FedEx Truck Slams Into 100-Car Pileup

- A deep freeze across much of the United States has led to treacherous conditions on the nation’s highways. At least five people were killed and many were injured in a massive pileup in Fort Worth, Texas that involved more than 100 cars. Car after car crashed into each other on I-35, which was coated in a slick sheet of ice that made driving treacherous. A careening FedEx truck and trailer slam into the pileup with staggering force, stunning onlookers. #InsideEdition
I feel bad every time someone gets killed in a car crash knowing that they were probably heading home from a hard day at work or picking up there children crushes my soul
I think of this too. I just saw an accident today , or the aftermath, it was a service truck of some sort and another vehicle and they had the whole intersection taped off, probably a death. when I think of how I feel after a long day at work in construction and picture myself in that guys place it is heart breaking, whether it be that HE died that way, just wanting to get home after work, or that another person died and all that comes with that ,it would make for a long miserable day for sure, it is horrible either way.
Upsetting stuff. It goes to show that life waits for no one, we gotta appreciate and enjoy every day as much as possible and be mindful not to hurt others.
That's life bro

Agree. That and if they're singe, do they have a pet at home waiting for them? Damn... made me tear up just thinking about it.
imagine coming to a safe, complete stop in your car and avoiding catastrophe, only to get slammed behind by some truck
It wasnt "safe stop" then. Check your mirrors, put your vehicle out of danger before it hits you.
Once I saw a flashing yellow light and warning to be prepared to stop. I was coming around circular concrete wall with no visible ability to see what was ahead of me. I complied and quickly came upon a stopped line of traffic. I stopped just in time. Immediately I looked in my mirror as now I was a sitting duck if the cars behind me did not obey the warning. Sure enough a policeman came around and nailed my car doing about $6000 in damage. I got out of the car and walked back to the policeman, and asked him why he did not obey the warning light. He said it wasn't flashing. I asked him to walk back to the sign with me to verify and he did. It was still flashing. Another policeman came to the collision site and after investigation came to me and said: "Hate to do this to one of my own, but he was guilty as Hell.

As a Canadian I have to say it's shocking to me to see so many people who don't understand the need to slow down in inclement weather. Many in Canada outlive their conditions but those cars on summer tires had no chance at that speed.
This was black ice, which practically is invisible. Also, I live in the area where the crash happened, the crash happened just a few dozen yards after a downhil, so it was hidden from those who were driving and they couldn't stop because of the speed they were going and the ice.
Yeah? Well if you hosers weren't so busy watching hockey you'd have time for Jesus.
@@Inspiration_YT_ They should have been driving slower then. Dumb drivers, one and all.
@PyramidgodMeekman6 I remember that day. There wasn't really any visible snow or I've, apart from the invisible black ice, so from the POV of the drivers it was just a clear but super cold morning.
Even in Canada, this happens!
I think that FedEx driver might have been going a little too fast to begin with, especially considering the weather and road conditions at that time.
And I'll bet all of them were fired.
You think
It seems like they were going 50mph which is already quite slow when the speed limit is 70 on Texan roads. It was cold but likely that all it took to do this was one crash and the cars/trucks didn’t have enough time to slow down. It was an unfortunate accident where one mistake costs multiple deaths.
Edit: I’m well aware that going 70 those conditions is insane. I’m just saying how 50mph is quite slow already but on ice trying to break a dozen hundreds of meters away from the break lights is pointless especially if you’re driving a truck that weighs many tons.
@@azalea9409 as a Canadian driver I gotta tell say, 50mph is way too fast in those conditions even for a passenger vehicle let alone that Fedex rig...

That’s why many countries have regulations on winter tires. It won’t make you grip like dry roads but you won’t lose as much grip as all season or summer tires. $500-1000 for a extra set of winter wheels is a small price to pay to reduce chance of accident.
Why would I buy winter tires in Las Vegas? It doesn't really snow here and I've never seen freezing rain except in videos.
@@TheBandit7613 wtf does Las Vegas have to do with anything?? 😂
1) 500-1000 is a lot of money for a lot of people for something that will be used a couple of days a year.
1) a lot of those were series, and 1000.00 isn't going to get close to buying tires .
@@mimib8032 well if winter tires would only benefit you a couple days a year then you aren’t someone that should buy them. People buy brand new 40-50k suvs for the purpose of winter capabilities and then when the snow / ice comes their all season tires lack of grip comes as a surprise when they try to stop in time for a stopped car or red light. $500 is much cheaper than deductibles and time invested into dealing with results of a car accident.
@@mimib8032 $1000 is too much yet people will spend 2-3k more for AWD and get worse gas mileage. Make it make sense.
I was in the middle of all of this madness and I'm on the road constantly through many different states. It seems that in fort Worth Dallas area they were not salting the roads nor did I see plows out and about very much. I didn't see them salting the roads at all. Having that salt on the road cuts through that ice and would save many lives if they were more prepared for these types of events. May God be with all the families affected by this event.

Damn. Thats scary. Imagine when a giant truck will hit your car.
gosh i know right
It’s remarkable only around 5 people died, I thought it would’ve been way worse with those semis slamming
And you’re in it 😬😬
No that’s something we don’t want to imagine.

One word: Speed. People need to drive to suit the conditions. Not the speed limit.
*Almost like speed limits were made for cars 30-50 years ago but our law were never kept to date, should probably pay your local government more.*
It isn't just speed. Skill is most important, and people usually think they have more of it than they actually possess.
Allot of the time (I did not say all of the time and nor the majority of the time) with today's cars the situation allows for plenty higher speeds than the speed limit. But yes in this case the situation you should drive well below the speed limit, preferably not moving at all.
I have a better idea, we should have trains instead of cars. Then we wouldn't have problems like this.
It had nothing to do with speed. The road was literally coated with ice
I know right, I was driving 90 on a 60 speed limit on a straight 2 lane road in a clear sunny day and I got ticketed.
May the victims rest in peace and I hope the injured recover! ❤️💪
What surprises me is the trucks and cars seem to be driving regular freeway speeds under snowy and icy conditions. At 60 mph a vehicle travels 88 feet per second. Going 60 mph on snow and ice? Wow!
this is so terrifying i feel so bad for everyone involved. makes you feel that much more grateful for life
My uncle was involved he was there but he did get hurt a lot, he wasn’t really near the truck, he just crashes into the truck cause he wasnt paying attention to the road, instead he was paying attention on the crash

@@unitedstatesirie7431 not really
This is scary. Prays to everyone. Man this really makes people think about driving.
Stop brake checking
Makes people think if you should be driving at all if you don’t know how to slow down and not do the speed limit
Their stupid for driving on the ice
@@_chopper_ sorry im from south americaa, can you what roads have ice and what road no?
You should ALWAYS be thinking about driving.
I'm actually amazed and relieved that ONLY 6 people died. It's still tragic, but just think of how much worse this horrific accident could have been
Out of HUNDREDS, I am surprised tbh
That's happened to me so many times where my front wheels got locked into snow at the edge of the road, and it just sucked me in! That poor guy! God really must have a plan for him that he survived!
You DO NOT WANT to be on the roads in Texas when there is ICE. They do not slow down or keep distance!
You seldom want to be on I-35 in Texas anyway.
People over there tailgate a lot...and u expect them to keep a distance?
@@fbyi2940 I mean... Yeah.
Yeah they don't know how to handle a car when there is snow or ice cause of the weather their used to
Do the road crews lay down sand during ice days in Texas?
*Texans* : “Ice or no ice, I’m doing 80 in a 65”

sounds about white!
I heard in the North people like to drive over 100 when its snowing and drive faster.
@@deltaboy2011 it's true
@@deltaboy2011 I've seen people drive 100 mph in 55 variable speed zone through Wyoming. See it too often as a truck driver
Texas driving exams need to teach drivers about going slow when there's ice
I hope everyone is ok and the news anchor has the nerve to point out the truck coming in last
imagine being the truckdriver or the guy in the car looking at the back mirror seeing the distance lessen and knowing you'll crash and probably die. this is shoking.
Or just get out of the car if you see it coming...

My dear friend died in the Dallas wreck. God bless his family. 🙏
This honestly hurts too look at. Imagine looking at the back of your car looking at a huge truck right behind you knowing that you’ll be crushed too death in less than a second. Everyday is a gift from God.
We don't have a reputation for horrible drivers for no reason. I was driving through DFW on Thursday (when the 100 car pileup happened) and people were tailgating and cutting in and out of traffic as if they were on a racetrack
Yeah they speed a lot in the south. Horrible drivers here. No one wants to slow down, everybody wants to rush. My mom could’ve lost her life more than three damn times where I live. All because of impatient drivers. Stop speeding!! The road isn’t going anywhere! Drive safely. Wish more people practiced safe driving.
@ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ 1800-LOVE-ZURII it had all to do with "horrible drivers' because a "horrible driver" is a driver who drives too fast for the road conditions. if everyone of those cars slowed down it could've prevented it.
@ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ 1800-LOVE-ZURII the point is, we knew (not just in DFW, but Texas in general) that the roads would be bad. There were people being careful, because WE KNEW and we also know that we don't have the equipment (salt trucks, etc) for bad winter road conditions, yet people were still driving like they were more important than anyone else. It was inevitable when people act like that
DFW is notorious for speeding drivers...when you add ice to that type of driving, it has disastrous consequences. RIP to the ones who perished. Praying for the survivors and rescuers. What a horrific tragedy.
@ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ 1800-LOVE-ZURII yeah, lets just not analyze what people could have done better so that maybe people reading it can do better in the future all because people died. Just scroll past it if you're so offended haha.
The “it won’t happen to me” attitude that so many drivers have is a dangerous one at that.
Slow down. Out the phones down. And stop letting your guard down.
Save a life!!!
That had nothing to do with this but sure kid
it was ice what was he supposed to do
Ive been an otr driver for a moving company for 7 years, winter driving is the only rime where i feel that i have to be 100% and above,i be going 15 mph on icy road and i still got trucks passing me at 60mph+,theres alot of people out there that shoudlnt be driving, they dont care about others on the road.i dont train drivers in the winter cause alot of them make mistakes in the summer, and you just cant even make small mistakes in the winter.
If your not from Fort Worth or Texas then don’t speak on this . We don’t get ice like that so it’s new for us when it’s icy
@@jadaclark4385 yes you do most winters.and so many dumbasses out there keep going at the same speed.ik ow cause im an otr truck driver.i call out accidents there before they happen.
