For years I’ve been watching how the trainers and coaches do their work. In the past it’s been hard to find any inside information, but the past couple of years more RUclipsrs have been getting interviews with the behind the scenes coaches and trainers.
I believe when we’re talking about championship/elite boxers, the trainer often makes the difference. If two fighters were equal, the better trainer and coaching would prevail. That’s why I don’t believe at the very top level a fighter should have his father as his primary trainer/corner man.

It didn't come from blue collar workers. It came from black club fighters who worked the chittling circuit and dive bars because they couldn't get legitimate fights with the professionals. These guys fought weekly, hence they developed a style that allowed for them to reduce punishment and still be able to fight next week.
Blue Collar workers didn't have the time away from work to travel to the different bars in different states to fight weekly. Hence they wouldnt have need for a style that preserved them. Rather blue collar workers were sponsored by unions, groups, clubs and developed fan-friendly rock em sock em style of boxing to stay employed by their benefactors.

ADD PIECES OF "JERSEY JOE WALCOTT AND EZZARD CHARLES" TO THE PUZZLE AS WELL???🤔🤔
Like Hearns, McCallum and Julian Jackson, "MELL" would "RAISE HELL" in his division and RUIN CAREERS, particularly that "🤡 TSYZU" as a result!!!

Great video, never knew the origins of the Philly Shell regards the "Gym Warriors" who developed the style as a means to defend themselves when tired. Makes perfect sense as Ive somehow adopted a Philly shell type gaurd ( albeit an extremely penetrable one :) ) as MuayThai coach who spars with students 5 to 6 hours per day on top of my own training. Do you think a similar reason is why James Toney perfected this style, favouring running and sparring over technical and padwork. Any other recommendations where to look or a deep dive on the gym warrior types and training ethos would be very interesting to me
