  • It’s a shame that after some designer has perfected the look of a motorcycle some lawyer types insist on splashing the machine with warning labels. Thankfully those warning labels are fairly easy to remove, especially if you attend to them while the bike is new. In this video from the MC Garage, we’ll show you how to quickly and easily remove factory applied warning labels and decals. You’ll improve your bike’s appearance and provide some solace to motorcycle designers everywhere.

    Could've used this tip a week ago, Ari. =) Otherwise, excellent tips and I used them successfully. Something else for those who are about to try this, keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol handy. The glue on my FZ07 didn't wanna go away, even after multiple applications of WD40. It left these invisible glue strips that as you ride, attracts and accumulates dust onto it turning it dark so you get this blackish smudge. One wipe down with rubbing alcohol and bye bye glue goo.

    I carefully removed my warning labels and slapped them underneath the seat and inside the top case, I didn't throw them away. Since the plastic is new, it's clean and adhesive from the labels has no trouble sticking properly and they're out of sight so the bike instantly looks better. I didn't remove the VIN label located on the frame, but I did try removing the noise level compliance label from the swingarm (one of three labels on it; the other two being chain slack & tire pressure labels) and simply couldn't.
    It's not a regular sticker, it's a fragile one-time sticker covered with protective foil so I removed the foil and realized I'd have to destroy the last label in order to take it off, I couldn't peel it off in one piece so I left it there. I may go back to it with a hair dryer though, just to see if it's possible. Thanks for the tip. ;)

    I tried this heat gun thing, but the stickers bubbled up with the paint. So, I used a hammer to pound the paint bubbles back down. That didn't work really well, so I whipped out my angle grinder, and smoothed the area out somewhat. It still didn't look good, so I covered the area up with some duct tape.

      @criticalmass181 7 лет назад +3

      Yeah...The after market stuff would be a definite, for removal. The originals i'll always leave on. My bike, now, is the only one that's actually come with the warning, and fuel stickers still on. It's only just had its first service, and i'm stoked. It's got GYTR slip ons, but that's all. There's just something, for me, about it being genuine. Maybe a quick shifter, and some short levers (only because the originals won't allow much change in angle), and that'll be it. I'm pragmatic, also....but it's because the bike is beyond my skill level, these days, not because I want to keep it's resale value high. Why would I bother with a remap, and the likes, if I can't get the thing past 11,000 revs? 2013 R1, in case you're wondering.......

    • @Quinney84
      @Quinney84 7 лет назад

      Marty Smith i live in england and a new bike always needs a re map to make it run to its full smooth potential, some bike are worse than others (MV Augusta is almost un ridable in town) but because of European emmissions regulation manufacturers are having to make the bike run lean in areas of the emissions test so your power and torque curves dip and rise (not fun on a 190bhp bike) so usually another map is put in to correct the fuelling so a 2 constant curves on that dyno. map changes can make a huge difference in your bikes overall ride and power... not bad in the time it takes to drink some tea.

    I'm literally trying to remove the same exact decals on my Tuono, haha. The one's on plastic come off easy, the one's on painted metal, not so much. And what's with the damn decal on the INSIDE of the windscreen?!! Do we have to remove it to get to it?

      Heat on plexiglas will also work, but be very very gentle with the heat. Patience is your friend in that instance.

    these stickers are considered by many (at least in some countries) as a "proof of no crash" sort of thing in the 2nd hand market.
    since these only come with brand new bikes, and are not included on parts. so when you see the sticker on the tank and other parts of the bike, you know thes parts have never been replaced, which is a good indicator that the bike never crashed.

      The only think the stickers are "good" for are the liability lawyers.

    Why do you need a sunny day if you’re doing this inside your garage ?

    I just wanted to warn GSXR owners: I have a 2017 GSXR 1000 - I removed the stickers per the above video, but there is what appears to be a permanent depression in the pain now where the sticker used to be. I am not sure if maybe Suzuki clear coats over the sticker? That is what it looks like to me. Anyway, you have been warned.
