I have almost exclusively played WT naval (little planes just to unlock good bombers) and let me tell you…..few things are as satisfying when you’re on a roll with the Graf Spee….you literally feel like a god smashing smaller ships with your shells. Plus being a bomber and knocking out a ship while flying through clouds of flak is just awesome.
I can tell you that I've had the exact same experience with the World of Warships version of the Spee, its a great ship for aggressive plays. That said, I did have to pay for the Spee in WoWS, you got it for free.
The Spee is fun until you get crowned on by Scharnhorst, or more likely Krondstadt but I bring Spee with my Scharnhorst lineup along with Kaiser and VonDerTaan whatever her name is. But at 5.7 she is a beast along with HMS Marlborough and her 15in guns.
@@furious_wrath7079the spee struggles in uptiers as the cannons there can easily penetrate her citadel armor, meaning it won’t last long unless playing very defensively. Below 6.0 however it is basically god (as long as there are no torpedoes because it was built for speed not maneuverability)
I can see the biggest annoyance with WT naval is you pound the tar out of ships just to have a teammate somehow take that kill leaving you an "assist". That would annoy the hell out of me.
@@kuninagako9035 true but at least in wows thanks to a visible enemy health bar you know when you're getting close. You just have to worry about kill stealers. With this, unless I'm missing something, you can't tell how close an enemy is dead until it actually dies.
@@Moon_Cricket_Stinks your both missing something. Kills dont actually matter. You get a ribbon yes but that ribbon gives borderline nothing. The amount of damage you deal is what matters so even if they "stole" the kill, it doesnt matter cus they got borderline not credit for it. I dont know how it works in War Thunder.
@@AmocideB it works in a similar way in WT, the amount of damage you do to a target is important, but getting the kill does give you a better reward modifier for that damage
@@ElGoogKO "from the actual gamers" You mean from the grass-less players. AB is a real gamemode that requieres skill and prevents you from staying in a spot with bushes and snipe.
As Naval player since Naval CBT i can confirm.. Don't play naval unless you agree to 1.) Have the repair cost 2x much more expensive than the jet top tier cost 2.) Spaded the f out of entire ship since the RP gain on naval are quite sh*t without premium 3.)Agro by entire team cause you spawn to early 4.) CCCP bot that sometimes ddos the server 5.) Having emotional damage because your small PP can't penetrate battleship/heavy cursier belt armor
One aspect of the War Thunder grind I like, is that you don't need to play the previous vehicle to unlock the next one, so in theory you could unlock a BB by just playing cruisers or if you absolutely hate the ship, plane or tank before the next one you can ignore it. In World of Warships the Free XP is just way too little and to convert the ship extra XP to Free XP will cost real money so it is essential to stick to the previous ship even if you hate the thing.
I have different opinion that I like wows more because Im suffering from Warthunder module research too its took me so long to make ship playable and I dont like the captain skill that lack due to realistic > feature
@@RamRockTH Honestly captain skills kinda annoy me in wows especially because of the grind for level 21 and that some ships are only usable with those 21 points and the constant having to use elite commander XP, Free XP or dubs if you want to use few commanders but need to retrain them for tech tree ships. However I will agree that the module research system from tier 3 to top is very much unfun, frustrating and a thing that needed to be fixed a long time ago, I think it would be way less frustrating if they cut the exp needed by at least 50% overall and had essentials out of the gate.
@@RamRockTHuhh… same in wows? And some ships can be spaded within the first 10 matches, meaning you sometimes won’t even have to pay repair costs before its spaded and thus at max efficiency
@@KazuoLucasas someone who just bought the japanese premium sub i-56, this is true. It’s such a bad time until all modules, upgrades and skills are applied
You try to make anything out with detail at 10km or more. I just wish they changed the zoom to better than the x6 or x8 they have in game now. I play war thunder far more than wows because the control in accuracy and firepower.
I think that's the least significant 'issue' with the game's visuals. The game is all around very ugly, the terrain and sea looks terrible. A ship having a flat silhouette from extreme distance is to be expected.
There are two more differencies for me: 1. The details on war thunder ships better and not just when you watch them in the dock but when your ship get hit and different parts fall or blow out from it. 2. The sea in general: as the ship make waves or when the ship is turning and leaning aside or these affect for aiming makes me feel my ship is really on the sea. In wows I feel like my ship is sliding or carving on ice after war thunder navy. I play with both games but if I don't want to disappoint I play with wows first... Thanks for your comparative video, I experienced in the same way.
Agreed. The ships in wt also feel far larger as the camera is closer to them, they are modeled in greater detail and actually habe mass (momentum and the possibility to capsize from flooding), whereas wows ships often feel like go karts
I like War Thunder for playing with a friend more, because of the respawn system. If I play with somebody and he gets destroyed early in WoWS, he has to wait for me and do nothing, in WT you have the whole lineup of vehicles you can respawn with or at least a backup for the vehicle you died in. And even if you both die early in WoWS you cannot use that ship until the battle ends, which is not the case in WT.
My adult son was kinda intimidated by the detail going into wows, I can't imagine him wanting to invest the time in WT. He actually tried WT flight some years ago with several of his friends, but they didn't last long. It seems that though wows is more arcade, people can come in as new players more easily and do alright. Albeit, I think people do better when they know armor, pen angles, shell specs, etc. Good vid.
I played War Thunder ground battles after playing a lot of world of warships, and the game showing you how shells can bounce right off a tank made me realize, that since World of Warships also has ricochet mechanics, going full broadside against a battleship while using a cruiser was literal suicide, so it helped me avoid that and be actually good at the game.
I'm not gonna lie I wish war thunder wasn't spawn and in the fight immediately. But I personally love the slow turns and the physics behind them more than wows. The internal damage and the one volley Salvo and hitting a mag room is just to satisfying. I wish wows would have the turning physics and DC like war thunder but I've definitely changed games and sad I didn't play it sooner. But I only tried it because of you playing it
I know its an Example but I feel like I should mention that From my experience on War Thunder Naval Putting out fires takes priority over anything else, since unlike World of Warships the Fire can and Will spread to other parts of the Ship depleting crew fast and with the chance of blowing up your magazines while the flooding can be managed by slowing down your ship
I feel like comparing both games is like OW2 vs TF2 While WoWs require teamwork, less player/team, just one noob can ruin the entire game. While WT people just don't care much about objectives and try to blow other's shit up.
Gaijin don’t really promote ships like Wargaming does imo. I see quite a few sponsored streams for WoWS even among WT youtube channels. Nothing like that for WT naval.
I'm a War Thunder Naval player who recently started trying WoWS and you said almost exactly what I think between the two c= I do find the least grindy and more fast-paced nature of WoWS to be refreshing sometimes but I still prefer WT Naval One advice I'd give to anyone coming over from WoWS trying out WT is to learn how to aim and shoot without relying on the marker since it can help a lot in many situations not having to rely on it, there was a time where I forgot it was there so I didn't use it for a while and it helped making me better at aiming without it which is great, though of course once you're in long-ranged sniper ships you'd have to rely on it to be proficient
AI Gunners go BRRRRRT! believe me i tried dive bombing a few ships.....it didn't work. To be honest the biggest difference's between the 2 are Damage Models (particularly on the planes), Aiming and Ballistics (including Armor), Vehicles having realistic physics and characteristics realistic modes (things feel like they have "weight" to them) and how "health" works (a modeled Crew vs a HP bar).
I had come across a Jingles video of Wows and thought WOW! this looks like fun. It became available on Steam a month or so later and fell in love. The relatiionship with this game is different today, but i do still enjoy it. I don't get that intrigue with War Thunder. Your monthly vid is enough for me. Good content. Thank you
I don't play war thunder at all but the damage is neat, if they added that sort of stuff to wows, I'd play that again, ships should list, sink properly etc
Warthunder Naval looks like it would be very enjoyable if a ship had two or more players as crew members. Kinda similar to Barotrauma I guess (since I've played that recently). You'd have a captain and a gunner essentially.
And btw, easiest way to kill the ship in WT is by Shell Room detonation. Not sure why it wasn't mentioned in the video, even you killed Hyuga from Scharnhorst that way.
13:34 one note in there: WoW does have the individual damage in the artillery, secundary armament, AA guns, torps, engine and manuvering... Engine and manuvering will be repaired after some time, but if you get hit another time in your already knockout turret or torpedoes tubes, it will be destroyed and cannot be repaired. Same for AA guns and secundary, but it´s by percentage status, similar to HP. if you get too much HE damage, fire damege or even overwhelming AP damage, that HP will drop and can knock off these guns, whitch makes less effective over time.
@@Joshua-fi4ji Same here. I really wanted to grind the Leopard 2A6 in WT. But the grind is atrocious. Played 3 Months with premium till i gave up at 5.7. It felt so bring playing almost 2 months through some PZ IV variations. A lot of friends also gave up because the grind made it extremely boring to play because it felt like there wasn't much progression.
@@Anldiot69 BRO WTF DONT TELL ME YOU GAVE UP THE GRIND ON 5.7 USING A GODDAMN PREM account! I have grinded all the way to 7.3 without a prem account bruh.. I envy you that you even have a prem account 💀
@@-saklo-2256 No, War Thunder has a horrible progression system my guy. Doesn't matter what you have played before, just by checking Steam reviews u instantly see hundreeds if not even thousands of players witk 1k+ hours leaving the game because of that. I currently have about 15 hours in WoW and I have 3 Tier VI ships. Played WT before, never again, too much grinding if you're a casual player and WoW seems so smooth and fine if u just wanna have a 15 minute break. If u're fast and have a good team u could even do 2 full games in 15 minutes in WoW and at high Tier the rewards are huge, 10k+ XP per game if u've done well considering it takes about 300k to unlock a Tier X ship. If you'd play non-stop and be a good player so u can achieve high XP constantly it wouldn't take u no more than 1-2 weeks to go from Tier 1 to Tier X and that says a lot. Also ships are cheaper and WoWs events seem way polished, rn u can get California for $8 instead of $35 if u play through the event.
Repair prioritizing also depends on your ship. If your BC or BB fires 1st breach Repair 2nd unwatering 3rd. Those ships hold water quite well. Fires eat crew up quickly if unchecked
Heads up from a vet who plays wt alot be ready to die in secs do to everyone can 1 shot you if you don't know the vehicles strengths and weaknesses and what it can and can not fight some times there nothing u can do against a vehicle do to they have bigger guns more armor or just better ammo like apfsds and you don't have that.
Naval has actual functional AA too. Just some advice before you start is to go into controls for naval and be familiar with your secondary and AA targeting. Then you want to go to options and disable auto aim. Just tap X to lock onto a target you want to shoot at and all you have to do is shoot around the green circle that will appearance your crew has measured the range.
The thing is ships in War Thunder they don't have HP bars per se like World of Warships does if you want to take down a ship in War Thunder you have to hit critical engine and ship components to bring it down. That's why you're able to one shot tanks in the tank section of War Thunder because it functions off the same damage model. And ships are literal the biggest tanks we have, makes sense that they could take a ton of fire and just keep trucking along.
One major thing I don’t think you mentioned about in the damage mechanics section of the video is that in war thunder you can bypass whittling down the crew on most ships by detonating the main ammunition storage. On ships like the Moffet, most British destroyers and Des Moines class, their easy to detonate ammunition storages are a significant weakness.
things i wish WoW borrowed from war thunder: sound. the sound fx like guns firing just sounds so good; like im on the deck of the ships themselves, very immersive. WoW sounds more muted like im in a spotter plane watching the battle. and AA vs planes, so good. things i wish war thunder borrowed from WoW: aiming aids. if they're trying to simulate a real ship with crew, then they might as well simulate all the crew that does the firing resolutions and calculations for you. there's really no reason to let you (the captain) make all the calculations urself (thats actually less realistic). i think as a game, it would be more "fun" if they do the rough calculations for you (ie WoW) and let you do the finer adjustments based on player skills.
I haven't played WT & will not start, I have too much time invested in WoW over the past 6 years, I have over 150 Ships & Captains. I love that the games in WoW are short, I used to play a online World War game that took weeks, months or in a few games over a year to finish.
As a WT player I'm jealous of WoW's UI and terrain graphics, it's so nicer looking. WoW's map looks really cool too. The islands in WT are fairly ugly lol.
Citadel is a term specifically for the internal, armored box around the engines and magazines. My understanding is that these are the only areas WoWs cares about for citadel calculations.
I’m on Play Station so I have WOW Legends to compare. I’m usually playing war Thunder because I like how it feels to control the ships even though aiming is frustrating at times. I’m also not a fan of the Legends in game shop. It costs a lot of real money to get anything and I will be grinding a very long time to get my in game credits back up to a good level.
Can agree to that had to stop playing my favorite tank the tiger 10.5 with the special skin I got for it. 14,500 SL is bs on it it vs cold war tanks all the time and is not even that op
WT is generally a good game but from what I've seen, only till tier 3-4 if you're not willing to pay for premium. The two things I find more bull are having to research fire & repair (as you said) and the fact that xp or sl bonuses that you earn in game disappear from your inventory in 3 days, you can't just save them for later. That imo is completely unnecessary and overly predatory.
@@HamburgerMolester thats in for Long that you can be repaired by teammates and on Tanks they can Help you with fire also since a few Updates, in Cap zones you can repair without spareparts but getting there is unlikely when damaged in the engine/Transmission
@@nighthawk8104 all good. Naval has been wrought with problems since it started. Not many ppl stayed with it. Seems to be in pretty reasonable shape now though. But I'm not counting on that to last. Not too long ago everyone started having severe frame rate issues all of a sudden. Took probably two months for them to fix it. So there is the real possibility of some new random issue developing. The only reason I stuck through it is because I'm addicted to huge guns lol.
Its actually dumb how maneuverable battle ships are in warships. Huge heavy battle ships shouldn't be able to stop and go and turn on a swivel the way they do.
22:44 I get that like in war thunder I wanted to grind the Japanese navy but I knew it would take a really long time to do so but since I’ve started playing world of warships I’ve got all the ships that are in war thunder within a week or two like war thunder is a joke when it come to research for the vehicles
Economy in WT... you forgot to mention you can grind an entire line with a single vehicle and only play the ones you want. This sorta replaces the fxp side of things. And premiums offer the fastest way to grind them. Also check out enduring confrontation in wt for naval, matches can go for hours (you don't have to stay for the whole thing) it's a bit of an improvement over the random battles where you can shoot from spawn to spawn.
"Take 3, ACTION!", always good to see a comparison between the 2 games. War Thunder will always be the more "realistic" of the 2 particularly if you play in Realstic or Sim mode, while World Of Warships is more "pick up and play", easy to learn hard to master. OH GOD THE GRIND, yeah WoWS wins in that department HANDS DOWN, with some dedication (even with a job) you can get to tier 10 in a few months. War Thunder.....your grinding for YEARS if you Suck.
For me.. Who only plays arcade Warthunder, I find it much more enjoyable than my last experience with World of Tanks... The gold spam in the game just got annoying. Yea Warthunder has those one shot tanks but no premium ammo on anyone. I love flying planes too in Warthunder. However, I am not a fan of Warthunder Naval, I will keep playing WoWS. It's a skill issue not a game play issue, I just don't feel like figuring out right now lol
I like to play realistic vs arcade in WT. Aiming REALLY comes into play as well as some good RNG. Like with tanks, ammo racking is a very good choice. Focusing on neutering the enemy first is also a very good idea! I do try to avoid long range if possible since plunging AP can just nuke ur ship. That closer engagement allows for more armor usage and strategy imho.
repair is free in warthunder if you have premium. you get one free fire extinguisher and can unluck a secound. parts is also stock but you can upgrade it to be better and the one who does most dmg to a target gets the kill and you get xp based of % of the dmg you did alot have changed the last 6 month
WT advice... NEVER play coastal. It's the crappiest thing ever invented. Go buy a mid tier generally cheap Destroyer (around 4.7-5.0 BR) in Bluewater , and by the time you finish the tree you'll already have a good amount of SL (main currency) to spend everywhere.
The WT grind: I have 6000 hours in that game... I still don't have every tanks line in every nation done... okay I have done planes a bit but still.... in 6000 hours a WoWs player will have researched and resent a few lines. Unlike WoWs, you need to get good if you want to get to top tier. Or buy your way in but that isn't the point. WT is great fun after the first few 100 hours
i dunno I've tried War thunder Naval a few times and i struggle getting into it, The guns don't sound as good, the aiming kinda sucks and feels weird, while the ships do feel massive, as they should, WoWs to me is just a better experience. Now ground forces and planes WT has Wargaming beat hands down though
The aiming takes time it's because you have to do the calculations as your moving like in real life where WOW does all that for you and all need to do is aim ahead of the ship to hit it. Also ships is still in bata they just started them not that long ago so they need time to work things out. Takes time to learn but can agree that aiming in ships does feel like crap even when you do learn it
I am so glad when I got into "battle games" I bought DCS on sale. Have never had the urge to touch warthunder. I only play wows because I can't get my friends to play dcs with me.
you can save costs by not paying for repairs and shell after each match. the only downside of war thunder is that the time for the reparation is in game time and not off game.
I remember playing WT years ago. Got up to the Bearcat and suddenly every match I was getting shit on by jets, because for some reason the matchmaker took my highest value plane and put me up against the lowest value plane everyone else had. If you want an indication of how long they've had these balancing issues, when I quit they were just starting to pioneer ground forces.
It's better now. You play against ppl +/- one battle rating from your highest br vehicle. So if you're in a 5.3 plane you won't be facing anything higher than 6.3. And of course it goes the other way, sometimes you get matched against 4.3 planes.
@@HamburgerMolester Even then it was supposed to give you a BR based on the average of the active planes in your hangar (assuming they weren't too different, i.e. someone trying to scum by putting a jet in with a bunch of starter biplanes), but it did not. I'm glad to hear that it's better now but I got burned badly enough that I won't be touching anything that Gaijin has had its hands on. Same with WG
Crew is one way to kill a ship. Wouldnt call it main way. black out sections...youre ship is destroyed. flodding yes - or torpedos can take you out instantly depending on the hit. But nice to see WT naval again....:)
It is entirely possible for a flooded front section to simply drag you under water and your forward mementum does the rest, like in real life. The capsizing mechanics are worth being aware of :) Flooding is the #1 issue to be dealt with, IMO.
I’m surprised people get a sim feel from WT naval. Atleast in realistic, once you get used to the range control, it feels just as Arcadey as WoWs. Gameplay wise, they feel very similar in that sense. I think like you said, the grind is what feels different. In WoWs, for the most part, you have to get play the previous ship to unlock the next one. But for WT naval, you can play any ship one Tier above or below to research a particular ship. The downside to this is that WT makes you unlock atleast 4-5 ships before you can research the next tier meaning usually you have to unlock ALL ships of that tier to get to the next tier due to how few ships are in WT. Oh and WT naval is incredibly BR compressed. For context battle rating goes in increments of 1/3 and each battle’s BR bracket is 1.0 BR wide (so like 4.7-5.7). The issue is that, aside from reserve vehicles, the lowest BR blue water ship is 4.0 and the highest BR ship is 7.0. For context, this is like queuing up in a tier 7 DD in WoWs and seeing tier 10s with 12 km Radar in your lobby.
i grinded almost whole US tech tree ships in WT just because it's easy to complete event tasks in naval, and let me say, even though wows is more "casual", WT is way more easier to play. let me guide you into WT naval gameplay: 1. Pick your ship and spawn 2. click "shift" (by default) and find closest target 3. wait for green and aim your guns 0.2-0.4 km closer 4. hold left button There is no simulator part in this game except slowness of ships
I just got into World of Warships and have played Warthunder Naval for awhile. I agree that unlocking the vehicles takes less time in WoWS BUT unlocking the commanders to get the good skills for them is horrible. The currency to get them is time gated and a very high 175k coal. Even though Warthunder may take awhile to unlock a ship, it can be accomplished depending on your play rate and that's it, unlocked is unlocked. I think WOWS has the more frustrating system tbh.
Been playing WOWS since 2017 (EU + NA) and WT since 2018 (mainly tanks and planes, in Naval mostly coastal, a bit of blue water). Both games are "good/great" and definitively both games have their issues. Over the years, personally I prefer playing WT over WOWS as I enjoy more the variety offered within the game (modes: arcade, realistic, simulator, custom battles, missions, user made missions be it for planes, tanks, helis, ships individually or all of them combined). Ref. WT Naval, we often play "custom battles" and do boat racing with coastal ships (upto 60 boats !!!, some boats can do upto 132 kph in arcade mode) plus 4 helis for aerial race footage. It´s just so hilarious for having ridiculous fun. Imho, one can do way more "silly" fun things in WT than WOWS, if one wishes to do so. Just go have fun in WOWS and/or WT, it's just a game !
Props to organising custom battles/races! I always felt that custom is much better way to play games, than to relly on automatic matchmaking. I had way more fun during the school with custom games in various games than I have now with auto matchmaking often. I am not a social guy, so I tend to lean on automatic, but still great to see people putting effort for custom games, matches, lobbies, whatever.
@Sea Lord Mountbatten :Reinstalled warships after i reinstalled war thunder. I Tried both games on release and now again and i must say your review is how it is.
I like the fact that you went in depth into it, thats cool. I can't play War Thunder Naval at all. I've tried to give it a chance. I tried to let it grow on me. I've tried to give it due course. The problem I have with the game is its "Simulator" HUD. I can't do it. Its a perfect example of "Information Overload." If you have played it for years or however long its been out, maybe you can get used to it. For me, its gives me a headache. Thats literally the only reason why I dont like the game, it gives me a headache. After three or four games, I'm just done playing it. I feel like I've been in a really dark room watching a white screen for hours. Not to also mention, I feel wore out and feel burned out. My friend put it to me in the best way. It feels like fighting a battle while looking through a straw. The Graphics, Mechanics and Flow of Information are consistent and are OK. The problem is its replayability. There is a reason why these ships are manned by crews of hundreds and all that info is fed to the player for all aspects of the gameplay. Im sorry but thats just craziness and overwhelming.
It takes time I know how you feel you have to be vary aware of everything and what's around you. Do to anyone can 1 shot you it's might to be as realistic as possible where WOW is press w and not care and is based on 100% rng luck where WT is skill and knowledge and aiming skills with lots of math.
Go with tanks on wt for starting it will help you learn the game the other vehicles will make you give up if you start on them but a fair warning be ready to die fast do to 1 shot is all it takes to send you back to the hanger always look at all the tanks in nation's and learn where there weak spots are and learn your tank as well you find it better because keeping your weak points hidden and knowing your enemy's weak points on there tanks helps alot can't just aim and expect a kill you have to know how to beat there armor like shooting the gun mount on a Sherman jumbo or the having to hit the scope port in order to pen the tank it's all about information in wt the more you have the better also listen tank engines are loud and different most vets can tell what tank is coming around a just by there engine noise or there gun shot sound.
i don't doubt war thunder is fun, it's just that as of the moment they don't have a selection of ships like wow. warspite, vanguard, yamato, tirpitz, it just feels different to play as your favorite ships
That's understandable. I personally prefer to play a game that actually makes sense in terms of the association with reality, rather than a game that works like it belongs to another universe.
WT naval has a small playerbase compared to ground and air. A lot of players I talk to say it’s mostly due to how long the matches take etc but that’s what you get when you make more “realistic” pre-digital naval combat.
The thing I can’t stand about WT navel is that when you start , it’s like your just throwing rocks at other ships . The ships are so far away , aiming for certain sections of it to do damage is almost impossible and even if you do hit it , it does do little damage you are just basically clicking and in zoom for 10 minutes. I assume it’s better when you get the big bastards but that’s such a grind why bother
I've been hard on WT the past month playing the Japan tree. I've got the Kikka now for Air and I got Aoba and Agano for naval. The experience with Aoba and Furutaka has been pretty nice. The problem with earlier IJN ships is literally like 2 AA guns per side... but once you get Aoba you actually have some AA. Nothing more satisfying in the game than shooting at a completely healthy ship and hitting their magazine and detonating them. It's the most reliable way to sink anything on Naval plus the quickest. When you select a target the crew will automatically set the fuze timer on any type of AP shell, so at any range shooting at any kind of ship you can do devastating damage or just outright detonate them if you aim correctly and the RNG says yes. Not as reliable with SAP unless you're close but standard AP does very well pretty much all ranges unless it's a BB for obvious reasons. Honestly I'd recommend sticking with it even with Scharnhorst shooting at DDs Sea Lord. The aforementioned fuze setting being the reason. Aim for the Magazine. There is a crew skill that's supposed to help with the accuracy of the fuze setting. I actually even detonated a Portland with Agano SAP yesterday. Went and looked at the armor breakdown for Portland vs. Agano SAP and at the 4km range there was a small spot about halfway up from her waterline under the turret that could be penned by it and cause magazine detonation. Also shooting a Light cruiser sitting in spawn spamming me with one shot and killing them immediately is just instant satisfaction and justice.
"When you select a target the crew will automatically set the fuze timer on any type of AP shell, so at any range shooting at any kind of ship you can do devastating damage or just outright detonate them if you aim correctly and the RNG says yes." This is false. Fuze delay on AP shells is a set duration. It doesn't change.
@@magiaconatus So what does the crew skill for shell fuze accuracy do. I do find it intriguing how the same caliber gun can detonate a lightly armored DD just like it can a Heavy cruiser up close where overpenning would seemingly be more likely.
I disagree that WoWs is "standardized". I think the game looks "standardized" on surface, but like you said, it has many "behind the scene stuff" which leaves a lot of room for developer manipulation. "Overpenetration" is the most prominent example of this.
Also in wows you will only find out some bs balancing decisions once you unlocked the ship (like insane dispersion for example… or everything related to the i-56)
The grind in WT is more enjoyable then WoWS as you do not need to use the vehicle before it or grind 200k free xp. You simply find what you like and play it and the rest just comes along. I also don't like how recently most "events" in WoWS are forcing me to open my wallet to get anything out of it
War thunder in general is supposed to be a more realistic vehicle combat game, vs World of (Tanks, Warships, Warplanes, etc) The mechanics for WT are supposed to be more complex and harder to use because of the "realism" of the game
imo the main difference between the games is the exp grind and monetization. Gajin is simply worse than WG when it comes to rewarding the player or the value and need of prem currency. i enjoy warthunder game mechanics but getting to tier 7 on any tree is just a pain in the ass if you dont want to spend money. meanwhile i didnt spend anything in wows for a year or so and i still get prem time and currency out of crates or missions. i have dubs and prem time WITHOUT paying in. something that would never happen in warthunder, to me at least.
I hope so see more ships added to WT. I've never played WOW but what tempts me to try it is that they have a way better selection of ships. Like how is Bismarck not available in the German line? My hopes of ever seeing more ships added is low.
New ships are added regularly to WT, its just that they tend to drip feed them bit by bit. There is new update coming this month with new ships (no bismarck, but still). They have their resources stretched to planes and tanks, so there is a lot more vehicles coming, but only part of them are ships.
@@Rosaslavthe bismarck and submarines are already in wt mobile, and we recently had a „battle of the Atlantic“ event with submarine vs destroyer pvp. So they‘ll likely come soon
The secondary turrets break very easily cuz HE and SAP spam from pretty much any Light Cruiser, DD, or even the secondaries of other BBs will do it cuz their armor is basically non existent. Those guns tend to always be around the superstructure which is what is always getting hit. Main Batteries don't have the issues as much as long as the armor is sufficient to resist the direct pen of HE or any type of AP and the shrapnel from it. You can always repair them whenever you want (as long as you got the tool kit upgrade) but it's usually not a great idea while getting shot at since it'll drain the crew quicker.
It is a useful strategy (especially with battleships) to not repair your ship until your main guns get damaged. Foregoing repairs turns your ship into an near immortal battle barge.
I've tried both. Probably played more War Thunder (not saying much) but the thing I hate about that game is how...pc friendly it is. The menu feels more like a very convoluted desktop than the menu for a video game and the button mappings feel awkward too. I've only played a few missions in World of Warships but I can already tell it's whole system is much more streamlined and less convoluted.
as a long-time player for both, wt economy is to make you spend real money and it sucks.... jets, tanks don't play ship in wt so I don't know and the maps sucks for top tier...can kill each other from spawn
idk what it is about WoWS, but it's just better for me than WT naval. WoT is just bad compared to WT tank battles to me, and WoWP doesn't feel as good as WT air battles. But WT naval just feels like garbage to me.
War Thunder naval is awful. Half the team is chinese bots and the grind is horrendous (although less worse than helicoptors). Everything about it is designed to frustrate players into buying premium ships ( which is a double edged sword because the best premium ships are at BRs with the aforementioned chinese bots). WOWS is better in almost every metric. With the way the BR rankings are now coupled with the ability to bring in aircraft its going to be hilarious in the future when late war ships will be going up against cold war jets with guided ordnance. I suspect it'll end up like late tier ground (rush to get a few points>get into missile heli early and crap on every tank who cant do anything about it), just changed with planes and ships.
most modern ordinance would barely scratch a World War 2 BB or Heavy cruiser, most ships these days have >16 mm plating, where in WW2 you could see armor ranging in feet thick, i wanna say Iowa has between 32- 500 mm thick plating so modern anti ship missiles might leave a scorch mark and a dent
We have that problem already with tanks where WW2 tanks vs cold war making your armor useless it's painful the community has been asking for a barrier between the 2 to stop cold war tanks from entering WW2 tank battles
@@kuninagako9035 Yeah it's pretty rough when you just wanna run around your WW2 tanks but the snail is 'HERES COLD WAR HEATFS ROUNDS AND MISSLES NO FUN FOR YOU'. When people ask me if the games balanced I point out to them that WW2 tanks can fight vehicles from 2006 and WW2 planes can fight Mig21s and A-10s with all aspect missles lol, which is true in both cases.
Yeah bit you get Spee sister ship for free in WoW so that evens out plus WoW has more ships. WT slowly getting there and I understand why.
@@thecatwithatophat4069i have it in both games. It feels more satisfying in wt
At least you get an assist World of warships don't have assist ribbons so you don't get payed for helping.
Tbh both games should have a “assist counts as kill” mechanic like the battlefield series has had since bf4
The grind in Wt is soul sucking 😂
Not as much as wow and wot
Wt separates the arcade kids in wow from the actual gamers.

As Naval player since Naval CBT i can confirm..
Don't play naval unless you agree to
1.) Have the repair cost 2x much more expensive than the jet top tier cost
2.) Spaded the f out of entire ship since the RP gain on naval are quite sh*t without premium
3.)Agro by entire team cause you spawn to early
4.) CCCP bot that sometimes ddos the server
5.) Having emotional damage because your small PP can't penetrate battleship/heavy cursier belt armor
Do not forget about tones of Moffet and Helena bots in NavalRB.
It's killed my will to play big fleet in WT.
Everything aside from 3 and 5 was fixed, no?
One aspect of the War Thunder grind I like, is that you don't need to play the previous vehicle to unlock the next one, so in theory you could unlock a BB by just playing cruisers or if you absolutely hate the ship, plane or tank before the next one you can ignore it. In World of Warships the Free XP is just way too little and to convert the ship extra XP to Free XP will cost real money so it is essential to stick to the previous ship even if you hate the thing.
This is what I think WT has over WoWS by miles and makes that grind enjoyable, I don't have to be in something I don't like
I have different opinion that I like wows more because Im suffering from Warthunder module research too its took me so long to make ship playable and I dont like the captain skill that lack due to realistic > feature
My bigges problem with War Thunder naval. Is the enemy ships look like 2d carbboard cutouts.
@@georgejpg What are you smoking my dude?
@@Daniel-CMelinte What? Nothing I said was even slightly controversial.
@@georgejpg are you running it on the lowest setting or a running a potato computer. Its vary detailed and graphics are vary good on max
There are two more differencies for me:
And even if you both die early in WoWS you cannot use that ship until the battle ends, which is not the case in WT.
that have been adressed. if you die, you just start a new match with the same ship right away, except if you run out of bonnus of XP or silver
Good vid.
I love WT flight, in the earlier tiers with prop planes. It's not overly complicated to me. Naval is too much.
WOinsert game here
Is basically the arcade version of that form of battle. Domt get me wrong good in its own ways. but dayumn WT is amazing
But I only tried it because of you playing it
Unfortunately they still haven’t made the enduring confrontation mode the main mode in wt, it would be a mich better experience
Yeah, I recently started playing American bbs in wt and they really make you aware of how detailed the flooding mechanic is
has been waiting for this comparison. Thank you!
good comparison. Played both and you're spot on
I feel like comparing both games is like OW2 vs TF2
While WoWs require teamwork, less player/team, just one noob can ruin the entire game.
While WT people just don't care much about objectives and try to blow other's shit up.
Awsome. Been a war thunder player up to my b17, did not know they were doing ships, might have a look at it now, as always a very informative video
ships have been running since 2018....u are way to late
this just shows how few people play WT naval. bro unlocked a rank 3 plane and doesnt even know that ships exist
pretty sure he's joking around, guys
Gaijin don’t really promote ships like Wargaming does imo.
I see quite a few sponsored streams for WoWS even among WT youtube channels. Nothing like that for WT naval.
I'm a War Thunder Naval player who recently started trying WoWS and you said almost exactly what I think between the two c= I do find the least grindy and more fast-paced nature of WoWS to be refreshing sometimes but I still prefer WT Naval
One advice I'd give to anyone coming over from WoWS trying out WT is to learn how to aim and shoot without relying on the marker since it can help a lot in many situations not having to rely on it, there was a time where I forgot it was there so I didn't use it for a while and it helped making me better at aiming without it which is great, though of course once you're in long-ranged sniper ships you'd have to rely on it to be proficient
True
I like warthunder naval more because of the proper planes and its less arcade like
AI Gunners go BRRRRRT! believe me i tried dive bombing a few ships.....it didn't work.
Thank you
War Thunder's naval department is definitely the weakest part of the game. A lot more focus goes into Ground and Air.
Maybe even three players per ship, one captain, and a gunner for primary and secondary batteries each.
I want a game like that so bad! Multi-crew ship or tank to play in coop.
@@nikogrn1For multicrew tanks you can go Hell Let Loose or even Battlefield I think.
bruh no
@Rosaslav I´m on DCS WORLD, I would like something similar with ground vehicles or naval ships
And btw, easiest way to kill the ship in WT is by Shell Room detonation. Not sure why it wasn't mentioned in the video, even you killed Hyuga from Scharnhorst that way.
Warthunder is just more realistic where World of Warships is more arcade
13:34 one note in there: WoW does have the individual damage in the artillery, secundary armament, AA guns, torps, engine and manuvering... Engine and manuvering will be repaired after some time, but if you get hit another time in your already knockout turret or torpedoes tubes, it will be destroyed and cannot be repaired. Same for AA guns and secundary, but it´s by percentage status, similar to HP. if you get too much HE damage, fire damege or even overwhelming AP damage, that HP will drop and can knock off these guns, whitch makes less effective over time.
Even with all its faults (and it has many), I prefer WoW. Educational as always SL.
I've barely played WT due to the grind, despite me wanting to try it. I bet they've lost a lot of potential players due to this aspect of the game.
@@Joshua-fi4ji Same here. I really wanted to grind the Leopard 2A6 in WT.

Never play War thunder but I will try it one day. It would be fun with more simulation on aiming. :D
@@kuninagako9035 it is very rare to be one shot in naval
Naval has actual functional AA too. Just some advice before you start is to go into controls for naval and be familiar with your secondary and AA targeting. Then you want to go to options and disable auto aim. Just tap X to lock onto a target you want to shoot at and all you have to do is shoot around the green circle that will appearance your crew has measured the range.
WoW Destroyers feel like Coastal vessels compared to War Thunder Naval.
22:00 Yeah, Gaijin's whole monetisation scheme is to make the game so annoying that you'll spend money to ease your suffering.
As a ground and air war thunder player, I hate naval in this game. It's just bad. And Gaijin hates it too.
Tell that to the Hood.
Also I want those dolphins swimming alongside my ships in wt… and fog horns
Citadel is a term specifically for the internal, armored box around the engines and magazines. My understanding is that these are the only areas WoWs cares about for citadel calculations.
I’m on Play Station so I have WOW Legends to compare. I’m usually playing war Thunder because I like how it feels to control the ships even though aiming is frustrating at times. I’m also not a fan of the Legends in game shop. It costs a lot of real money to get anything and I will be grinding a very long time to get my in game credits back up to a good level.
The grind in WT is an absolute disaster.
Really enjoy WT in ground and air, but wows is so much better with the economy and repair costs.
Can agree to that had to stop playing my favorite tank the tiger 10.5 with the special skin I got for it. 14,500 SL is bs on it it vs cold war tanks all the time and is not even that op
Always very informative.
Can get repairs from any allied teammate that's nearby now.

The only reason I stuck through it is because I'm addicted to huge guns lol.
Its actually dumb how maneuverable battle ships are in warships. Huge heavy battle ships shouldn't be able to stop and go and turn on a swivel the way they do.
Well there is a difference in a Simulator and an arcade aspect.
In wt if u turn to hard and to fast you will roll your ship and sink haha
Eh, if you actually focus on one tree it’s likely doable in months too without any money spending
That lead indicator is so silly. Every monkey can connect shots now. I miss old naval War Thunder
This should be interesting!
For context, this is like queuing up in a tier 7 DD in WoWs and seeing tier 10s with 12 km Radar in your lobby.
i grinded almost whole US tech tree ships in WT just because it's easy to complete event tasks in naval, and let me say, even though wows is more "casual", WT is way more easier to play. let me guide you into WT naval gameplay:
1. Pick your ship and spawn
2. click "shift" (by default) and find closest target
3. wait for green and aim your guns 0.2-0.4 km closer
4. hold left button
There is no simulator part in this game except slowness of ships
Played world of warships sense beta. It feels like it has become more arcade feeling then it use to be.
Well based on this video and prior knowledge I’ll stick to wows! Thanks for the update
that's why i love war thunder.
now we need to do it again bc wows went wild with qol graphics
I like war thunder for realism and wows for the arcade aspect of some serious gameplay
@@kuninagako9035 try pressing w in wows and see if rng makes you survive for more than 30 seconds
It‘s really not bad. Or maybe they improved it recently. The crew calls out what is broken/happening and all the information is easy to read
What 3rd party app to you use to see the 3D view of internals for wows
Sounds like I wouldn’t like War Thunder too much. Might try it anyway at some point.
Most don't play naval 98.5% of the player base is in ground wars so tanks and planes that's where it's really at.
How can I figure out what kind of heal my ship has in wows
Hover over it with the mouse. It should tell you with a pop up.
@Jay Werner thanks
A super heal has 2 crosses on the consumable
All battleships get a heal, cruisers all get one at t9-10 but only a few lines do at lower tiers, and a couple lines of destroyers also get heals.
I assume it’s better when you get the big bastards but that’s such a grind why bother
great video as always :P
How that Scharnhorst moves like racing car on track?
"When you select a target the crew will automatically set the fuze timer on any type of AP shell, so at any range shooting at any kind of ship you can do devastating damage or just outright detonate them if you aim correctly and the RNG says yes."
This is false.
@@KaguyasBeat It is used solely for setting the fuze timer for when you are firing time-fuzed HE shells.
-honestly what's the point? both games are fun in there own way, neither does it better just enjoy both
I disagree that WoWs is "standardized". I think the game looks "standardized" on surface, but like you said, it has many "behind the scene stuff" which leaves a lot of room for developer manipulation. "Overpenetration" is the most prominent example of this.
Also in wows you will only find out some bs balancing decisions once you unlocked the ship (like insane dispersion for example… or everything related to the i-56)
love the warthunder vids but ships dont hva e historically accurate armor especially Haruna Kongou and Newport news that i hvae noticed
They actually do.
Ita funny cause i like WoWs way more then WT Naval but i like WT Tanks way more than WoT
So… I just started World of Warships, LEGENDS…. I’m trying to figure the game out
as a WT player, gotta say World Of Warships looks miles better! the Water looks insanely good
💀💀💀
HUD as well
I hated WT Naval
@@obinator9065 still needs work, ships honestly are boring if you dont make them arcadey and unrealistic
The grind in WT is more enjoyable then WoWS as you do not need to use the vehicle before it or grind 200k free xp. You simply find what you like and play it and the rest just comes along.
I also don't like how recently most "events" in WoWS are forcing me to open my wallet to get anything out of it
War thunder in general is supposed to be a more realistic vehicle combat game, vs World of (Tanks, Warships, Warplanes, etc) The mechanics for WT are supposed to be more complex and harder to use because of the "realism" of the game
i like them both, warthunder just takes forever to get a match
stopped playing wows when the carriers got turbo-nerfed, and will play wt naval when the french navy will get out of beta
imo the main difference between the games is the exp grind and monetization.
Do you play WOTS? Thoughts?
I noticed every shot of WT your ship always had a broken gun, is that always the case?
Even though im a warthunder player i like world of warships naval better
warthunders grind is so god awful. one of the biggest reasons i quit
as a long-time player for both, wt economy is to make you spend real money and it sucks.... jets, tanks don't play ship in wt so I don't know and the maps sucks for top tier...can kill each other from spawn
idk what it is about WoWS, but it's just better for me than WT naval.
I gave up on WOWS to much BS to deal with. I now play WT Naval and enjoy it. But the Grind is so slow.
For the Algorithm!
I really hate grinding war thunder
war thunder is realistic and wows is a arcade game
Sadly wt can balance only the battle rating or else an angry gamer will leak secret goverment documents
