Documents of 1964 Murder of Three Civil Rights Workers Released

BNC's Jamiece Price covers the 1964 murder of three civil rights workers, James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, in Mississippi. Photographs, government documents and memos from the FBI were just released.
Goodman, Schwerner and Chaney were all in their 20s when they were murdered while investigating a church burning.

It's shocking no one was convicted of the murders since there wasn't a federal provision for indicting on murder charges back then and at the state level Mississippi failed to do the right thing and prosecute. The convicted of civil rights violations got a mere slap on the wrist. Alton Wayne Roberts. This is the name of the primary murderer. He first shot Schwerner in the heart, Goodman in the chest near the right shoulder, and one account is he finally Chaney in the lower back and head. James Jordan allegedly finished Chaney off. Another account however says James Jordan was first to shoot Chaney in the stomach followed by Roberts shooting him in the head and Doyle Barnette adding two more shots at Chaney. Injustice sucks!

The first I heard about this was watching the movie “Selma”. It should be WIDELY known. White rage killed these civil rights workers, & police did nothing to stop it. Was the case ever solved? Two white men, one Black, and all so young. What a tragedy.
