- Hi and welcome to my latest upload of a Newman type motor and maybe a generator too.
This is a Newman type motor using a very large copper wire coil as the base. Which is enclosed in a wooden box which allows me to try various mounts for the stator.
There are 3000 turns of 0.8mm wire on the coil and I am using a mechanical commutator. The video shows the stator being driven by 18 volts DC battery
Its the ideal set up for experimenting with various stator shapes and sizes.
I have had this running for 4 days straight when I first tested it, Which means that it is very economic on power useage.
The coil is 12" o/d and 9" I/D and 3" deep so lots of copper wire to drive this unit. Hope you enjoy what you see and maybe it will give you a few ideas too. Please leave a like and subscribe to my channel so you dont miss out on all my future ides. Many thanks Deryck
Dave, I think Mr Newman would be proud!
Hi Timtron many thanks for the compliment. I am Hoping to do quite a few experiments with this electrical machine and post the results for everyone to see and take on board.
@@DeryckThompsonChasingtheDream Hi Dave, I had a chance to talk Mr Newman a long time ago at an energy show in Fl. He was a great guy for sure! I plan to use a plastic spool 3' OD x 1'.6'' Deep with a 14'' center that i plan to fill it up with wound 12 gauge 2'' thick rings. Also use a commentator that shorted like his did and Ac caps across each ring winding and few bucks in magnets lol. Mr Newman gave me info that i have never forgotten in the hopes to build a big Newman motor some day haha. Well i am 62 y/o now and i will get to it soon! Keep up the great work and ignore the jerks and trolls in the comments because they will show up. Cheers!
@@Timtron432 nice work.
Muy bien pero que amperaje y voltaje da, lo ideal es poner voltimetroy y amperimetro para ver la capacidad de carga
Thanks for sharing
Glad you like it.
so tell me what was the reason or thought for the domed shape?
I wanted to keep the rotating magnets as close to the copper wire as I could make it. hoping that it would act like a generator when it passed the copper wire generating an electric pulse back into the battery. I havent investigated this idea as yet cos I have been very busy on other things.
@@DeryckThompsonChasingtheDream thanks that makes perfect sense
