wow, that was super helpful! Thanks for posting and taking the time to do the comparison!
I'm glad the video was helpful for you and thank you so much for watching and leaving the kind comment.
Alclad II - For best results on the clear gloss coat, spray a lite cover layer(dust coat) first of Alclad II Gloss (ALC 600) then once dry fully spray another 2nd layer little thicker coat then dry fully at least 6 hours (deflection from imperfections with the layers)! then spray a Auto 2K clear high gloss to seal the deal and gain back the imperfections. You will be very happy with the results very high effect chrome finish. Its best to spray that ALC 600 first for the 2 coats, if you spray direct onto it with a 2k it does not deliver the mirror shine you want from chrome.
What you need to do after is spray a clear automotive spray over the whole surface of each tile. That's really when Alclad shines through like a mirror once you spray on top of the clear coat as it need a protective layer which is what you used.
I like. Good job. Id use createx UVLS Clear for top coat. Keep going!
For a good strong clear coat that won’t dull, try using Pledge Floor Care Finish, works like magic and it sprays on easy too.
The Quicksilver gold chrome is even more durable than the silver. It's really amazing how durable and scratch resistant it is. Mixed with a candy it also provides a great anodized look.
I have been trying to find a good top coat for Alclad. had heard a 2k gloss (maybe regular too) over the Aqua gloss would bounce some of the chrome shine back but my test was inconclusive on that so far. I know chrome doesnt like clear coats
The Sherwin Williams automotive clear gloss system works rather well. it only sold in gallons and 5 gallons as far as i know. Also cosmic chrome has an amazing chrome system with a top coat, but again it can be cost prohibitive.
E7 S-02 Chrome Sealer works really well. Better than Alclad's aqua gloss (which should not be shaken).
i know this is old, but i'm trying to make a reflective box, to cure resin 3d prints with uv light, i dont like the tape, it's annoying, and i dunno how to cut glass to fix the cabinet i'm trying to turn into a curing station, so i was looking at shiny paints, think it'll work?
sorry for the late reply, Krylon makes a mirror finish spray paint that is about $5.00 that might work well for what your curing station
Would the chrome be brighter if white is used as an underbase?
The alclad aqua gloss works fine over their chrome. It does say DO NOT SHAKE.. which you did..
Here’s a tip. You also need to warm the bottle before use. Place it in hot water and then use it for a perfect finish.
Can I use Createx opaque black under the chrome? I already have it and don't want to buy gloss black
No, the gloss black is what helps finish of the chrome. I have had some success using Krylon Fusion gloss black which is a cheaper alternative
the sealer make it look so matte
yeah, sealers really kill the sheen of chromes, the quick silver, as far as i know if the most durable which is why its my default chrome paint. However its not as true as Alclad 2 or spaztix chromes.
Id like to use this method on a record I've got to give the impression of it being a platinum disc, since it'll be framed and won't be touched do you reckon I can get away with not using as sealer? It ruins the effect.
@@Neuromantic_86 yep you can so that, the only reason to seal it is if it is going to be handled often.
A high gloss clear over black, or high gloss black is better than a polished surface. I watched a Chinese fellow test a highly polished surface against gloss coat and the painted gloss surface had better reflectivity. You should NOT shake the aqua gloss, as that causes it to not work as well over the "chrome". e7 S-02 Chrome Sealer works awesome as a top coat clear for Alclad Chrome.
Thanks, I'll try that out
@@ZombieMeatStudio Here is the video showing the polished vs. lacquered surface for chrome (MADWORKS channel)...

There are English subtitles.
And this is the one showing topcoats over Alclad Chrome from Barbatos Rex's channel. He mentions/ shows the e7 S-02 chrome sealer near the end. I bought some right away and it worked great....

Aqua gloss is not a very good top coat. Alclad makes a clear gloss top coat, it is clear like water.
Yeah they make the "Klear Kote". I thought it was what i needed but it ruined my alclad chrome. It seems like the aqua gloss is required for Chrome because of its water base. I ordered a bottle to try.
thx for infos but not understand English , how big your nozzle ?
I am using a 0.35mm Iwata eclipse
@@ZombieMeatStudio thank
I don't think this is a fair test - Here is another demo:,

I think the sanding to 800 was holding it back, and the "full coverage" was just way too much.
