    Aimee, I am a retired PGA instructor (Socal southen section). I have to say this is the best video I could find on RUclips for fixing a beginners slice. Quick and simple and super effective! Sharing this with my neighbors who always ask me to help them at the range. Bravo.

    I think I fixed my hook by doing something similar. Previously I was hitting my driver with the ball in the center of my stance, even though I knew it was wrong to do so. I also abbreviated my follow through to avoid the hook. Towards the end of 2021 I moved the ball closer to the proper position but I set up with the club 5 inches or so behind the ball. This is allowing me to drive through the ball better and hit it straight most of the time. Does this make sense?

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  2 года назад +1

      Hi! Thanks for sharing. If you put the ball forward in your stance, you tend to catch the ball with a closed club face. So, you probably did the right thing by putting it back in the stands to avoid that. And I’m glad to hear that you’ve moved away from that. Because keeping the incorrect ball position for too long can promote other faults in the swing.
      It sounds like you are starting the club head in the middle of the stance rather than by the ball, is to make sure to bottom out the club head before the ball. So you can catch the ball in an up blow, ascending angle. It’s a good idea but eventually I would love to see you address the club head next to the ball and put the same swing on! Thanks 😊

    Aimee I have a hard time staying behind the ball, I sway ahead of the ball in the down swing. Can you help me?

  • @sscully67
    @sscully67 2 года назад +1

    Amy, great lesson! I have a question about releasing the toe to square face- at what point in the downswing do you start that? And what are some things (example: grip, loose wrists, rolling butt of club) that can help with it? My issue is timing and the release happens after impact , so then it’s too late. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @TML34
      @TML34 2 года назад +2

      If you roll the club face open on the takeaway, you’re going to be incredibly inconsistent with your ball striking. There’s no need to “square the face” at impact if you improve the takeaway.

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  2 года назад +2

      Hi! Thank you! If you are releasing too late, you might want to exaggerate and start releasing way before the impact. It’s OK to exaggerate as long as when the release gets better you just have to stop the exaggeration. With my CoreDex theory I focus on the trail index finger, that’s supporting the club head, to release the toe and extend the whole trail arm from impact to post impact. It’s the easiest way to release the club! I hope this helps! Thank you 😊

    • @sscully67
      @sscully67 2 года назад

      Aimee, is there a link to a video explaining how to use the index finger, as mentioned?

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  2 года назад +1

      Hi! At impact your hands should be either at or slightly forward of the ball. However for the driver it should be either at or slightly behind the ball. I hope this helps! Thanks ☺️

    I find that a lot of golfers have open eyes as well meaning they're looking to the right because they're trying to put everything they have into the swing, not swinging within yourself promotes head lean and eye wondering.

    Where do you looking!?
    - on the ball
    - in front, where your driver is
    - behind where the follow thru is
    🤔

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  2 года назад +1

      Hi Barney! Thanks for your question. The answer actually varies from person to person and phase to phase. At the moment I look at the golf ball but I focus on the target more than anything. So, even though my eyes are on the golf ball I’m actually seeing the target in my head. But it really depends on what you are working on or what thoughts help you to hit a great shot. I hope this helps! Thank you!

      Thanks for the answer👍
      with irons, i'm looking at the ball
      with driver, i'm looking 1-2inch behind the ball(where the driver is, bevor backswing/deepest point)
      Normaly it works...not everytime...
      that's golf🤷🏻‍♂️
