    I remember my dad back in the 70’s and early 80’s watching Arguello box. Watching him was like taking a live lesson in boxing, both technically and morally. The way he treated his opponents once he defeated them-such a Nobleman. I remember watching him live during his fight with pryor, that was such unjust, we all now know that pryor was taking some type of drug to gain back strenth during fight which was totally ilgegal yet no one protested. Life can be so unfair. May his sweet sould rest in peace until one day we all meet again. Love you champ, I will remember you in prayers tonight so your soul may rest in peace up in heaven.

  • @BoxingLife
    @BoxingLife  Год назад +11

    Glad to see you enjoyed the film study everyone! Just a couple of extra things I should've also mentioned about the foot positioning of Argeullo vs southpaws.
    *Common rule of thumb is the outside foot positioning gives you an advantage against southpaws (and vice versa). He would also be behind his opponents right shoulder by slipping left so they couldn't reach him with jabs or right hooks unit he was on the inside. Hence how he was able to set up the right hand so well. (T-Position) He would occasionally step into center line to mix thing up while throwing a left hook. But he did try to consistently be on the outside with his foot positioning, hence what made him so successful. (Just in case you were wondering why I highlighted the feet often in the video)
    If you want to find out more about Arguello you can watch my style breakdown here: ruclips.net/video/AdhN5gQFkbk/видео.html

    • @ricpr
      @ricpr Год назад +2

      I'm glad you highlight the footwork. The amount of people that overlook just how important it is to keep your lead foot to the outside with a southpaw so they walk themselves into a right can't be overplayed. That's the kind of stuff that makes it a science and Arguello one of its better teachers.

    Damn shame we never got to see Arguello vs Salvador Sanchez. Arguello was on his way out of FW while Salvador was on his way in.

    Like a all star pro baseball home run sluggers have a different sound when taking batting practice, Arguello's punches just sound harder with more pop.
