- On June 21, 1964, civil rights workers Andrew Goodman, James Chaney and Michael Schwerner were ambushed and shot dead by the Ku Klux Klan in Mississippi. Their deaths were dramatized in the 1988 film "Mississippi Burning." David Goodman, the brother of Andrew Goodman, reflects on the case that captured the nation's attention.
They found 9 other black bodies no one had ever heard of shame shame shame
Wicked wicked wicked, evil evil evil
Marcella,God bless America. Christian need to ask, what's the name of this God that's blessings America.
@Number Nine , you already have one. President Trump.
Damn fact is scarier than fiction. Satanic coven in the South that still probably killing black ppl
Ik this is the saddest thing I've ever heard yet in 2020 is there REALLY ANY CHANGE??I'm so sad to say i think NOT!! I'm from parents that our imagrants and ik somethings about people judging u based on not speaking English right or not from being from here and I still can't imagine the life that people deal with everyday for decades this HATE NEEDS TO STOP AND THE PRESIDENT NEEDS TO STOP SPREADING HATE!! God BLESS U ALL
R.I.P Micheal Schwerner 1939-1964, James Chaney 1943-1964 and, Andrew Goodman 1943-1964. And may we remember that their efforts were not in vain as their deaths were followed by the passage of the Civil rights act a month later on July 2,1964 and the Voting rights act a year later on August 6,1965.
No one wants to speak about that
How were they killed??
and nothing has changed except the color of the oppressors
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
IF IT WERE JUST THE BLACK YOUNG MAN FOUND , WHAT WOULD BE YOUR REACTION?
I was 10 years old in 1964. The murders were shocking then and they are still shocking today. I can't imagine the horror these 3 young men went through. And all because they believed in doing the right thing. My heart goes out to their families. Much has been accomplished in the fight against racial injustices since 1964 but we still have more to do. I think of the 3 civil rights workers and how their lives would have been if they had lived. May they rest in God's eternal kingdom.
R.i.p to the 9 black souls
@brasileiros Silva foh
brasileiros Silva are you crazy rip of white peoples what is wrong of you
Amen to that
Southern trees bear strange fruit
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees
Pastoral scene of the gallant south
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh
Here is fruit for the crows to pluck
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop
Here is a strange and bitter crop
Song Notes
“Strange Fruit” is a song performed most famously by Billie Holiday, who first sang and recorded it in 1939. Written by a white, Jewish high school teacher from the Bronx and a member of the Communist Party, Abel Meeropol.
Thanks for posting the lyrics.
I didn't know someone else actually wrote the lyrics.
Reading them always hurts my heart
Nina Simone also song a cover for this song
@@tasharrahcalloway9305 gonna have to check that out, love nina simone.
Still true today.
@@ahnraemenkhera7451 Yes & let's not forget about mental slavery
I'll never understand the stupidity and hatred.
If you go to these Christian churches you never will.
It’s so hard for me to process that all of these things occurred just 6 years before I was born. Such widespread, almost publicly supported hatred. We have a sign in our home that says “hatred has no home here.” This gives it new meaning.
any Trump hatred in your home?
God bless their souls and may they Rest In Peace ✌🏿
The Goodmans are a family of great human beings.
These young men had Balls. CORE: We're sending you to Mississippi. ME: I'm out.
When I learned about this in class I was surprised about how alike Michael Schwerner AnD my dad looked. I later found out it’s because I’m actually related to him on my dads side. That’s why they look so alike, almost identical actually. It’s terrible what happened and it was an amazing experience to learn about this in class.
who cares?
That's absolutely incredible. What a family legacy to have of justice and bravery. God bless you and your family
The Most High is coming for you
Indeed, praise Jesus Christ
Yes he is.
Civil rights is everyone's rights.
This is sooo surreal. It is one thing to see a picture of his face and it's another to seem him move and scratch his head and blink his eyes. To hear his brothers voice. He was just a kid that wanted to do the right thing. I just watched another video and it said that when they buried him in the sand after they shot him, he may have still been alive because they found sand in his lungs. My God. My all 3 three of these brave young men find the peace in the here after that this evil world did not give them. I'm so sad right now. So angry all over again..
Andrew Goodman was truly a Goodman.
Andrew Greatman.
I doff my cap with immense respect to these three young men. May they rest in peace.
Smh 🤦🏾♂️This is ridiculous, they couldn’t even fight for their without being killed in the process. R.i.p gentlemen
Overdue justice.
9 bodies?
Omg 😳 I’ve never heard that part. 9 black bodies..... 😭
Lest...we forget...
250 civil rights activists were murdered in this era.
If you didn't know this, then start to ask yourself why.
Media.
R.I.P. to the three young men that were murdered.
God bless these young men
Heartbreaking for those 3 youngsters was murdered for nothing those murdering men they shall burn forever
We were in Mississippi during this time visiting my grandparents.
Why were the cops not charged with civil rights violations?
They were. Sheriff Lawrence Rainey was acquitted, but Deputy Cecil Price was convicted, in a Federal trial in 1967. I think a city policeman was charged too, but I cannot recall the verdict against him offhand.
RIP
Andrew Goodman
(1943-1964)
James Chaney
(1943-1964)
and
Michael Schwerner
(1939-1964)
RIP to all three beautiful angels 🙏🏾🕊️🕊️🕊️
@@gregd4633 One African American and two Jewish men didn't deserve to be murdered, what they did for the Civil Rights Movement will never be forgotten.
Thank You to these Three Brave Young Men because of them my family in the South can VOTE MAY YOU ALL FIND PEACE IN HEAVEN.
Fine, graceful reporting.
Thank You
James Chaney blood is my blood💙. I hate anyone has had or have to go through this, but this hit different when it’s your own..
Vengeance is mine says the Lord.
Nick Harley the moment we pass from this life we are asked to give an account of our deeds while on earth.
cherry rotella true vengeance is in the day of The Most High JUDGEMENT. So you may pass on from this life, but still have to answer for your sinful deeds on JUDGEMENT DAY by The Most High YAH
Never forget Schwerner Goodman Cheney
I had never heard of these three brave young men. And the sacrifices that they made. I learned about them from the movie Tales from the Hood. I stopped watching the movie to look them us. Ray Edgar is 89 and he's serving 69 years. When he dies they should bury him on the grounds of the prison until ha has finished serving his sentence. Then give his body to his family.
Wow I would hate for you to be my JUDGE 😆
This very sad
R.I.P🕊️✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
The actors look just like them.
It is almost 60 years since this happened.
This was a chocker for me when i was around 11
respect your elder
All of this is so very Shameful. Unless the perpetrators repent..... God judges all of us! This is really heartbreaking. 😑
We need more Statues of honor men like them who stood up for something for freedom, rights. And take down these racist ones.
I agree but I also think they can leave the old statues jus tell the truth of who they were on the plaque.
Racism still bad down hea in Mississippi
I live in St. Louis. No different here. MLK said after having rocks thrown at him during a Chicago march in 1966 that "the people of Mississippi should come here to Chicago to learn how to hate."
Sorry
Leave or fight it.
What u say
@@dixiedeed4918 He said “Leave or fight it”.
Still going on
Drove down throw there 1980s. Still kinda the same.
40 years ago. idiot
Justice? They got a slap on the wrist.
Such a shame. Hate is a powerful force.
We need another Andy
Nobody should be beaten or killed for believing in the rights of themselves and others. Those who do ... are uneducated because they do not know how to share their views intellectually, verbally, peacefully, or respectfully
We are still in he same place dealing with the same ignorance. Hate because of skin.
nope, behavior
Now it's 2024 & racism is still here
I wish our young men and women could understand what fine men and women there were during that time. Maybe they would leave alot of their desires behind and become upstanding individuals to better our society.
Why you elders always make us look ignorant, we’re not all the same who just look at their phones and do nothing for the society.
OH Mr w, there is a very serious consequence to pay for all these evils
Another viewing that Neshoba County, Mississippi needs to Self Reflect on! What an atrocious painful event where I grew up! I was also a victim and almost banished from Neshoba County for speaking out about modern day racism and Rascist groups in Neshoba County!
Mrs Fannie Lou Hamer (1917-1977) talks about this on 24 sept 1965 in this audio interview ruclips.net/video/-a3KqhkPQ-s/видео.html where the British journalist is Monsieur Colin Edwards : at about 27th min.
FLH: No, because, as you know, the 3 civil rights workers that was murdered in Mississippi, they say their civil rights hadn't been violated. But they are dead.
CE: And one of their killers is still the sheriff?
FLH: That's right.
Where does it come from ? The hate
Man's evil heart and Satan.
Hate is tought
Patents
Ignorance and fear which is taught in the home.
It comes from the God of this world, Devil bless America.
Sadly we don't have this idealism any longer.
We should be ashamed of ourselves and re think I watch this and cringe
So very savage.

Jerry Mitchell ... 👏👏👏 #NeverGiveUp
They were working together that they were killed together
Well better late than never and he died in prison.
These three good men need to be cannonized saints. Being a Catholic is not a requirement to be cannonized. Non Catholics became saints in the Catholic church such as Jewish philosopher Edith Stein.

If I say what I want to the comment will just get deleted. The people deserve to know the truth but the Beast has decided against that.
Jesus didn't do anything bad either and was brutally attacked tortured and murdered. People like these three young activists that die for a good cause automatically win a spot in heaven. RIP ❤❤❤❤
