nice work, man I'd personally love to see the old style square-shaped plus sign-ish storm shield, but I don't ding you for still using the modern tower-shield-ish storm shields.
Same really appreciate that it more than makes up for the blurred out picture in the thumbnail it’s frustrating when the end result is hidden till the end of the video because it may or may not be relevant for me but I watched the whole thing specifically because you showed the end product at the beginning
Usually I really like (and prefer) my chaplains to have the “ribs” on their torso armor, to match the skull helmet But you surpassed that. Take my absolutely meaningless award for “best Terminator Chaplain conversion” Now time to go hunt down a spare Leviathan terminator captain…
While I disapprove of Chaplains not holding their signature weapon, what you did with the scythe was great and has grown on me, great job! This video has given me ideas for not only customizing my own terminator characters, but the rest of my minis. I’ve found kitbashing to be scary but your use of spare bits should how “useless” bits to be worthwhile. Hope to see more beautiful minis!
Love the idea, and paintjob. I took the idea and made a chaplain for my custom successor chapter, although i kept the chaplain chest for mine. thanks for posting this video.
That’s awesome I bought the starter set last year when I got into the hobby and have had one of these captains half painted on my desk for the last month the only thing stopping me from finishing it is the base I might cover up the dead tyranid with miliput to make it better fit the theme for the rest of my army but you’ve made me want to pick up another one off eBay and play around with converting it
I love your conversion. I just also happen to think this is one of the models GW actually really nailed in it's basic form. They're very obsessed with "dynamic" poses these days, often to the detriment of the model IMO. On that topic a little goes a long way I suppose is how I'd frame it. I've been a pretty big fan of almost all the new models that don't have jump packs though.
The Scythes of the Emperor conversions you do helped inspire me to make my own chapter that has scythe-wielding characters. I'm just unsure how to make them work with the chapter master, captains, and head chaplain though... A lot of them are posed for swords and guns. Also unsure of what to do with the left over bits from the Death Guard scythes pack.
"... I know it is a little bit on the nose for Scythes of the Emperor..." I don't think one needs to worry about being too on the nose when doing 40k 😄😄😄👍
@@phoenixminiatureart4193 Well, I meant that you could convert _another_ Necron model into Trazyn. The current one's finecast, and much too old as you've already said. I figure a man of your talent might make a great version (considering there's literally NO alternatives).
Great conversion! That paintjob looks awesome :D Also, sorry if this is an annoying question that's been asked and answered before, but what is the wire thing on your painting handle?
I found it just easier to be honest. It was easier to cut it at the chest imo. The belt wouldn't have added enough for me to worry about thebwxtra work for a tabletop model.
... and WOW! That BLACK ARMOUR looks Amazing. How it was painted? Will there be a painting video for this Chaplain? P.S. I've foundan answer in "Kitbashing a Salamanders Captain Video". I'll consider being a patron in the future. Kind Regards.
If you only have like a handful of scythes and you want a bunch of them So you don't have to keep on spending a few bucks on a set every time Make a 2 part mold of all of your favorite weapons out of silicone So this way you can just pour into a little hole that has been Placed near the weapon so you only have to pour resin into one area Also making sure you have a air vent on the other side And also maybe using some toothpicks and BBQ skewers to create channels for the resin To flow freely throughout the area you also have less of a chance of creating air bubbles By doing that and plus toothpicks and wooden BBQ skewers aren't Expensive or super big So they won't take up much space and you can just press them into the Play-dogh if anything When you're forming the first half of the mold I mean you can always just do one single mode a little one Or you can do a bigger one that has like 5 or 6 weapons or On them or even body parts like heads arms torso Legs backpacks I mean as long as you don't recel parts No one can really say a thing about it to you 30 bucks on a bottle of resin Have a few molds already made from silicone Cast most of the parts that you will Use And you can have your army a lot quicker and cheaper And that way they are official models not 3D prints And as long as they are properly painted An properly cleaned up from any flash AKA mode lines Other than their weight most GW Tournaments won't be able to say they aren't real And they're not proxies they're just your copies, I plan on doing this for some gundam models that I have And in the future for When I plan on doing my Dorn heresy loyalist iron warriors or Mortifactors Because I don't want to have to carve every single bone ornament 50 times Like the jawbones that Sit around the collar of the Regular Marines Neck Or have to modify a chaplain mask for Almost every single member of the Army that isn't A Scout
its a little bit on the nose i know............buddy it is space marines if they were ever subtle about anything they would not be space marines looks absolutely amazing
Badly posed and a lackluster paintjob is how I would describe the new terminator chaplain model, your version is much nicer though I do miss the Crozius.
Thanks very much, I do agree about the Sythe. I wish I had just saved it for a generic captain. If I could find one of the old double winged Crozius, I would put that on. I'm not a fan of the current one.
I like the painting and in general the model. But not the scythe. A Chaplain is a priest, not an overwatch or fortnite chararacter... I don't the scythe looks like an ancient and sacred relic they keep in their armory. I could agree on a thunderhammerpickle or something like that.
Really don't like the helmet on this terminator chaplain lol. They really designed it derpy asf lol. Cool conversion though, I learned a few tricks anyway, cheers.
Not a big fan of destroying models for conversions. Also, a Chaplain with no Crozius is no Chaplain at all. It isn't just a weapon, it's a badge of office. All in all, I think you could have achieved very similar results with a few more scrolls, small "shoulder plaques" (those small "shields"), tabard, purity seals, personal heraldry. You can find tons of them in old Captain, HQ Squads and Veterans sprues.
That's fair, I don't agree, clearly though😄 As for the Crozius, in hindsight, I do agree. I am gonna try and find one of the older ones with only the 2 wings to put on. I was just trying to hamstring the sythe in, and I regret it now. I should have saved it for a captain or something.
I will say, there is an in canon acknowledgement of chaplains who don't use the crozius- Astorath the Grim is high chaplain of the blood angels and he uses an axe!
@@yusufsteel2794 fair enough, but I think it's more like the only exception and a failed character. I'm pretty sure he won't survive the transition to Primaris, of you know what I mean.
I get the sentiment but clickbait implies some sort of deception, like show one thing or imply something crazy then never deliver it. I feel like thumbnails like this one are a lot closer to a visual version of a literary hook

Thanks for the kind words

a Scythes of the Emperor Chaplain rocking a Power Scythe feels so good. "why should I just use a Mace when the Scythe is in my name"
Enjoyed your hosting and the video so I've subbed. Nice work
The new pose, the scythe and beautiful paint job make this model look so bad ass
Thanks so much mate, I am realy pleased with him!

I would describe the initial chaplain model as very static. Your conversion is a great upgrade
Awesome work Liam! great tip about warming up the resin!
Cheers bro!
very nice Conversion - and i love the Commentary as well - keep on pushing Brother !
Cheer mate, that means a lot
The final result looks awesome!

Awesome to hear!
this inspired me to convert leviathan terminators into brotherhood chaplains , thanks!
Nice! would love to see it!
Great tips from a great artist 🙌
thanks man!
Looks way more badass
Just finished my terminator chaplain the other day!
Im serious this is a real piece of art. 40 000 times better than the original one
Thanks so much!
Greenstuff and superglue is a great tip, thanks!
Awesome job, my man. Love it! 👍🏻
Thank you
Nice! I love this model but I thought it could have down with some editions, you definitely delivered
I felt the same, thanks very much
Saw this on pinterest! So glad theres a video on it!!! You are a legend! I shall be cloning this conversion but maybe a printed crozius ❤
Would love to see it mate

Could you make a vid on a step-by-step conversion of Trazyn the Infinite?
I can have a look. Other then the age, what do you not like about the current model?

Ok so you convert 40k minis and make videos about them? Done, I'm subbed!
Well, I try.
Kitbashing isn't exactly strongest point 😄
Do you have a painting tutorial for this one? I really like the paint job.
Hey mate, I do, yes, it's in the members are though I'm afraid
Great conversion! That paintjob looks awesome :D
Also, sorry if this is an annoying question that's been asked and answered before, but what is the wire thing on your painting handle?
It's all good. it's a Rathcore paint handle. I'm really clumsy when painting, so it stops me putting my hands all over it 😄
Man that miniature is great I just wish the aos blood nights where easy to convert.
What would you want them converted in to? The models are already quite nice.
@@phoenixminiatureart4193 definitely some riding black drakes

What black was used? Looks great!

So what would be the reason for the Chaplain not to be carrying his Crozius Arcanum? The badge of office of Chaplains. Just curious.

Apologies, it should now be fixed. Thanks for letting me know!!

the original looked so derpy. This looks like an actual terminator
Think this conversion would be easier to do when the Multi Part Terminator captain gets released.
I had thought similar. The Leviathan one is so easy to get for a few quid, though, so I just went with it.
