    Brilliant! Had an e20 error on boiler, so ordered a thermistor for £3.99 and that's the boiler fixed!! What a superstar-thank you for the video 😀

    Just watched your videos. I had the same problem. Bought the motor for £35 Yippee! I have heating back.
    Well done mate! My spring was rusted solid. When I opened the motor though it sprung apart sending bits everywhere so if you try this be VERY careful opening the motor!
    I had no error messages.
    2 Years ago I replaced the 3 way valve assembly by watching similar videos! I have saved about £400!
    To the 'knockers' - 'Knickers! You never learn anything if you don't try.

    II I had a hat on I'd take it off, well done!!!!
    You have systematically worked your way through a fault diagnosis and repair.Ii know some so called engineers who may not have completed that job as competently. Why pay for someone who in my experience doesn't always replace the correct part or mis-diagnosis the fault and replaces the incorrect part. This has been hugely helpful and interesting and informative video. I may have missed this on the video, but was there a fault code displayed at the start of the problem.

    heres the thing, if that was a wet pocket sensor, that water would of come out at a pressure of about 1.5 bar, not only that, it was at 80 deg temp you could of ended up with serious burns. you would have also flooded the boiler probably damaging the pcb and other electrical components, you got away with it, but you were lucky. I would of checked the divertor motor first to make sure it was moving to the heating position. the water is not getting away from the boiler, check the heating flow pipe to see if it's getting hot.

      I've got mine from eBay from £4 each , you need to turn the water off only if u change the BAXI-DUE-TEC-24HE-28HE-33HE-40HE-TEMPERATURE-SENSOR-THERMISTER-5114725, not for the NTC one but u'll have to replace bought any way

    Good video. I have the same boiler and currently have hot water but no heating. Putting it in service mode (to change high/low flame) has got my heating working again however and whilst in service mode it seems fine but the boiler cycles on and of with the flame. Otherwise when you call for heating from the wireless stat the actuator valve opens but the boiler doesn’t respond. No led light on heating. No pump running. Nothing. But when in service mode it’s all working fine and rads warm up. Any idea what’s up with it? Cheers

    The part I’m looking for is the left side water tap, has a black tap switch attached to it. The whole of that part is a bit leaky, so need to replace it. Any advised will be great. Thanks in advance.

  • @James-nk4sj

    I think it was dry because the boiler was not on hotwater mode - mine was not dry - and one of the taps was still on also... its difficult to get the thermister back in with it pissing out water... The new one came with a washer but the old one did not. I think the washer stops it fitting properly so it was extra difficult to figure that out.

  • @dogrob1973
    @dogrob1973 8 лет назад +3

    Mate, the heats not getting away from the boiler fast enough. It's not temp sensors, check the pump and quality of water in the heating system (probably black). You have an obstruction in flow, check flow and return valves are fully open and check pipes are getting hot underneath. It's certainly nothing to do with thermostat. Also check the valves on your magnaclean are open if you have recently serviced it.

The heating was working fine last night, ive also tried to reset. Any help appreciated, cheers

    Good on you Mark for having a go. I don't get why there is all the negativity. He's not touching anything gas related and is well within his right to do what he is doing. If only more people had a go at solving problems like this people would actually learn about things and be more knowledgable in the future, rather than the throw away society we live in. Its good that you have followed a logical path and ended up finding the cause of the fault learning along the way. It's this method that makes people learn and next time you will be quids in. Well done.

      Hi Andrew you stated he isnt touching anything gas related and is within his right that is in fact very wrong. Just for everyone knowledge he has removed the cover to the boiler that cover has a seal around it this can allow products of combustion into the room if not fitted correctly therefore you do need to be gas safe to undertake the work this gentleman has done.

    Not sure if anyone can help me with the issues I am having with my Potterton Promax Combi 24-28-33, but I cannot find help anywhere.
    Basically on 05/02/2020 the batteries on the wall timer ran out and I couldn't get new ones until the next day. In the morning I noticed the hall radiator was warm and after looking into this it seems the boiler will go into an emergency mode and create heat to the radiators every few minutes (actually a very cool feature).
    Anyway I bought new batteries yesterday but for the life of me I cannot get the wireless wall timer unit to sync with the actual boiler. I have tried holding the button on the boiler which gives 2 red flashes and when you let go the red light stays constant for a couple of minutes. I am assuming this is the heater trying to sync with the wireless wall timer? But it just won't connect to it. I even pressed the reset button on the wall timer but still it gives a flashing red light every 15 seconds or so.
    The landlord has an engineer coming 10/02/2020, but I'd really like to have this sorted sooner if any of you guys have come across this.

    Its funny how there's all these heating engineers (experts) on here telling you don't touch the boiler, and coming up with all sorts of scenarios that don't solve the problem. And these are the very people who want £65 call out and £65 per hour to solve a problem that they don't even understand. Oh and I forgot, plus VAT plus VAT plus VAT and on top of that plus VAT. Do what you want with your own boiler but don't touch the Gas. When all else fails, employ a Doctor, Lawyer or Airline Pilot to fix it, Their hourly rate is much less.

      Sometimes you have to change various parts! Its part of the fault finding process.
      I have Luke warm water but could be caused by 3 or more components.

    • @rockreel2466
      @rockreel2466 Год назад

      @Dave J luke warm water is more than likely caused due to lack of servicing. What is the Net Kw output of your boiler and what reading did you get (m³/hour) at max in service mode. Did you get the correct -ve fp as per MI's?

    You haven't got a bloody clue what you are doing and changing thermistors for nothing, get a gas engineer and you can see clearly the boiler is over heating on central heating demand as the temperature is rising then the overheat thermostat activates and shuts off the boiler so the fault is something else which i am not going to tell you about it, it is only for Gas Safe Registered Engineers.
    you are not competent to touch this gas boiler,

      so i decided to have a go myself,as i have a young child with us and slowly dying of hypothermia something had to be done sorry if this upsets you,and i am also re plumbing my son's

      You didn't upset me, but I wouldn't put a video on RUclips of something I didn't know anything about, just in case anybody tried to copy and caused damage to themselves or the appliance.
      Sorry to here that you got shafted by plumbers (they must have been clueless) as by looking at your video if you were getting Hw but no heating then it would have been a diverter valve issue, hope you got it sorted eventually

    • @MrMeltedwellies
      @MrMeltedwellies  8 лет назад

      Hi Colin i do have a diverter valve ready to fit sorry to say but i will be filming it lol but i will put a disclaimer telling people not to try this at home
      cheers
      mark

    • @colinarmour7943
      @colinarmour7943 8 лет назад +1

      +Mark Davies it's fine to change a diverter valve on your model as it doesn't disturb any gas fitting on your boiler, but when you fitted sensors you would have had to take the combustion chamber cover off to gain access. This should only be done by a competent person. (gas safe engineer) as if the case wasn't refitted correctly or a seal was damaged it could effect combustion and be dangerous.
      Whenever a gas safe engineer does work that effects combustion he must check appliance with a combustion analyser to make sure everything is OK

      @andrewnewton9891 3 года назад +1

      You are working on a gas appliance. The law says that you must be gas Safe registered even to work on your own appliance. You are in effect encouraging others to do the same. You should ask your self what is the reason of being gas Safe registered ( and no it's not to rip off the public) it's to ensure that people are competent to work on gas appliance so as to ensure safe working practices and not leave the appliance in a dangerous state. This can only be ensured through proper training and education. Which is assessed and recognised by the health and safety executive. Then one can be gas Safe registered ensuring that the criteria for safe working is met.
