Beautiful, beautiful Owl!! Love their hooting. I hear the Owl hooting at least 2-3 times a week. Sound beautiful! My mom never even hear an Owl hoot before!
When I was a kid, my dad volunteered at a local raptor recovery site. They had a barred owl named Miracle. During the Clinton administration, the whole thing with spotted owls came up and some logger got a hold of her and staked her to a tree. By the time the lady who ran the center found her, one wing was so infected, it had to be amputated. I got to hold her during a public showing and she was a treat to hold. She was so affectionate and sweet. Barred owls are so cute!
I live next to a state forest in NY and hear these all the time. I have seen much bigger owls of different species, though. These ones you usually only hear.
He's suffered a wing injury and couldn't fly anymore, but got the chance to have thousands more babies than he ever would have in the wild. My man's eyes say it all. "Do what you must, for I have already won"
What I enjoyed learning today thanks to the WMCC's Director Carrie: Barred owls have asymmetrical ears and lack the ability to smell. While the owl lacks the sense of smell, it is able to 'triangulate' exactness. That's quite a trade off.

Of interest this morning, since a large Barred overflew my coffee perch, vocalizing, predawn. We live in a North Texas pecan orchard. Thanks for a wonderful description, Carrie!
Beautiful presentation and narration and an equally magnificent bird.
It's around midnight and I had to walk out to my barn here in eastern NC a few minutes ago. On my way back to the house, I heard a loud barred owl calling in the woods. What a beautiful sound.
I have seen 3 of them in my backyard lately. So I guess Washington has them. The crows are relentless when it comes to harassing them. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed!
He seems super chill.
Carrie you have a very enthusiastic manner. I think you've found your calling in education. Great video ... almost five years old.
Thank you so much for this video!!
A young Barred owl sat for awhile (20min at dusk) in my largest birdbath a few weeks ago. She/he was the first owl I have seen since I moved here to NW Washington State 6yrs ago. What an honor to be visited by this amazing bird!
What a wonderful encounter, Erin! May you have many more:-) Have a peace-filled season.
Owl sounds
Shakespeare: The Barred of Avon.🤣
Beautiful, beautiful Owl!! Love their hooting. I hear the Owl hooting at least 2-3 times a week. Sound beautiful! My mom never even hear an Owl hoot before!
She did a great Job explaining the Animals Behavior and Habits I learned so much just watching the Vid, Thankyou
Last week, in a tree near my balcony I heard a barred owl. I believe 2 or 3 nights in a row. Beautiful sounds, beautiful bird
He is so cute
When I was a kid, my dad volunteered at a local raptor recovery site. They had a barred owl named Miracle. During the Clinton administration, the whole thing with spotted owls came up and some logger got a hold of her and staked her to a tree. By the time the lady who ran the center found her, one wing was so infected, it had to be amputated. I got to hold her during a public showing and she was a treat to hold. She was so affectionate and sweet. Barred owls are so cute!
Lord Have Mercy on the human race
we have barred owls all over central Florida too.. love them!
I live next to a state forest in NY and hear these all the time. I have seen much bigger owls of different species, though. These ones you usually only hear.
He is so adorable 🥰
He is so beautiful!!!
Owls are great
Your imitation of a Barred owl is great! I had to look around...even though I'm in the den. !Laughing! Thanks for posting!!
Awesome !
A ton of these guys lived in a bunch of trees outside my bedroom window growing up. That "who cooks for you" call kept me up for so many years 😅
I love to hear these owls 🦉and I love to hear you talk about them
That guy looks as chill as @$!#%
