How To Remove Stickers From A Motorcycle

Removing the ugly stickers from your new motorcycle or even PWC can be a frustrating experience! Have no fear, it's super easy if you know how to do it! The most important thing is heat. A heat gun oon LOW is best, but a hair dryer real close and on High can work, it'll just take longer. Get it hot enough to start melting the adhesive and start peeling back, reheating as needed until it's free. Some will separate and make a mess, fair warning. I use GooGone on the residual and it wipes right off after a quick soak.

To remove any type of sticker including the left over glue, I use 96% alcohol. Spray the target, let it soak a few minutes and rub it all of. Works on almost any surface, fairings included.

Just taken the three warning stickers off my Speed Triple RD and used a hair dryer and WD 40 to clean up afterwards. Was nervous as its a matt black tank, but they came off really easily after heating and the WD40 sorted the goo out nicely.

I didn't use any heat at all. Just picked away at it until I got it all, and then used goo-gone like you did to get the rest up.

I've had better results with a hairdryer as you can keep the heat on constantly without burning you or the paint/plastic. Residue also comes off using a wax polish.

It would be better if you use some 80 grit sandpaper and a wood chisel. Comes right off. Then you just wipe off the residue with a combination of brake fluid and battery acid. Give it a try on your next new bike.

Congratulations on your new motorcycle :) Remove glue = WD40 ;) Remove plate holder. Little ugly ;) Put up plate. My opinion. On Amazon or Ebay have very nice aftermarket plate holder. Rizoma is very good. Your Yamaha is very nice :) Especially, colour :) I have FZ8 - 2014, race blue colour. Best regards from SERBIA - Europe :)

For removing such gunky sticker residues, i use either contact cleaners or just use zippo lighter fluid. Both works just as well.

My 2018 Yamaha r1 has q clear coat over the graphics factory from yamaha.
So yes it cant be removed unless cut it out

Check your local laws before removing warning stickers. In Australia even removing an “unleaded only” sticker on a vehicle is illegal and is used by police on safety checks to defect you vehicle when they can’t find anything else wrong.
