Yoga for Morning Stiffness (19-Mins) Stretch Your Way Out When You're Feeling Stiff or Sore

- Stiff in the morning? This class is a yoga sequence for morning stiffness! If you woke up and your body muscles are feeling stiff and little sore, this 19 minute class is the perfect to let that morning stiffness go. After doing this yoga for morning stiffness routine, you can follow it up with one of my meditations or you can come back into a down dog and start one of my other yoga classes. Thank you so much for joining me in this class! I hope you're feeling a little less sore and a little easeful in your body stiffness. Remember, moving is better than not moving when you are feeling sore of stiff.

I've been doing a variety of exercises the last few years, and this video is one that I keep coming back to. Today I exercised to this one again, and for the first time I noticed that my quads are much less tight than the first several times I used this video. I was actually surprised by the difference, as I could feel the remaining tension in my quads melting away. Thank you Brett!
I'm a middle aged wood floor tech. Metal guitarist. My wife discovered you a bit over a year ago. I've been going through this one before my work day for a couple weeks now. It's been good. Getting better as I get these forms down. Helps build discipline to start a day like this too. Thank you Brett. Namaste.
"Moving is always better than not moving when you're feeling sore." I think you may have just made me a believer in that! A couple days ago I pulled a muscle and so I didn't do yoga yesterday. But today I figured this practice would be easy enough on my body. After going through this one, it feels like it's actually less painful than before and I'm really surprised by that. Anyway, thank you for this Brett :)

Hadn't been able to do the quad stretches for ages due to a sore shoulder, but managed them today and felt good. Namaste 😊
I'm always stiff in the knee and hip and shoulder joints, due to arthritis...this was a good start to getting deeper into poses.

Came back to this one today I worked for about 12 hours yesterday sitting and felt so stiff this morning. This was great I feel so much better now and ready for another long day of work. Sore or not (I wasn't sore/stiff today), a wonderful practice for when wanting something gentler, slower and yet getting a yummy whole body stretch.
I really enjoyed it as a first-thing in the morning today!! And I'm sure it would feel lovely when sore/stiff after doing one of your Sculpt classes :)

I love and appreciate how well you explain every detail to the poses and do so very simply and clearly! I've tried to use many videos and I often struggled with that especially because when you're trying to get into the poses and look at your screen it's not the most conducive to the movements now is it?! You lost me at the quad stretch lying down but instead of getting frustrated and flustered I just did my own thing on the mat until you finished that section. Yoga must be seeping into my brain as I thought your tone was soothing even if that particular pose wasn't. Namaste.

Do you have any intermediate classes that are sort of reset classes? Where you need to flow but also reconnect and stretch? I find the reconnect classes are usually beginner, which is fine but I also find it beneficial to get into the more challenging poses in a more mindful way.

Yes, I did feel better at the end, thanks! Are your feet square enough that your big and second toes and your pinky toes are on the ground, or do you need to angle your foot to stretch all five toes?
As usual great video. All was well but I cannot even begin to do to quad stretch...feels like I ripping them just trying to get them to the floor. I gave up when they started cramping. Never knew I had quad issues! Something to work on if possible. Cheers:)

I am unable to sit cross legged due to hip and pelvis issues. What other positions can I do.
You can try sitting up on a prop, like a cushion or bolster. A low stool could work too, and sitting on a chair is always an option. Hope that helps!!
I dont understand these morning stiffness videos that start with a long time in one pose. I'm stiff, I want to do some gentle movement to get warm and looser. And straight into down dog after child's is a lot for a stiff person!
Yin style yoga holds poses for a long time and is best done with cold muscles (so it is great for a morning practice). It is so good for the fascia and helps increase flexibility. Hope that helps answer your question!
