Wow! This is a great video! It really hits the important stuff. Might add a ref to where to put pitch effects in the chain. Thank you for a great vid! 🔥❤️👍🏻
This video is again a masterpiece :D thanks mate. Is this yourself speaking in it or is there a team behind sage audio? Btw could you consider making more videos about vocals and especially how to optimize the recording process? Would be great.
Both are great but just different. In my experience the LA2A is easier to use and is warmer / rounder. The 1176 is more flexible with adjustable attack and release as well as ratio settings. You can set the 1176 to catch transient peaks and then follow it up with an LA2A to smooth it out for the best of both works. You can also put the LA2A first. There is no right or wrong, just different sounds. Have fun!
In my experience 76 is more aggressive “faster” great for spoken word, rap music stuff like that and opto comps are usually more gentle and great for more legato vocal Performances. Combining the 2 like someone mentioned below is a great idea that I’m going to try myself.
Another excellent video. I'm not sure I quite understood the last section regarding clip gain. Were you using a vst to control clip gain or were you using automation. It appears to me its automation but I ran through that section twice and wasn't sure I was quite getting it. I was also interested in when you were adding "additive eq" I didn't really see that used here, although I thought I saw another eq used after the De-Esser. Thank you as always.
@Joe Malinovsky; He said to use clip gain to control level instead of volume automation because the clip gain happens before your processing while volume automation is after your processing. Clip gain is found on the top left side in Logic Pro X under Region. In other to clip gain you have to cut the parts that are too loud that you want to clip gain and just drag the volume down under gain in Region section.
Again, super video, super tips, but automation, e. g. volume automation, is a real issue for me, because you can‘t change the volume fader afterwards in relation to the automated areas anymore. Or am I wrong? I can‘t find that out.
Automation can be frustrating, since you can't affect the faders without altering automation. I typically automate effects more often than volume for this reason. SageAudio.com

Can u make a video bout how to mix on a beat downloaded from youtube? Most of em are poorly mixed and limited like crazy.. makes it super hard to mix vocals properly on beats from youtube
Record vocals to peak around negative 1 or 2 dB ??? Can't tell you how wrong this is...so many reasons. Not knocking the video just don't want people to get the wrong info on this fella.

Great video! So whats a better compressor for vocals? 1176 or LA2A in your professional opinion

@@MannyXO thanks for the feedback brother!!!
Did I get this right? The reverb set to affect mids only?, the one being sent to the vocal chain?
You did! I used the internal EQ in the plugin to isolate the reverb on the mids! Thanks for watching and being a member!

Again, super video, super tips, but automation, e. g. volume automation, is a real issue for me, because you can‘t change the volume fader afterwards in relation to the automated areas anymore. Or am I wrong? I can‘t find that out.
Automate a simple gain plugin instead of a fader. Or. use Reaper, there is tream/read mode on faders there.
Automation can be frustrating, since you can't affect the faders without altering automation. I typically automate effects more often than volume for this reason.
