit LOL almost forgot the main reason I wrote this LOL you mentioned weak horn well my truck has you beat on wimpy horns,,,mine is wimpier than a neutered chipmunk with laryngitis,,,you could most deffinately be heard farting inside with the windows up than blowing the horn at somone, actually pisses me off because even when I want to aggrevate someone with it I can't they just end up laughing at my wimpy horn LOL,,,been threatening to get one of those aftermarket semi truck horns for it but then I'd probly get in trouble with it LOL,,,so that IS the one thing I hate about my truck LOL.
