    Air v2 = best range of features, particularly the keymapping. Good power management. Keys still sound slightly 'clackety'.
    Lofree = best feeling/sounding typing action (once O rings are added). Best quality, heaviest (2.5g) keycaps. Good power management. Feeble backlighting (though that's really due to Lofree's choice of keycaps which aren't shine through - you can actually fit Nuphy shine through key caps to these). Lacks other features eg. changing F-key default, media keys, no key mapping etc.
    K3 = worst keyboard here with flimsy keycaps, atrocious power management, terrible wake from sleep etc. Flimsy, cheap feeling and rattling when typing.

    Had both the K1 and K2 keychrons in the past. This review confirmed it's time to give NuPhy a shot. Anything to no longer feel the permanent shine on the ABS keycaps on my Logitech MX Mechanical Mini.

      I tried the MX Mechanical Mini and hated it, returned it immediately. The keycaps started to shine almost the second I first typed on them, the quality of them is simple awful + the tactile switches were horribly brittle and overly clacky to type on. You are paying £150 for a mini keyboard that has great connectivity and battery life with literally nothing else. I built my own custom (although not mini) keyboard for about £180 and it is 10x better to type on.

    Just ordered a LoFree flow. Love that sound 😍 The plan is to replace my Keychron K2, which is decent enough, but a little loud and clacky (frankly I find the sound annoying), and I've never fully bonded with the typing experience (brown switches). I have high hopes!

    I bought a K3v2 earlier this year and subsequently lubed the crap out of it, insulated it with foam, and fitted the backplate with some 3d printed stops.
    Having used the K3 pro, I would absolutely recommend the K3v2 with some work instead. The price is unbeatable for this level of quality.

    Great review! I own the lofree flow with linear switches and am waiting on my v2. The one negative about the flow is that it offers less than the v2 and the V2 works out to being cheaper than the lofree (lofree lacks the wireless dongle, no adjustable feet, smaller battery life, and no rgb) but that said, the sound of the keyboard is just SO good that I think it honestly makes up for it. I love typing on it. The v2 will be my gaming keyboard, I got the cowberry switches :)

      @flarierza33 I enjoy my v2 a lot but for different reasons to the flow. V2 is better for gaming for sure and the switches seem quicker than the linears on the lofree. Lofree still offers the better sound, more creamy compared to v2. I really only use the flow to hear it haha otherwise the v2 does everything I need it to.

    Nice video. I like the Nuphy keyboard aesthetic. However, they are gouging on their prices, including the wrist rest, where they charge $19. Then add in the very expensive shipping cost, and I always end up steering clear. Purchased a Royal Kludge M75 keyboard on sale on Amazon, and it has such a wonderful typing experience, that I ended up never getting the Nuphy.
    Still considering it, if the price of the keyboard and wrist rest drops to the $100 range....

    I got the K3 Pro because the V2 wasn't out and I use macro layers a lot. Fragility of a floating key design aside, I really like the K3 Pro for the extra rubber pads that allow you to use it without putting anything in the keyboard area of a mac, unlike the Nuphy feet - which if you have a keyboard protector like I do, really messes the equation up.

    I don't understand why, by default, none of these have shine through keycaps. If you are an early bird buyer of Nuphy, you can get shine through for free, which I think is available right now for the Air 60V2. I was surprised how much the V2 of the Air 75 sounded like V1 of the Air 60, so it feels like more should have been done. I have an older Keychron K7 with their older keycaps, which are shine through, and that makes seeing the caps lock light so much better. I also have an Air 96, and installed Keychron shinethrough keycaps on it, and my goodness it helps with the typing on that device. Obviously, Lofree seems to have spent all the money on the enclosure and the key switches, fo it sounds great, but I cringe on how those keycaps look to touch.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  8 месяцев назад

      I think a big consideration has been the move to PBT keycaps rather than ABS ones. It can be tough to find PBT shinethrough keycaps. This subreddit goes into more detail about it (www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/yoe3dw/why_is_it_so_hard_to_find_pbt_shine_through/) but I agree, it would be nice to have the option for some shinethroughs as a configuration choice during the checkout 👍

    Lofree is a close shot, but with this messed up layout (you may noticed home-end and pg up-down are mutually in wrong positions comparing to keychron or nuphy), and no option to remap the layout, it's a no deal for me. Which is said since it's probably going to take this company a couple of years before they build an updated version (it took nuphy 2 years)

    good review and looks like high production value. I find the BGM annoying and distracting as it sounds like a repeating jingle. I haven't heard a BGM in any of the mainstream tech reviewers for a long time, only see BGM on reviews that have no voice over audio. @@JakeReevesVideo it feels like the case seemed to be of higher quality, not so squeaky
      to be honest, I don't like the assembly of NuPhy keyboards at all, the keycaps also sometimes stand unevenly, sometimes asymmetrically, there is a feeling that I have a non-final product in front of me which is weird to say. I bought myself two Nuphy keyboards and returned them both Air and Halo series.

    Air 75 V2 blows away the other two out of the water when it comes to feature set. 2.4 GHz, QMK, extendable feet, big battery. LoFree Flow has none of that, and sounding a bit better cannot make up for that. Keychron is build worse and feels cheaper overall, it also has only 4 layers in VIA while Air V2 has 8.

      The Flow’s sound is significantly better and it more than makes up for the other short comings… for me. I don’t remap keys, I’m fine with plugging in once a week, I don’t use backlighting and I hate steep typing angles. I will concede that no 2.4 ghz kinda stinks. Other than that, I’m team Lofree.

      Lofree Flow is the winner for me. Buttery smooth typing action on the linear switches which is the main function of a keyboard. The Nuphy switches are rattly and cheap in comparison.

    • @Stinger913
      @Stinger913 4 месяца назад +5

      @@DMCnMEI thought flow sounded better too even tho I like thocc more than clak. Interestingly Lofrees true selling point is that it’s gasket mount for people who really don’t like firm boards. Keychron’s S1 board is low profile and all aluminum just like Lofree, whereas Nuphy is aluminum top but plastic bottom. I think there was a conscious design decision to go slight transparent plastic to see lighting on bottom/slide.
      Are you sure the nuphy switches are rattly and cheap? They have gateron v2 linears and two more linears of their own OEM modifying the gateron design. Never heard anyone describe them as “cheap” or rattly though I imagine all of the switches in all of these boards are by definition “cheap” 😂 for their manufacturers
      Lofree is Kailh clones, which again I find clacky but not buttery like gateron. Have you tested both? Just curious. Nuphy is not a cheap brand and definitely offers a lot more quality than a brand like Logitech’s G915-those are definitely the definition of cheap keycaps and cherry low profile clones at an absorbent mark up ($250 starting) no hot swap ability or QMK/VIA, no official keycap customization.

      That's a worse recommendation, if I want a membrane keyboard I would have just used my fcking built in laptop keyboard. All 3 keyboard above are mechanical and a much better option than a membrane. Plus its hot swappable meaning if you don't like the key then switch it out with other options in the market.
      The swappable option will last longer than the membrane plus you will save more if for example only 1 key is defective since you'll only replace that specific key rather than buying a whole new keyboard that a membrane keyboard would do.
