- Barred owls are known for their call which sounds like the phrase, "who cooks for you, you cooks for you all?" This is often how these owls are identified in the wild. Barred owls live in old growth forests and often stay perched high in dense foliage during the day, so it's not often they're actually seen. While they are less aggressive than great horned owls, barred owls rival these iconic birds in size, however, the slightly smaller barred owl will give up its territory to a threatening great horned owl. Previously, barred owls were only found on the eastern side of the United States, however they've started moving to the West coast in the past century. This puts pressure on the spotted owls who live in similar territories.

Barred Owls are often out during the day. My first time seeing and hearing them was in a holler in Clay City, KY. There was a dense growth of trees and they moved around and made their unique calls to each other in broad daylight. It was just awesome!
I love this owl's call. I've had very few times in the wild I've gotten to see and/or hear them. They are powerful and are not picky about their prey.
They have one of the best bird calls for sure!
I had one in my backyard (Milford,PA) the other night. I’ve been using my Bluetooth speaker to call since lol!
Reminds me of the Bob white quail! Strange how humans will hear anything when they're trying to hear something
I really like your videos. Underrated youtube channel.
Thanks so much!
Fantastic friend!!
Yayyyy! I waited for this!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@AnimalFactFiles i did :D
Love Love LOVE owls!
Thanks!
Us, too! Haven't heard from you in a bit, hope you're doing well
@@AnimalFactFiles Thanks! Sorry about the comments drying up. I started a new job and life got crazy busy suddenly. I've been watching and liking, but less commenting.
Still loving your content, however!
I hear these every day
That's so cool!
Thank you for teaching us about this beautiful owl! Is it called "barred owl" because the stripes on the front make it look a little bit like it's behind bars?
I believe that might be part of the reason! Great observation!
Does Barred Owls in the False Owls or True Owls? Anyways, great facts as always 👍🏻 pls do Asian Black Bears ❤️
They already did gorilla
Monke
@@theanimalshow6538 You're right 😅 Thanks 👍🏻
They're in the "true owl" family!
These owls and great horned owls will destroy your rabbit, quail, and pheasant population in just a few years. Also an owl call works well to get turkeys to start gobbling early in the morning while they are still in roost. Helps to get close to the roost when hunting turkeys 🦃
Can you talk about muskoxen?
For sure! Great suggestion!
I thought it'll literally cook something
That would be impressive!
Who is white cat?
I appreciate anything that can kill them cicadas...you go wasp! #Pettypodcastshow
