Question - I'm about to install an aftermarket stereo for an 03 Chevy Malibu. I've heard there is a weird support piece that prevents the stereo from going in. Are those spacers what allows it to fit, or do I need to remove the support piece from the vehicle?
Good video, the Ebay link for the AXVI-2003 Harness Adapter says it fits Chevy Malibu excluding Classic but the description here says the parts list is for Malibu and Malibu Classic. Do these parts work for the Classic models?
If you are referring to the harness adapters needed, it really depends on your trim, but the ones we linked are the ones needed for our install, yes (not necessarily by preference, more so by requirement). If you want help with your specific install parts, send us a message on facebook.
@@ProvoBeastAudio I’m referring to the touch screen radio you all have listed in the description, and I have a 2004 Malibu classic, are the adapters you have listed go with the touch screen radio as well?
I've been trying to install an after market radio in my 2002 Malibu and have been unable to find the accessory wire in the car harness. The color code appears to be the same as what you've listed, which also does not identify an accessory wire. Am I missing something?
this car doesnt have a traditional redwire for power when key is set to accessory. How did you make yours work? like what wires from the car needs to be connected to the radio signal wire?
I bought a 2003 Malibu and the previous owner had installed a new stereo amp sub and some other stuff non of witch work not to mention I have loose wires down by the peddles and I’m curious of where to try and figure out how to fix all of this
So I don't have enough power with just it plugged into the harness I had to run and extra accessory wire to the aux/cig fuse. But it killed my battery what else can I do?
Well, depending on your year malibu, you may be required to have a smart harness as 2003 - 2005 migrated over to a canbus data system and removed the analog accessory switched power source at the radio (as it's controlled via data). We have the parts needed for your specific year linked in the description.
I’m counfused, where do they install the single din screen they show at the the beginning of the video? I’m interested in installing one in my 03 Malibu
Does any one know where the amplifier for a 2003 base model? I got speakers that need to run at 30watts RMS power and 150 watts RMA power and can’t seem to find an specs on the stock amplifier
Make sure u find your ground and power cord from ur car actually matches the harness im having the same problem rn with my 2003 i got the right harness for that like era of cars and the wires are all in different spot im pretty sure orange is power black is ground and blues are to your speaker
@@codywhite8358 hey did you ever figure out how to install it ? I’m working on my car as I type this comment, haven’t had a damn radio in over a year I’m going crazy !!
you just cut one wire from the ignition switch (think it was the yellow one), i did it to my car because it was getting really annoying and a safety risk. "anti-theft" light is permanently on forever but i prefer a car that starts up every time
Why does noone just make a list of colors of the factory wires so i can splice an adapter? Been looking all day and none are correct for 2003 malibu. Theres only one yellow wire and all places say its for memory wire and speaker wire. It cant be both. People are morons online.
Parts used linked in the description of the video!

Yes as the classic refers to this body style.
I assume all the cords go with the radio you have listed as your personal preference ?

How do you view the drivers information center info?
Is there a video on that component? I know they make a DIC relocation unit.
I have an 03 Malibu, but it has the Cassette Player (which your car didn't have) Is the AXVI-2003 harness still appropriate for my car?
Did you ever find out? I’m also wondering
my son is 17 an he has his first car 05 chev malibu an he’s trying to put in new stereo. Does he have to put certain radios in the car?
no

Well depends on what harness adapter you used. Accessory wire for aftermarket wiring is red, so you may have the wrong adapter.
@@ProvoBeastAudio It's not the harness adapter I'm having trouble with, it's the car harness itself. Thanks for the reply.

Depending on the year, you may need a smart harness which generates one for you for your new radio. See the description for the appropriate parts.

Even if it plugs in, it may not be the right harness adapter.

Any issues with the “theft” system? I’ve got a 2001 Malibu and have heard there might be issues when one replaces the factory stereo.
Nope, no issue, but the 2001 is the early years of this generation before GM moved over to their canbus system. You should be fine with the install.
