My favorite RUclips painter. You have actually helped me become a better painter in such a short time. Vids are quality, easy to watch, and not over complicated. Thanks coach.
Hi again PC... after watching your video, I've got 3 questions: 1- What type and brand of brush (sable) are you using? Which one do you recommend? Natural or synthetic hair, W&N, raphaele, or? Which would be your all around workhorse (natural hair / brand xxx / size 0 for example)? 2- Is it possible to achieve such results with and ordinary synthetic brush? 3-What is your estimated time for painting a miniature like those ones of this video?
1. I use Rosemary and Co Series 33 and use a Size 1 for almost everything. I use a 00 from the 323 range for detail. I think natural hair brushes work best. 2. I don't know - close probably. I am about to test the Rosemary and Co Red Dot synthetics 👍🏻. The key to a good brush is that it holds a good tip 3. I batch painted so not including drying times, i think you can do a squad of 5 in 4-5 hours
I don't know if you'll see this now that the video isn't new out but... do you think the final result would be dramatically different if I used straight wraithbone as my primer and didn't do the zenithal with zandri dust? Just wondering if I can avoid buying a zandri mostly 😂
The finish will be a bit brighter amd will have less depth in the shadows. That said - there are plenty of spares so why not prime some up and give it a go! See if you like the result :)
Hello, when you do sub assembly paintings, how long do you leave the paints to dry before applying glue to the parts? secondly, what sort of glue do you use when gluing the parts and not melt the paint off the mini? and how much of the glue do you apply to make them sturdy?
It's really cool to see such an amazing result! So glad I just discovered your channel! But for a newbie in the hobby like me, it is fairly discouraging to need more than 30 paints for one mini
Thanks! I get that - my advice would be to get hold of a core of colours and practice mixing to get highlights and shadows - will improve your colour knowledge as you build your collection. I use a wide range as it gives better consistency to results across a whole army 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoachThanks a lot for your advice ! The result and methodology you share are awesome! I just have to build up my paint collection little by little and continue to learn watching your videos :) Cheers!
@TheyPaintCoach What kind of brush did you use for your "armorwash"? I normaly use a glazebrush.... But it ist often a little bit to much. That's why i'm curious how you manage to control the amount of paint so well.
Definitely going to try some of the sword stuff on my Primaris champion. BTW, have you considered doing a tutorial for the imperial Assassins? I just grabbed all four and would greatly appreciate your expertise
Great job, definitely inspired me to get on with my Deathwing force! How do you find the Sir Coats Silver? The golds from the range are pretty good but still to try out the silvers
Do you have any tips on a frigle airbrush layer, i was airbrushing the zandri dusk and waithbrone as i dont have the spray. However just handling it the pait is starting to chip and rub off
Hmm no idea why it would just rub off 🤔 what primer are you using? You could also try a varnish over the initial layers - gloss to protect and then finally matt or satin when you are happy with the paint job. Just don't use matt before the armour shading step 👍🏻
Fantastic work. When you say spray wraithbone at 45%, do you mean from an airbrush? Maybe a stupid question but not experienced with non-brush painting.
I’m not a great painter and don’t own all the paints you do, would basing the armor in ushabti bone work for doing the armor, or would another paint be better for doing the armor with?
The Terminators are looking so great but it feels so overwhelming for me as a bad painter. If I am able to block in all the base colors with contrast I am already happy. I’m not able to get those fine strokes. Even with fine brushes highlighting makes a mess so I skip the step.
I tried this method on some terminators - I'm having some issues with getting the bony matter + speedpaint medium mix on the model without ending up with coffeestaining, especially on the larger panels. Since it's my first time using speedpaint I'm sure it's a user error. Does anyone have any tips on using them?
The coffee staining usually comes when you put too much paint on - i find if I touch the brush against a paper towel, it takes most of the moisture out so that when I get to the miniature, I have more control. Also try to work on one area at a time and move the brush towards the area you want to be darkest
Not sure I understand your meaning? I spray them from above once the zandri dust is dry - and enough so that the wraithbone on top is opaque but gives a nice transition in the receses

Awesome!
This is one of the best tutorials you’ve ever done, wow. I’m blown away by how awesome this is!
Thank you!
One of the best tutorials I’ve seen. Your videos are so intuitive and easy to follow. Thanks Lloyd!
Thanks Grant! I appreciate that!
Awesome tutorial!
Thanks
This is amazing, just picked up Warhammer and dark angels. With your tutorials my army is gonna be pretty neat 🙏👍
Awesome! Enjoy!
Been following you for a couple years. This is one of my favorite tutorials you've done so far. Not as big a fan of the ad, but I get it. Keep it up!
Thanks Johannes
My box is arriving tomorrow ! Cannot wait to get started with this guide by my side !!!!!!!!
Awesome - look forward to seeing what you do

Amazing tutorial. I can't wait to use it for my box when it arrives! If you are doing the whole box we NEED to see the whole lot when they are done!
I am! Will post photos on socials!
Holy Hannah, those primary colors fricken POP off the model. Absolutely lovely.
Cheers!

Gorgeous results!

Been waiting for this and damn they look amazing. Will you be doing a video on the companions once they are available too ?
Thanks! You know I will 😁
I've been looking forward to this tutorial, love it! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I scrape the paint away on the connection parts and use normal plastic glue 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoach huh, so its that easy eh? I'll have a go at it and thank you for the quick response! subbing to your channel
No problem - and thank you!
Best tutorial ever!
Cheers!
Looks amazing, I'm definitely going to follow this guide!
Thanks
How many spray coats of wraithbone did you do over the Zandri dust? I've done 2, and I think that may have been too much
I wouldn't say I did coats in the traditional sense of covering the whole mini - it was short bursts from above and about 45 degrees
incredible painting!
Thanks!
Just wow! Great tutorial, thanks and for the video! Keep up the great work!
Cheers!
awesome vid, what is your ration for the mixing medium and the bony matter?
Either 1:1 or 2:1 medium to paint. Experiment on a spare part to see what works best for you

Just a normal size 1 brush - I dab it on a paper towel before I go to the model though so this takes off any excess
Thank you very much😊
I 'll try IT out
always love your painting tutorials, even if I do miss the music
Cheers!
I've been waiting for this.
Enjoy!
A pleasure to watch as always 🤘🔥 great work!
Cheers mate!
Been looking forward to this one! Stunning scheme, and I'll be rewatching once mine arrive
Thanks!

BTW, have you considered doing a tutorial for the imperial Assassins?
I just grabbed all four and would greatly appreciate your expertise
I haven't got them - although I have done one on the Warhammer+ assassin that you can adapt
Question what’s the best paint/colour to use for deathwing armour (I only have citadel paints)
What bone colours do you have?
Morghast bone, wraith bone, ushabti bone and zandri dust
You could try ushabti bone over a light base coat
Is the spraying to create the original colours done with an airbrush or the rattle cans?
Rattle cans on these - can absolutely use an airbrush though
@@ThePaintingCoach oh that’s good! That’s what I’ve been trying but mine doesn’t look as clean as yours 😂
I go for very light coats of the wraithbone over the top if that helps
@@ThePaintingCoach multiple coats over the top?
Yes. The first coat barely registers so you build it up which helps with the transitions
Good to hear a strong Welsh accent!
Hey PC, you are the best man!
Please paint infinity models again, we need it...
Again, your the best OF THE BEST.
I don't think I have any 🤔
@@ThePaintingCoach You are right... but you should 😂!!!
🤣
Yes please
Great video! Would the recipe for the bone color transfer over to vehicles with their larger flat surfaces?
Thanks! Yes - you may need to thin the shade a bit more though andnadd a second layer to add definition
Stunning
Thanks!
Mate, these look cracking
Thanks!

No stupid questions :)
I used it from a spray can 👍🏻
Relly like the shade mix you made for the armor. What did you use for the flames?
That's all contrast paint - check the description as there is a link to a vid that shows it
What brushes do you use? Cheers
I’m not a great painter and don’t own all the paints you do, would basing the armor in ushabti bone work for doing the armor, or would another paint be better for doing the armor with?
It would work but you would come out with a much warmer colour armour

I only have citadel paints
Please does anyone know when these guys are being released?
Big box this weekend - separate kits usually follow a few weeks later
Oh praise the emperor thank you I've been panicking thinking they've been bought out . And the inner circle? Wil be some time down the line ????
Yeah usually a few weeks later :)
Thankyou coach . I'll be re watching this video when I get them 👍👍👍👍👍 awesome

Excellent video. I agree, no need for the silver on gold, makes it too bright
Thanks!
I got my *[I redacted]* today so works for me.
Nice and early! Don't tell the inquisition!
@@ThePaintingCoach A good son of the lion can keep a secret;-p
Just started out with my first army, this feels impossible 😂
Feels like I need over 30 different paints for one model 😅
Start with the base colours and practice your painting - you can always go back and add more detail later on!
Nize.. I think I go this way.
How long do you spray them with wraithbone?
Not sure I understand your meaning? I spray them from above once the zandri dust is dry - and enough so that the wraithbone on top is opaque but gives a nice transition in the receses
Gave a friend a christmas gift of terminators, and now he quit. Feels as if l threw out my money.
See if you can get em from him
Ask for them back.
Damn! What a shitty friend he is!
Talk them into a quick game, let them have an easy win. They'll catch the bug again.
Most painters will find this method way too difficult.
Why?😂
