These pile ups have been occurring every year for over 60 years ... as if nothing could be done to prevent it from happening ... ie accident detectors, hwy warning lights sirens ... giant flashing signs that say accident ahead. I doubt this car-nage would be allowed to go on if the Secretary of Transportation agreed to take on the job knowing that they would be publicly executed by firing squad or hanging after each subsequent occurrence. I would also suggest using CEOs and Stock Holders of Auto Manufacturing Corporations as crash test dumbies on a regular basis. Nationwide General Strike. Occupy The Dept. Of Transportation Now! Citizens Arrest Buttigieg.

I mean depending on the area law enforcement should be able to stop traffic within minutes of being notified of the situation. So flashing signs wouldn’t necessarily make sense, maybe for an area with less patrols. Only real solution that can make a huge difference is more patrols set up along freeways so people wont speed.

@@user-bi2me1kj7p These pile ups occur at legal driving speed limits 55 - 70 mph In food and dust storms. Patrols and close circuit surveillance cams could monitor visibility; activating speed reduction signs .. slow to 45 mph etc. It's not just a few bad apples ... the transportation system is lethal. Or people could use common sense and drive slower in bad conditions

@@re2fanlicker2 ... anything, but to blame a system that is corrupt to the core? Have you seen the movie - Tucker? The auto industry could have installed air bags in the '60. They fought seat belts every step of the way. I have personally seen an audience of thousands stand and cheer when a keynote speaker at an auto trade show announced they had thwarted similar measures.

This happens BECAUSE people are ignoring the rules, they drive too fast, they do not use the principles of safe driving. It's this way all over the States. It's terrible. Observe the freakin' speed limits, do not follow super close, do not use your car as a cuss word. Stop following too close, and do not drive over 65. Then this sort of thing does not happen.
