Thanks, just ordered from Amazon now $72 because of your review. Like you, no need for streaming; just want a blu-ray player to go with my 1080p system. I'm 72 and 'a little slow' to upgrade (still use a flip phone). I'm glad you referred to it as a DVD/blu-ray unit I was never sure you could play DVDs on a blu-ray machine. BTW I always buy Sony units.
I just purchased the sony BDP-BX370. I have a sony smart TV and have a fire stik subscribed to netflex and youtube TV already. Do I need to connect to wi fi just want this to play DVDs ? Best setup for my needs? No wi fi?
I wish I had seen your video before I set it up with wifi.. What a mistake. How can I change the setup and take the wifi connection out? Thank you for a great video. Donna
I don't know the answer to that unfortunately. It depends on the universal remote and its ability to be compatible with Sony and Blu-Ray players. Thanks for watching.
Do you have to have a Smart TV for it to work? I don't have one, but I only wanted to be able to watch Blu ray movies, but I can't seem to get it set up to work with the HDMI cable, so do I need to get another connector that goes along with the HDMI? Hope this make sense.
@@cindywest2689 You do not need a smart TV. As long as you have HDMI connection on your TV, it should work so not sure what may be the issue in your situation.
@@cindywest2689 Yes, you will need to make sure your TV’s input is on HDMI in order for you to see the Blu-Ray player, disc menu, watch the Blu-Ray. You should find that option on your TV remote via clicking the input button.
I just bought an open box from eBay for $35. from ebay BDP S3700 model . I also was looking at the Sony BDP BX3700 and they were in the same price range and seem to have the same features. So I’m wonder why Sony has 2 models blue-ray players and maybe one came out before and one is the newer model?
Can you play 4k on this blueray? I mean it wont be 4k but just to see the movie ? Its planet of the apes trilogy 4k? Havent gotten movie yet but bought it will it work on here?
I can't speak to watching 4K with this Blu-Ray as my TV is 1080p. However, it comes with a 4K HDMI cable so it should have that capability to watch it. Thanks for watching.
If you hit the DISPLAY button on the lower right part of the remote while you are watching, it will show you the time elapsed/remaining on the disc. Thanks for watching!
I actually have a weird question. When you press play, or when you navigate through a dvd menu, does a play/pause icon keep popping up at the bottom left, like the PlayStation DVD players do ? I don't know if you see what I'm talking about
Can you please tell me if Sony players accept both 110-240v? I am thinking to buy a Region A player and was thinking to get this but I live in middle east so need to make sure if this player is compatible. Do you also have any ideas about voltage of supplied adaptor brick? Is it 12 v AC adaptor?
I would suggest just looking here at Sony's self-support website on this player to answer any specific questions you may have: www.sony.com/electronics/support/home-video-blu-ray-disc-players-recorders/bdp-bx370
We can't turn it off and/or eject the dvd with the control, or work the volume with the control. Does this mean we're doing it wrong or does it mean there is something set up wrong or wrong with the player? Thanks
Hi Janice, this is happening with a new player? Does the remote control have new batteries in it? You're able to turn on the player with the remote but can't turn it off?
No, you would have to get a different type of Blu-Ray player from Sony. See this link from Amazon on the product and scroll down to see the variety of Sony player options that do allow you to play 4K Ultra HD. Thanks for watching! www.amazon.com/Sony-BDPBX370-Blu-Ray-Player-Wi-Fi/dp/B01I5QZN8E?th=1
Actually you CAN receive 4K Ultra: (verify this by researching, like I did. HDMI slots 1 & 4 play only HD. If your TV has a HDMI 2 & 3, THOSE CONNECTIONS ARE DEDICATED to receiving the higher def, basically 4K- Ultra. 😊😊😊😊
Only one time was it making a lot of noise and I think it's because the front of the player was positioned beyond the ledge of the TV stand you see here in this video. So far, in the 6 months or so of owning it, as long as the player is placed fully on the stand, it's been quiet. Thanks for watching!
It is easy to set up. There is an option to put an Ethernet cord in. As I mentioned in the video, I actually do not connect the Internet to the device. I solely use it for playing DVDs and Blu-Rays so I cannot speak to that. But, from what I've gathered through the Internet reviews, the issues seem to come from WiFi connection with apps so there may be issues with buffering. Thanks for watching!
I didn't hear you mention it in your review...is your TV 1080p, 4K or 8K? How does the DVD up-scaling look? I'm torn between getting this model and the BDP-6700 (which has 4K up-scaling).
1080p. So, unfortunately, if you're looking for 4K upscaling, I can't speak to that with this model. But I've found myself satisfied with it visually for both Blu-Ray and DVD on 1080p.
Yes, CDs and DVDs work in them as I have used both in the player. The HDMI cable I'm currently using is gold plated so you should be good as well on that. Thanks for watching!
I would directly ask this question to Sony or via their store on Amazon (www.amazon.com/Sony-BDPBX370-Blu-Ray-Player-Wi-Fi/dp/B01I5QZN8E?th=1). As I am based in the U.S., I don't want to provide you with the wrong answer and knowing the history of differences (VHS vs. PAL/DVD regions), it's very possible even if it had outlet arrangements, it still wouldn't be able to play European-based Blu-Rays. Sorry I can't be of more definitive help. Thanks for watching.
@@prayerposition1I know it's been a while, however, I just purchased this player for use in the UK. It is dual voltage which means it can be used anywhere. I purchased a UK 110-240v plug and it's 100%. Paid £70 for the player rather than £150+ for a chipped region free which has been messed with.
If you mean, does the run time of what you are playing show up on display on the player itself, no it doesn't. Run time only appears as a display on the screen as you play the disc/watch something.

Did you try playing movies from a USB flash drive? That would be my main reason for purchasing the device. I need to connect it to a projector and play movies from a flash drive.
I do not use this to play anything from a USB flash drive. However, I tested it out based off your question and a .MOV file from a USB did not work for me -- the audio was there but not the video. .JPG photos could be seen from the same flash drive. So, I would suggest trying to find out which files are compatible with this device with the type of files you are trying to play from your flash drive. Thanks for watching!
