Being in the business for some fifty years I learned to ignore these people and stay on the property I'm taking care of. Also knowing this about the neighbor I would ware my ear protection head mounts. As long as they didn't get over the line I was just deaf to their ranting. If worse came to worse call the cops! First call the owner of the home that you are taking care of and let them know about the situation. Another thing we would do is charge an aggravation fee. We would leave a note on company stationary on the door about this, be nice inform the customer that this new surge charge would begin with the next visit. Unless we hear different it would go into effect. Don't be mild with the new added fee, generally we added fifty dollars to each visit and that is just on a normal residential property around three to five thousand sq. ft. The problem was solved about ninety nine percent of the time. You have to much other stuff to worry about than this!!
I developed a subdivision fifteen years ago and when the city planners asked about the HOA documents I told them they were dictatorial organizations and I wasn't going to impose that on anyone. If the homeowners wanted an HOA they could organize and establish one themselves but making it part of the deed covenants wasn't going to have my fingerprints on it.

I deal with the same stuff where I live. Our neighbors think they own everything and mow our lawn and freak if we step foot on theirs. We have hired a surveyor to solve it. What a nightmare this can be. We started recording their behavior and documenting it as well. Ludicrous.

If it were me, I would have made sure that I didn't get any grass on her driveway and positioned the mower so the grass was always blowing away from her driveway. I hate to say it, she did have a point about him blowing grass on her driveway.
And its mowed at top speed with a nice zero turn that has the least amount of time possible of mower run time. I don't even understand why she is so upset.

My neighbors hate me because i take such good care of my yard. They get mad when i blow leaves and debris in the road. I use to actually blow in front of my neighbors house too, doing her a favor cause shes elderly but once she started blaming me of blowing leaves in front of her house when i was actually doing completely the opposite thats when i stopped helping her and then they harass me even more now. Had a client / neighbor like this years ago (landscaping). He wanted us to build a natural stone wall out front. Built from the rocks in the side and back yards (high mountain development, rich neighborhood). Apparently for years this guy and his neighbor argued about the property line and we "got too close" to his property pulling up rocks. No lie, they both come out and starting arguing with each other as we stood there flummoxed. The things we heard about them "knowing people" and "having problems solved" and flat out threats were amazing. Cops get called, my supervisor back at the shop says to stay there and give our statements, but cease all work. We talk to the cops and once everything gets nearly wrapped up with the police, they inform us that these two individuals are "retired from the mob." We watched 2 mobsters pretty much start a war with each other over fuckin rocks. It's been about 20 years since then and I often wonder if someone has "won the war." Amazing houses by the way ($1 Mil+ houses), rich in finances but poor in what matters in life.....

If a customer has a question they say “we gotta call the boss”. 12 years in the business professionally what the neighbors think is only important to a point. Once they start acting like that they don’t deserve respect. If they are harassing you call the cops. But I don’t owe it to disrespectful people to engage in that level. We are the number 1 rated service in our town and this is how we handle our 7 figure business.

What is she even upset about? That your mower touches her grass line? How can anyone at all mow the edge of that lawn without touching the wheel on her side. Both lawns meet and touch one another, so it's impossible to treat it without slightly being on her side when mowing. I believe it's impossible to avoid... What argument is she possibly going to have if she pursues this? I'm genuinely confused. If she doesn't want ANYTHING touching her grass ever, then she needs to put a small picket fence or something across the property line. As of now, her grass is touching your grass, so if she has a problem with you mowing that grass line, she needs to separate it completely. If she really wants to get that technical with you touching her grass, she has no argument until she completely separates her grass from touching your lawn. I refuse to believe someone would be mad for this reason though. She's stepping all over her grass yet she's mad about your wheel touching it? I'd be rightfully upset if I was in your shoes. Some people are just out right crazy. Next time I'd have on a body cam for protection, put in headphones and just ignore her. This'll set her over the top and I believe over time she'll stop bugging you. She's clearly crazy, there is no reasoning with someone like this. The less attention you give to her, the less headache you'll have over time.
I have had several customers neighbors like this. In the end, I just let the yard go and fully explained my situation to the good customer, who completely understood. Trust me EVERYONE in that neighborhood is fully aware of 'Karen'. But in the end for my peace of mind and business reputation, getting as far away from this situation was the best thing to do. Peace

While not the worse, by engaging with her, he said some things that he really shouldn’t have, and could be used as evidence how ‘he provoked her’ in other, unrecorded confrontations. Best rule of thumb is - be polite. Extra and overly polite. Not rolling over for them, but just very, very polite. With a nice undertone of sarcasm, but not to much, just enough to sweeten the bitter of being polite to that type of ppl, but subtle enough so that they don’t really notice.

Had a client / neighbor like this years ago (landscaping). He wanted us to build a natural stone wall out front. Built from the rocks in the side and back yards (high mountain development, rich neighborhood). Apparently for years this guy and his neighbor argued about the property line and we "got too close" to his property pulling up rocks. No lie, they both come out and starting arguing with each other as we stood there flummoxed. The things we heard about them "knowing people" and "having problems solved" and flat out threats were amazing.
Cops get called, my supervisor back at the shop says to stay there and give our statements, but cease all work. We talk to the cops and once everything gets nearly wrapped up with the police, they inform us that these two individuals are "retired from the mob." We watched 2 mobsters pretty much start a war with each other over fuckin rocks. It's been about 20 years since then and I often wonder if someone has "won the war."

What is she even upset about? That your mower touches her grass line? How can anyone at all mow the edge of that lawn without touching the wheel on her side. Both lawns meet and touch one another, so it's impossible to treat it without slightly being on her side when mowing. I believe it's impossible to avoid... What argument is she possibly going to have if she pursues this? I'm genuinely confused. If she doesn't want ANYTHING touching her grass ever, then she needs to put a small picket fence or something across the property line. As of now, her grass is touching your grass, so if she has a problem with you mowing that grass line, she needs to separate it completely. If she really wants to get that technical with you touching her grass, she has no argument until she completely separates her grass from touching your lawn. I refuse to believe someone would be mad for this reason though. She's stepping all over her grass yet she's mad about your wheel touching it? I'd be rightfully upset if I was in your shoes. Some people are just out right crazy. Next time I'd have on a body cam for protection, put in headphones and just ignore her. This'll set her over the top and I believe over time she'll stop bugging you. She's clearly crazy, there is no reasoning with someone like this. The less attention you give to her, the less headache you'll have over time.
I have had several customers neighbors like this. In the end, I just let the yard go and fully explained my situation to the good customer, who completely understood. Trust me EVERYONE in that neighborhood is fully aware of 'Karen'. But in the end for my peace of mind and business reputation, getting as far away from this situation was the best thing to do. Peace

Best rule of thumb is - be polite. Extra and overly polite. Not rolling over for them, but just very, very polite. With a nice undertone of sarcasm, but not to much, just enough to sweeten the bitter of being polite to that type of ppl, but subtle enough so that they don’t really notice.
