To explain why Mango vs Zain at Smash Summit 11 was so impressive: In Melee stage picks are important. Fox vs Marth is an even matchup except for Final Destination, which is super lopsided (consensus is around 8-2 in favor of Marth). Because of the stage counterpicking format, going down 0-2 means you must win twice on your opponent’s counter pick to win the set. Going down 0-2 as Fox vs Marth means the set is basically over, that’s how bad it is. Also, Zain is a notorious Fox slayer. Going into Summit 11, Zain was on a 2-year streak where he didn’t drop a single set to any Fox. He was so good at it that people were starting to think the matchup was hopeless. Mango bringing out Fox for Summit 11 was a surprise too. He used to be a Fox/Falco dual main long ago, before he shifted focus to Falco. So nobody knew if he could play the character well enough to beat Zain. Oh and because Mango was in loser’s bracket, he had to win 2 straight sets to take the tournament. So when he went down 0-2 in the first set, everyone was getting ready to pack their bags.
Stewies moment clearly doesn't belong in here. Yes it is iconic and hella hyped, but he didn't pop off that map/game. And those three kills were super simple bc faze panicked and didn't have time. Krimz's 48-ish frags inferno in regulations / flamies mirage vs QBF in quarters of Boston, k0nfig's 46-ish bombs on mirage, all of those deserve to be in this list, but definitely not Stewie.
That Nifty performance and the Boston 2018 game gave us so many fucking highlights. Nifty gets most of the, but Boston spawned just about every player having his moment. So fucking sick because both teams went full beast mode.
I can't believe they chose the MSF Leona pick over Faker's five straight games masterclass on Galio during Worlds 2017 against RNG in the semis... At that time SKT's dynasty had been declining as two of the OGs had left (Marin and Bengi) plus Wolf and Bang didn't look like the best players in their respective roles anymore... Faker, being known as a star player was put on Galio which is literally a team-oriented champion and he still managed to drag SKT all the way to finals despite ultimately falling short in the end. How is that not a super saiyan moment?
Because it’s Faker is why. You hear the name Faker and expect something good. Misfits was an underdog that year against the greatest League team and they pulled out something nobody expected. It was an off-meta pick that led to them winning that game which nobody saw coming.
Love the passion across all games, I dont play many of these games and i still feel hyped when i have 0 clue wtf is happening, esp when u can hear the crowd or see the reactions in the players faces/casters calls
