- The Honda Civic and the Skoda Laura have been some of the finest sedans to ever grace Indian soils. They both have throaty 1.8L 4-Cylinder engine and make satisfying amounts of power. The Skoda Laura is the turbocharged out of the two whereas the 2009 Honda Civic is a NA car. Both, the Laura as well as the Civic are peaches to drive in their own respect and both boasts some really good driving dynamics. But we wanted to find out, which of the two are better, the Honda Civic 1.8 or the Skoda Laura 1.8 TSI? Watch the video to find out!

Two cool cars to look into for car enthusiasts in under 5l budget. Been a happy owner of a Code6 tuned Magnum with a claimed 190hp/420, planning for a stage 2 (210/450) and then maybe move over to Laura TSI or Octy 1.8 if the budget allows. For people reading this, you can get a good used Optra Magnum for less than 4L. Get it tuned, you will have a torque monster in less than a price of i10. You will love every bit of your drive on highway, occasional races with the big guys. It never let you down if take good care of her.

Akhilesh Yadav I think 0-100 was 8.5 seconds or something. Anyways 0-100 depends a lot on the driver, tyres and the Tarmac etc
Not a good way to compare cars, reviewers need to focus more on the feeling part in such videos. Spec sheet we can read online too.

Stiffer suspension? Then why Civics' bottom out? Rear passengers get tossed around after 80+ in slightly uneven road surfaces due to the high pitching of the suspension...Steering feel and feedback at high speeds is a letdown. It's way too light and doesn't weigh up enough at high speeds. You even struggle to control the car at 100+ in the video and you say it darts into corners?? Reliability? Power steering fluid leaks on pump and rack, premature failure of the engine mounts, failing evaporator coil are some of the known issues with the Civic and since the spares are imported they'll cost you sky high!
Before you judge me, Iam a Civic owner myself and I love my car to the core. It's just that I admit the flaws straight forward.
I had to write this since people may watch this video in regard for purchasing their pre-owned one. Please do a thorough research about the car before shooting the video.

The chassis is stiff tho. Guess they meant that wrongly as suspension. I find the civic to be much stiffer than the city and other smaller honda's inspite of the suspension being on the softer side.

Inspite of the Civic having a soft suspension you do no feel the tendancy of the car bouncing when u hit an undulation on the road or feel like the car is crashing through a pot hole like say to a level a Honda City would. (Using this for comparison sake as it has a similar soft suspension setup which bottoms out when loaded). It was just my feeling as I own a 2007 Civic Automatic with 1,27,000 kms on the odo. To put it simple the car feels sturdy and like it has a stiff suspension inspite of having a soft suspension setup. I'm no expert theoretically so i found some articles which may help you:

I have a Škoda Laura ambiente which has a 2 litre diesel engine making 138 bhp and 320 nm of torque stock. One of the funnest cars I’ve had the pleasure of driving. Unfortunately due to ncr laws I’ll have to part ways with it soon and all the new cars I’ve tried don’t live up to it. Hoping the new wv virtus has some soul to it and would be a worthy successor.

Both of these guys did an awesome job loved it the weather looks good in your cities where is it,,,am from ooty so you know nice to see a rainy day in the cities makes it look good,,,I've worked in Bangalore so you know seen it there to,,,well the point is as it is the hanging on the civic is better cause of the lower ride quality of the car and I've been in a 2010 vw vento and its kinda tall and that's a pretty fun car at corners too but civic is kinda better,,,nice work guys I loved the content.. Laura has a good engine and some tuning to it packs a good punch to it nice...❤...

Hey! The Civic launches really well and if it was a normal Laura it would've been even closer but still the Laura would 100% edge the Civic out by the end. The tyres on the Laura we had no tread at all so traction was a big issue where as the Civic had some great tyres on it.

These cars are essentially shitboxes where they are sold well. Just because it's rare here doesn't make it any good. Both are very softly sprung cars with engines+gearbox tuned for fuel efficiency . If these cars "handle" well then any earlier model swift or Alto with coilovers and upgraded tires would be racecars😂.
This is the problem with our car culture...its nonexistent and anyone with a camera and the keys to a car can shoot a "review". On the other hand the popular one's are just a bunch of salesmen shooting videos for these car manufacturers.
