- We’re thrilled to announce our new album, Life Is But A Dream… available June 2, 2023. Watch our official stop-motion video for “Nobody” - directed by Chris Hopewell. Stop motion is a handmade labor of love, often taking 90 minutes just to capture only 2 seconds of footage. "Nobody" is streaming everywhere now: a7x.lnk.to/nobody
The new album was written and recorded over the span of four years, and inspired by the writing and philosophy of Albert Camus. Our good friend and brilliant artist, Wes Lang, encapsulated our theme of existentialism through visual art for the album packaging. Pre-order now: a7x.lnk.to/libad.

it's so crazy to think about how much life has changed since the last a7x album
You could say it set "The Stage"... aight, I'll see myself out.
i agree very much i just listen too the song and its pure art i love it
@@ObviouslyKieran good one!
Yea because trump was president, everything was good
That's what I was thinking too. Their last album I was in a very different life situation. Miss those days.
I can’t believe I’ve been jamming a7x since 9th grade and now I’m 34 and my daughter loves them! So crazy how life passes by. Thank you a7x for everything 🙌
Same!!❤

I am also 34, and both my kids love Avenged 🥲🥲🥲

I feel like we all grew up with them somewhere in the background of our lives or even in front at concerts and stuff but they’ve been there. Drop your age and when you started listening to a7x 👇 🤘🖤
This song is a slow gradual thing, is slowly slowly grows on you, then you realise its a master piece..
realest shit i have ever read
So true, the solo is an absolute smoker too. I remember listening through the a7x album the stage the first time is being like that was good, but nothing great. After listening through a couple more times I realized how incredibly good the album was. This band kind of does that, for me at least
👏👏👏
Exactly. I wasn't sure at first. But now i literally dream about the song.

@Hahahahahah905 imagine being this lonely 😂
Oh wow. I'm not usually a music video kinda guy but when I saw this was stop motion animated I had to watch it. The amount of love and care that requires is astonishing.
;)
What's your opinion on the little piece of heaven mv ?
Not to mention the song is literally bad as fuck 😂
@@jan6335 best from a7x in a decade.
@@jan6335 great song. Not my favorite by them tho. That would probably go to victim, or maybe danger line. Mostly because the personal connection I have with both of those songs
This is nuts. The evolution this band has naturally gone through over its career is one of the most dramatic and exciting in rock music history. They've literally checked all the boxes and continue to make up new ones as they go. I've been listening to The Stage (and the rest of the catalog, of course) at least a few times per week for the last several years...while I never tire of it I CANNOT WAIT to have a whole new album to learn every nook and cranny of.
fully agree! was thinking the other day how different the very first stuff is but i still love it all. so creative and incredible 🖤
Same as a guitar player who's biggest influence is Zachy and Syn its taken me all over the place as a player and especially learning the theory behind it.
@David Richburg ZV is one of the most underrated musicians on the planet. Syn is inhuman but without Zachy this band doesn't work. After hearing the covers where he did lead vocals I'd be very interested in hearing him do a solo thing (honestly the gap from The Stage until now was so long I thought for certain there'd be a project or 2 from some of them).
this song is meh , strings and ending solo are okay
This isn’t evolution. It’s devolution. Listen to Waking the Fallen then listen to this. They’ve completely fallen off lmao
That solo at the end is incredible
Absolutely!
I listened to this the first time by accident. The next 100 times on purpose. So great.
Every time I hear that solo I just think about the title of the song. Nobody will ever get to his level because he's just on his own level entirely. He ascended in this one. What a legend.
Everybody has such a boner for Nuno's Rise solo, and while it's great, I feel like this one is way better and should be talked about more. Its the best thing Syn has done since the end of Second Heartbeat, and possibly ever
@williamtinsley9416 agreed 💯, there's not much really going on in NBs solo.
M. Shadow's grimey voice with the industrial riff, and the melancholic, dreary tone really sells this IMO...
Honestly, I have been trying to put the feeling this song gives me into words. That's a good way to put it. That riff is almost like a siren, and I get, like an impending doomsday feeling from it.
It's very apocalyptic sounding, is what I guess I'm trying to say.
Man that ending solo sequence was a thing of beauty 🤘🏻
Or boredom
@@kingsrevenge9234 go to art school/ music school
Typical a7x fashion, love it
Sounded like shit and ended like a bad movie with no ending.
@@Marta1Buck yeah, don’t do that unless you want to start your adult life with a useless degree and debt.
Is there no one talking about that solo?! Syn is an absolute monster, his playing gets better with every new release! Crazy
And it keeps going! 3x as long as I expected.
What an amazing piece of music
Agreed. The solo is enchanting.
I said it in another video but out of Avenged Sevenfold entire catalog I believe this is hands down his best solo yet
City of evil had so many sick riffs on it
Yeah dude slays most of the heavier metal bands.
I'm 65 years old never listen to this band but this is the best song I've ever heard thank you sevenfold
Nice. Rock on. Ax7 is damn good.

Omg, if you like this you have no idea how amazing their earlier stuff is...like incomparable!!

Man would I hate to be you
Ride in the shadows, wondering beyond the frame
Float like a feather through space and time outside a dream
Pirouette with divinity in a dance we've shared before
Someone dissolution
This is "I am all" as "I am none"
Here we fly so high, no high, no coming down
Shedding weight as I'm coming undone
All that's left converging as one
I'm the sun
I'm the sun, yeah
I'm the God
I'm awake
I'm the one in everything
I'm alive
I'm the dead
I'm a man without a head
I walk with death in final exhalation
(I'm the wake) and come apart through violent separation
(I'm the one in everything) a thousand floors ascend into the ether
A lunatic enchanted by the reaper
(I'm alive) and down below I leave a stranger laying
(I'm the dead) lifeless as the light begins to shatter the skies
(I'm a man without a head) I ascend and leave behind the "used to be"
And tear the fabric worn to cover my eyes (and see)
(I see, I see) nobody
Breath in the silence
Ebb and flow among the waves
Blur on the spectrum in like a dark an equal face
All I ever was, has been and always will be
Here I am as I'm starting again
Beyond death and borne on the wind
I'm the sun
I'm the sun, yeah
I'm the God
I'm awake
I'm the one in everything
I'm alive
I'm the dead
I'm a man without a head
A crack in the darkness
A tear in the sky

And all we occupy
Return to the boundless
Immerse in the free
Letting go as you lose your name
And all you've known to be

Infinite kudos to Brooks for always keeping Jimmy’s presence in songs. I will never get tired of hearing the ‘double ride thing’ 🙏🏼
Ding duh dings ❤ I also love how EVERYONE calls it "the double ride thing" from fans , guitar players other drummer's etc. I've never heard it be referred to as anything except ding da dings or double ride thing haha
@@TPG_Plagues i believe Jimmy himself called it the "double ride thing" from a lack of better words as he's never heard anyone else do it before him.

Where was the double ride in the song. Not sure if I'm stupid but on my 5th listen I feel I've missed jt
@MuttonTinTin it's not fast but he's definitely doing a beat that he's alternating between hitting a ride on his left with his left hand and one on his right with his right hand while using the opposite hand to hit the snare every other time.

Love the entire album which truly gets better and better ever single day fo sho….
So fckn true!
Experiencing this right now
so true....
Same progression as The Stage. Remember when people said it was bad when it first came out? Now everyone talks about it like it resurrected their mother.
I interpreted this video as a PSA on men's depression. We walk, building this world, there is a ton of chaos, where is our peace? We continue to walk, searching for meaning, and all we see is death and more destruction. Excited, we get a chance for some peace, finally.....As we are observing our choices, seemingly in our oasis, we realize that it is all fake and has been a lie. Frustrated we are to learn that this peace has not been granted, we destroy all of the fakeness in our lives. As we fall into the void thinking of what could have been, it's easier to feel like you would just be better off gone. Keep your heads high men, don't ever give up, but be true to yourselves without sacrificing your integrity and value!
what are you talking about its about the skeleton that likes war
@miles41 careful the theme is if we are being sold someone else's dream then why conform. Your acting like a sheeple, ya just don't get it.
After he gets off the grim reaper's carriage he turns over rocks and flowers finding UPC codes under them.
I think the sticky note at the very end (right before he returns to his body) says "Adiell" ornament of God.
@@rn780 It more likely says "Adieu" (French for Goodbye) as the second to last song on the album Death mentions leaving a farewell letter on the fireplace and the chronology is somewhere during the final lines of Game Over as the POV character says "Adieu" before doing a thing RUclips probably won't let me mention in a comment.
I have a feeling while this video does mostly go with the song, I think a lot of the stuff here references different places from all over the album

I adore the band. The music. Their legacy. From the early 2000’s to being a young lad playing Black Ops Zombies to being a young man. It’s a sensational feeling, to feel you know their music so well. As if watching a friend grow better and greater.

I feel you I’m sitting in my work truck tearing up because I’m so happy. Has the same sound over the years too!
Same here!! I wAsnt expecting this 🖤
When I first heard this song I was thinking they got old and what the heck happened to the vocals. But the song grows on you, and obviously has a message in it. Older A7x had this tormented soul ptsd vibe, now is speaks to a bigger picture/deeper perspective on life.
Great guitar, killer drums, hypnotic vocals. Lives change, people evolve emotionally and spiritually so does Avenged, great work gentlemen.
You gotta remember also with the vocals....M is in his 40s and been thrashing his voice for 25 years....and had blood blisters on vocal chords, vocal chord surgery if I'm not mistaken. So it's not really fair to expect the dude to sound like he did in 2007...this album kicks ass!
It's not all the new songs though, his voice is fine it's just how he chose to sing this one
I heard this the first time today. A refreshing listen. Enough to seek out what piped out through the speakers in the way home. That’s something! Praise God. Rock on

I'm glad you are showing off the praise I think its a good song too. The string section is so addictive and haunting like something big is coming

You can really hear the change in Matt's voice. It sounds more weathered. Age catches up with us all but the band's service to the fans has always been exceptional over the years.
Edit:
Perhaps I should have phrased my sentiments more elaborately. The time was 3am where I am.
I love A7X. Always have, always will. I'm not bashing Matt's vocals. I'm simply making an observation. There's not a vocalist on Earth that will have the same singing voice after 20 years of singing. Listen to any track from City of Evil and then listen to any track from The Stage. Same singer, years apart, and you can hear it. That's all I'm saying. I appreciate the passionate dialogue, though. Keep it going.
I think you should wait for the rest of the album before you say something like that It could be intentional

Who else randomly hums that riff throughout the day, or is it just me.. so simple yet so fkn awesome!
I was just literally thinking the same thing, for the second time today after I caught myself humming it on the elevator this morning.
It's kinda hard to hum 😂😂 it has an unusual timbre
Every time 😂
Got fat ass new speaker and a couple of subs at work, the vibration while using ear pro with the speaker set to 110 volume shakes the clipboards on the tables and feels like someone was to touch you when the bass hits hard for this song. Welding while it's playing just makes you feel like a super hero. Good times and often find myself humming the audio even when it isn't playing 😂.
Any lead guitar players here who hear that arpeggio throughout the day?
I won't lie, this video alone is a lot yo take in. The band touched on quite a few serious and troubling societal themes in the stage album, but bow they are taking it 10 steps further and really allowing their art to take its own shape. I love their earlier crazy albums, I love those vibes, but I cannot wait to dive into this new world with A7X🤘🤘
Makes me happy to see that there's still people like you and me out there
I feel like the Stage was about science and mankind, I'm "afraid" this one will be about death and be more philosophical, like the meaning of life, what is our purpose and such. It's gonna hit us hard with feelings, self-reflection and maybe like The Stage did for me, a teensy bit of self-hatred.
Dude, Afterlife has been my favorite A7x song, actually, it has been my favorite song of all time, of all bands, of all genres, for YEARS...This song, just took that spot. This is one of the greatest songs of ALL TIME IMO. This is legit a musical masterpiece. All the sounds coming together produce an amazing result.
This song creeps up on you. There's a lot of subtle brilliance.
First time listening I couldn't even process everything correctly, but by the second time, that beautiful chorus just fucking hit me. What a crazy ass composition. Avenged is really stepping it the fuck up. never heard anything like this. I have so much faith in you, A7X, I know you guys put all your hearts and minds into these, and it shows. I was here for HTTK and Stage too. Been listening since I was a little kid and this shit blew my mind. It was so so so so perfect and the amount of respect I have for shadows for making this masterpiece while sounding relatively fried is just unbelievable.
Same. A7X forever
This feels like we are on "the stage" timeline, and we are six years into the future of where the last album ended. I can feel energy from songs like paradigm, angels, higher, and sunny disposition in this new and amazing single! The energy is beautiful and moving. I've learned of new philosophical ideals, and the journey A7X has been on has been unbound (wild ride). I can't wait for my first A7X show! I have been listening to you guys since 2010, and I will never stop.
it feels more like their self titled album too, like a mix of their roots and a new style it hits so hard

There are a metric fuck ton of bands persuing art. Most people just don't see them because they don't look for new music or take any chances.

My first impression was that this song is kind of weird and didn't really hit like I expected, but after listening a few more times I'm into it. The video is super cool, the melody is great and the solo is so good.
I just miss the wicked crazy and difficult drumming and riffs from the old days. If it's easy enough for me to play as a beginner drummer, it's a turn off. The guitar solo was good, however some drum fills would really add to the song. I'm talking City of Evil (or even Nightmare) drumming days. Getting old must really mess up the knees or something.
the solo is syns craziest solo ever in my opinion and people used to call him washed lol 💀

The best thing they've released in recent years is the B side Set Me Free, THAT'S the A7X sound that I fell in love with in the first place! I got a positive "ego death" vibe from it. It's deep for sure. I'm so happy they're back!
Ego Death, as in Polyphia? meh. That's a great example of how you can have similar ingredients (solo dancing the bridge, choppy cymbal work, up and down steady undercurrent) and yet somehow, plyphia manages to be completely soul-less ai art and a7x is bringing raw emotion. I personally can't stand polyphia although its hard to pinpoint why.. likely the complete lack of soul... but i do get the comparison.
