  • The Keychron S1 is a low profile, mechanical keyboard. It's pretty high end and has a lot of power for its size...but do you really need all that in a small board? Is this thing trying to be something it isn't? Are these just hypothetical questions? Tune in to find out!

Everything you are describing is exactly the reason why I want this board... i have the K3 V2. If I wanted a non-low profile option, there is a the Q3.
I want a solid build that is just going to sit at my home desk all day, i like the low-profile and form factor and have the K3 for travel.
Great review though. Exactly the comparisons i was looking for

S1 sounds and feels really good with that full metal body and no hollow space for the battery! Would recommend

Awesome! This would be a board for me if I didn’t already have a Q11 on my desk. Glad I could help!!!

Excellent review! Definitely seems like the k3 series is the better buy between the two. Heavier and no folding feet alone make it inferior. I wonder why they took steps back for this model. I'm curious to a review of the new nuphy air75 v2 if you get your hands on it

Thanks so much for the feedback! I had high hopes for this board but for me, it just doesn't make sense to pay su much more for something I don't need. Have a great day!

Which Keychron would you recommend if you wanted low profile but didn't need bluetooth

I think the K7 is my favorite low profile board if it’s going to be mobile. Otherwise, the K1 is a familiar layout and everything you need.

    1) always use my keyboards totally flat 2) wired 3) like the extra stability and sturdiness the metal would give. I think it's a keyboard for me. I also want the QMK

These are all really good points! I agree with all of them personally…that’s why I keep going back to the Q11. The K3 and K7 and the low profile boards I use now and I def lack the QMK ability.

Sounds like you should try the k3 pro! Keeps all the good things about k3 and adds via support and better quality. S1 kinda sacrifices the utility for that full metal body and gets rid of the battery to make it sound less hollow. IMO s1 sounds better than k3 or k3 pro, I really like the sturdy typing experience, but it is definitely a stationary home desk keyboard for me 😂

k11 pro or k15 pro are really nice keyboards that you can bring with you easily for the same price

totally agree! I haven't tried the K15 myself but I love the K11. It has led to me trying to find a better split layout for my my typing style

I'm actually getting rid of my K11 Pro this week! The K15 looks formidable but I prefer something with less keys when it comes to a travel board, just my opinion.
