FWIW I'm an American Thai spent 7 years in Europe. kitchen scales are very inexpensive and well worth the cost when it comes to more finicky recipes

This is from or very similar to the original Jell-o cookbook in the 50's. I believe this recipe was called royal crown or crown jewels and used a circular jello mold so it looked like a crown
For the jello, next time try this: layered jello. You pour thin layers let it solidify and then pour a different color on top and let that one solidify. Repeat as many times as you want.
