I’ve looked at tons of videos for cocoon instructions but finally found yours that gave me all the basic information I was looking for. Thanks, this is perfect!
This is AMAZING! I was looking for a way to turn a corner to corner square into a cocoon shrug and stumbled across your video!!! Cannot wait to put these tips into practice!
Your videos are brilliant. I was inspired to make Virus shawls and Virus ponchos because of your videos. Now I want to make this cocoon shrug from a virus blanket! What an inspired idea. I have only ever seen this done with a large granny square, but it looks stunning with the Virus blanket, too. I love your videos!
I’m so happy you’ve enjoyed my other videos and this one!! I simply love my cocoon. I think the virus stitch makes it so classy. Thank you for watching and commenting! Have fun making one🌸🌸🌸
I did the virus as a spring/fall poncho... I'm in love with your shell stitch shrug and I will find the detail on it (stitch) and will definitely do this. Love your work. You're inspirational:)
I love this tutorial as it has inspired me to actually make something for myself. Thank you for your wonderful videos. You have given me lots of fabulous ideas which is great because I am not able to work cos of mobility problems. I always look forward to your new videos and that is why I wanted to say a huge thank you for your lovely projects.
+Angie Johnson I've kept both of these for myself. They are really fun to put together. I'm so happy to hear you enjoy my videos! Thank you for watching and commenting!🌸🌸🌸🌸💕
hi Joanna your cocoon is lovely will definitely do one you are a great tutor keep up the great crochet patterns have used your beautiful shell blanket for charity work thanks so much
Beautifully done as always love the cilors I have /started the Virus blanket in queen sizr sooooo I have a ways to go I am loving watching it grow and grow Thank you for all you do for us
So pretty and you offer fresh ideas. We don't have to do the basic granny all the time, not that there is anything wrong with that. Where can I get scissors similar to those? They are so unique!
+Jens Right-Hook I love my new scissors! I got them on Etsy. I searched rose scissors. I'm so happy you liked my video! Thank you for watching and commenting! 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Thank you for another brilliant tutorial. I am going to make one of each for myself. Keep up the excellent work and I will look forward to the next tutorial. Xx
I love this & you have explained it to a tee! I am in the process of making mine but can't quite get it to fit right. My granny square measures 40 inches × 40 inches & I have NOT added the boarder or collar to it because I'm not sure about it. It's roomy & fits everywhere EXCEPT across my chest. I have a 48 inch chest around but the edges of the square are at the beginning of my under arms. Even if I add 4 inches of boarder or collar around it it still won't meet, is there ANYTHING you could suggest because it's past long enough in the back? Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorials, they're great!
You can add more rounds to the edging than me. Even mine you have to really pull it round to get it to close. It’s just a loose comfortable wearable. I’m happy you liked this tutorial! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Absolutely Beautiful. This was so helpful and informative. I love the edging on the Virus Shrug. Also, can you share your yarn choices for these items? Thanks
+debra s I'm so happy to hear you liked my video!! The yarn I used was all red heart super saver except for the dark red witch was red heart with love in very berry. Then it was Heather gray Warm brown and Buff. Thank you for watching and commenting
+Margaret Seabrook yes I did. But you don't have to. I wanted it to work up fast. A smaller hook will make smaller shells so you'll have to go more rows.
Hi! Thanks for sharing this beautiful and easy project. Quick question if I want to make this for a child should the opening for the arms measure 7 inches as well? Thanks for the reply and greetings from Mexico
@jonnamartinez what yarn would recommend to use for the virus poncho and shrug . They no longer have unforgettable yarn. I do have caron soft yarn and also what number weigh 4 yarn would u recommend using if using weight 4
I would recommend any yarn you like working with best for a shrug like this. Worsted weight yarn is one of my personal favorite weights and currently I would love lion brand yarn over others. Thank you for watching and commenting! Enjoy working up this shrug!
+nelissa ali-c I used most of two of the jumbo super savers and an 8.mm hook for one and an N 9.00mm hook for the other. That includes the straight edges and making it into a cocoon. Thank you for watching and commenting !
So I'm making this using the Virus pattern and have finished my square but how do I get a nice square/straight edge on it and not all the waves so I can complete it?
You said you had your scissors where you wanted to open up your work! I thought you were going to cut it! Oh no, don’t cut that pretty granny square (I thought)!! Lol!!
Thank ypu I love to make granny squares and I adore the granny square shrug so I'm going to make me a really pretty colorful granny square that is 13 Rounds and colorful colors and put those together and then make the shrug thanks so much

Love your shrug video. Im going to do the shell one but I'm just wondering if you used the N hook to crochet the whole shrug
+Margaret Seabrook yes I did. But you don't have to. I wanted it to work up fast. A smaller hook will make smaller shells so you'll have to go more rows.
I love this one I'm going to try it for this winter Thank you :)

@jonnamartinez what yarn would recommend to use for the virus poncho and shrug . They no longer have unforgettable yarn. I do have caron soft yarn and also what number weigh 4 yarn would u recommend using if using weight 4

+Katia Bijoux thank you for watching and commenting! Ciao! ❤🌸🌸🌸🌸
how many skeins of worsted weight yarn and what hook did you use for the base square and for the edging?
+nelissa ali-c I used most of two of the jumbo super savers and an 8.mm hook for one and an N 9.00mm hook for the other.
That includes the straight edges and making it into a cocoon.
Thank you for watching and commenting !
So do you just make the beautiful shells blanket until its as big as you need ending with the straight edge round?
