Funny how the "woke" all act exactly like all Socialists have always acted. Calling it woke doesn't change what it is. The Socialist left dreams of being Oskar Schindler, not realizing Oskar was a Socialist Nazi, just like them. The real left-wing kind instead of the imaginary right-wing kind that doesnt actually exist. George Washington was an actual far right-wing extremist and proof of this fact is the LIMITED GOVT he helped create.

That’s really what happened to Harley of late. The company is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, they need cash. The companies that control the cash lend it with strings attached forcing them to adopt ESG / DEI policies. So Harley did. And in so doing trashed their iconic brand and alienated the cult followers who kept the company afloat

Boycotts are a real thing. And many times, it has devastating effect on brands once loved by the consumers.Everything starts somehwere. I used to watch a lot of cable tv. I cut the cord long before the term was widely known and killed cable as we knew it. I used to go to the movies, but made a conscious decision that it wasnt worth it, and I also hated the fact that the product was manufactured in a comi-village called Hollyweird, were everybody was telling me my opinions and values were disgusting, and I should instead embrace their perceptions and world view. Stopped watching he mainstream media when I realized the channels was involved in some kind of leftwing branwashing and later woke extremism. I stopped using dating-apps, stopped going on dates and became a de facto Mgtow long before 99 percent of people knew the term. Now all of this has reached mainstream a long time ago. Hollywood is dead. MSM is dead. Movie theathers are empty. Women and society are flabbergasted that men are walking away from marriage and dating. Radio is dead. I can go on and on. But the point is that what I and millions of others started to excercise throuth our options, without giving it to much thought at the time, was in reality a boycott of products, services, public censorship, manipulation etc. We saw the writing on the wall, wether we were aware of it or not, and acted accordingly.

In 2018, i got my motorcycle license. I didn't know anything about Harley Davidson, but because our shop had them and we worked on them, that's what i was going to buy.
So i went into a few Harley Davidson dealers, and i was treated like absolute illegal alien crossing the border. It was that bad.
Salesmen wouldn't get out of their chairs. Sales staffing told me to look up any and all information i wanted online. Never offered a coffee or even a test ride.
This was happening to me at multiple dealers in different states. So is this the typical way Harley Davidson treats and interactions with their customers?
As i was poking around, I saw 2 year old brand new unsold units, and Harley Davidson wanted full list prices on. After 2 years?!
I also saw aftermarket bling, not even Harley Davidson performance parts, installed on brand new units. And of course with the additional northern upwards pricing fees to cover them.
After we ended up taking a bike back to the dealer 3 times to fix a warranty issue, i decided that if i ever was to buy a motorcycle, it wouldn't be from Harley.

Stepping through the history of how we got here... Harley-Davidson was started as a private company in 1903, it was bought by AMF in 1969, 13 investors bought it back in 1981, and it went public in 1986.
In 1986, a large percentage of shareholders were retail investors whose motivation was at least partly to support the company.
As the years went by, the percentage owned by institutional investors increased and now they are now the only significant influence on the company.
In theory, institutional investors are only interested in maximizing their return on investment.
So, we have to ask ourselves why are those institutional investors destroying the value of their investment by actively alienating the customers? Harley cannot survive a serious boycott that lasts more than a few quarters. The interruption of cash-flow would kill the dealer network and with no network, the company dies. Their products are already very expensive and are selling into a shrinking demographic with declining disposable income. Customers have alternatives in the used market and in Indian, Triumph, and Royal Enfield. Alternatives for service are everywhere and, if this keeps up, there will be more independent service businesses.
I think the answer is obvious.

What Harley needed to do is what Triumph and Royal Enfield just did. They just released two great entry level bikes (the Triumph 400x and RE Himalayan 450) that cost less than 6 grand brand new. Now, the quality is not on par with high end bikes, and they are both made in India, but they are both still pretty damn good! More than good enough for a young rider in his teens or twenties looking to get his first bike. And they look cool! They don't look like entry-level crap that you would be ashamed to ride. Harley tried to do something similar a few years ago with the Street models, but it was an abject failure, because they weren't anything like a Harley. The quality was bad, the design was bad and other Harley riders made fun of them. There are some other great entry-level bikes like the Honda CB500x and KTM390 which are also pretty inexpensive. And of course there are used bikes all day long. If you are a young person looking for cheap transportation, a bike is a great option. They are cheaper than cars, cheaper to insure, cheaper to maintain and repair and use way less gas. There is a reason why two-wheeled transportation is the standard in third world countries. It's cheap!

Dealer told me l was fortunate to get that bike at that price because the '73s would have a 50% tax added to them and the 74s would be 100% tax added. Seems Harley could not sell bikes at that time SO they went crying to the feds that foreign bikes were taking their business. After some money changed hands ALL foreign bikes had this tax added. American had great wages back in the 50s and 60s because we were the only true manufacturing power, so other countries had to overpay for our products because no one else was making them. US was the largest trading nation back then. Not the case today. Tariffs at best can protect US market, but US market alone can’t support American jobs. There is no way to go back the 50s as much as we would like to, unless, of course, we can start ww3 without getting ourselves involved. Hence, Ukraine.
