    Thank you Marek for this review again. The motor seems to be very good. It is strong, you don' t need high revs and can save fuel. 6,2 liters per 100 km are quite good, because you said you had driven the car a little sportier. Special thanks for your clarifying
    comment about the position of seat, steering wheel and dials. German testers are not willing to accept that Peugeot does it just different. I am fed up with this criticizing of the steering wheel position ( auto motor und sport, Autobild and other German car magazines). 5 speed manual transmission is also just fine in my opinion. I don' t want to shift more, I want to shift less! I am still very satisfied with my prefacelift Peugeot 208 ehdi 92. The car is just perfect for me and my wife. Diesel consumption 4 to 4,5 liters per 100 km, smooth start stop system that stops the engine below 20 km per hour ( unfortunately Peugeot changed the system in the facelift :-(), good comfort, nice shifting, pleasing design in interior and exterior, small gocart steering wheel, perfect position of the dials (like a head up display), etc. I could go on and tell more positive aspects, but nobody should fall asleep reading too long comments ;-)
    Thank you for a fair test!

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад

      I'm currently driving the new C3 1.2 110hp with a 5 speed manual. The shifts are very long, but that means you can drive in 3rd or 4th most of the time, unlike most cars these days, where the computer tells you to shift in 6th at 55 km/h. 208 is a decent car. Based on what Peugeot has done with the new 3008, I have high hopes for the next generation 208.

    • @christianschumacher6689
      @christianschumacher6689 8 лет назад

      Marek Drives The 3008 is a great car, I have already seen it at my Peugeot/Citroën dealer. Is far as I am informed Peugeot is going to make the next generation 208 more premium than the current model. But I can also imagine to buy the new C3, also with the 110 hp petrol engine, because my leasing contract on my 208 runs out in March 2018. At that time the new generation 208 probably won' t be on the market yet.
      How do you like the new C3 besides the engine and the shifting? Is it more comfortable than the 208?

    Wonderful, thanks. Also very cultured British accent, I like it. I'm about to buy one of these, and it seems I won't be commiting a serious mistake. It's probably going to be my favourite supermini soon. I currently still drive a 207SW with an old 1.4L petrol engine, and it's just "meh". Nothing really wrong with, but nothing exciting, either.
    My all-time favourite, though, is still my first car, a Peugeot 205 GRD, built in 1985. Consumed just below 5 L/100 km if driven sensibly, and surprisingly agile and quiet for an 80's diesel; at a time when a Golf diesel still sounded like a tractor.

    Peugeot screwed me once with the 108. They told me the connectivity to my smartphone will work within a few weeks and it still doesn't work. So I have a big electronic clock in the middle of my dashboard.
    The Bluetooth system sucks too.
    No more Peugeot pour moi

  • @MegaGecas
    @MegaGecas 8 лет назад +3

    Marek, you are wrong about steering wheel height. It's position is mistakenly regulated. Hold the wheel at a clock position "15 past eleven", then lift your fists as high as your shoulders are. That's the correct position of your steering wheel, recommended by professional drivers.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад

      +Vytautas Gečas I know what you mean, but in 208 there is no way to have the wheel this high. It is smaller, and in its highest setting it obstructs the dials.

    • @dufonrafal
      @dufonrafal 8 лет назад +2

      +Vytautas Gečas what? That's way too high in any car!
      Definitely not how I was taught.

    2015 and Peugeot manages to make an ok 5 speed manual XD, I really do not like the infotainment system, it doesn't blend with the cockpit. it's like if the cockpit was designed for another screen but this was cheaper so they glued this onto it. After-all it's a good little car with a bad badge. waiting for next week mx-5! PS: I should have fixed the privacy settings.

    Great review and a great little car! But you can actually change the intensity of the LED ambient light on the roof with the button located on the dashboard,between your speedo and your RPM meter. :)

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад +1

      +Juraj KG (candyman3108) Are you sure? I tried it, and I think it worked only for the dials and AC panel.

    • @JKG3108
      @JKG3108 8 лет назад

      +Marek Drives On my 2014 Pug 2008, I can dim the panoramic roof lights by switching the mentioned button on the dashboard,but as You said, the brightness of the instrument cluster as well as the AC panel would be darker. Maybe in the FL 208 the situation is different due to the fact that the 208,unlike the crossover, doesn't have the blue LED dials ( I reckon you remember them from the 2008 you drove earlier on). However, I have a dedicated menu in the Configuration of the car where I can change the direct intesity of the blue LED lights on the roof as well as the floor lights in the front of the car. Although I should point out that I have the older version of the screen software without the TPMS and the newer looking interface which you had here in this particular example. Maybe that's the issue?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад +1

      Juraj KG I tried discussing different type of displays and onboard computers with Peugeot, and they seem to be somewhat confused. Too many variants depending on model and trim. Which is strange, because I'd expect them to try unifying certain components.

    • @JKG3108
      @JKG3108 8 лет назад

      +Marek Drives Exactly. Remember the useless digital speedo on the 308? Actually that car has two display variants, depending on the trim level... If you ordered the car with the Active Cruise Control, you had the better looking display with Trip 1 ,Trip 2, Instant fuel consumption and media input respectively, and if you didn't order all that,you had the stupid looking digital speedo. The same thing is in the new 2008. They are still searching for themselves in the big world of infotaintment systems. I don't know what's your opinion on the so called Mirror Link thingy in the new 208 , since you didn';t mention in the review. Is it intuitive or you didn't bother with it at all?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад +1

      +Juraj KG (candyman3108) I forgot to film it. I had it in the screen, I've done all the other stuff, and this was the last shot. And I forgot.

    Do you have any comparison on this model 208 and the new 208GT Line model (Auto) that I am thinking of buying in Melbourne Australia. I only watch your reviews as they talk my language so to speak.. Also keep up your usual wit. Sacre bleu...

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад

      Hi, we don't have GT Line for 208 in Poland. AFAIK it's just a trim level. We have three basic trims, and then go straight to GTi.
      Also, I don't recall ever driving a small Peugeot with automatic transmission. Not very popular in Europe, so press fleets don't order them.

    What is your opinion of the 82 horse power 1.2l engine

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 3 года назад

      Underpowered.
      As for the rest, you have to look at maintenance history. Timing belt should be replaced much earlier, than manufacturer suggests, so a 2015 model with a 100k km on the clock should have this changed NOW. The car will probably be going through its second drive belt, and second set of spark plugs by now, so check when these were replaced. Early examples had crankshafts replaced under warranty. Maintenance is cheap, but necessary.

    • @markdigitalwealth
      @markdigitalwealth 3 года назад

      Thanks Marek, I have just bought mine, is a 2018 model with 15,500 miles, annual services all done by the local Peugeot dealership. I have 30 days to decide if i want to keep the car i bought, or change it for another car of equal or higher value of what i paid for my car within that dealership.
      Keep up the good work, your in depth reviews and insight are so informative,keep up the good work.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 3 года назад

      @@markdigitalwealth Peugeot has a very liberal service schedule for this engine. Spark plugs and drive belt are not officially due for at least another 15-20k miles, but should probably be replaced soonish. I assume it had its annual oil/filter change?

    • @markdigitalwealth
      @markdigitalwealth 3 года назад +1

      Yes, it had a major service b4 i bought it. I had a 1.4 HDi 207 b4 for 11 years, good car, never let me down until the fuel pump stopped working in the fuel tank, was told it was an uneconomical repair, so was forced into buying another car.
      I had intended buying another diesel, but with new taxes and legislation coming in the UK soon about diesels, i decided to buy a petrol model.

    • @markdigitalwealth
      @markdigitalwealth 3 года назад

      Hi Marek, just thought i”d let you know i got rid of my Allure 82 bhp back to the dealer, as in your words, it is underpowered as i discovered on a few occasion. I got a full refund ,and paid the difference in buying a 1 year old new shape 208 Allure 100hp, with quite a few extras on it i might add, incl the 3D i cockpit instrument panel, and the 10 inch infotainment screen with Satnav, as it was an ex demonstrator. Much nicer car to driver, with a lot more power. I think the 5 speed gearbox on my 82HP Allure was a nicer gearbox to use, but I’m getting on with the 6 speed box on my new car ver well.
