It was good to meet you and loved your enthusiasm Gary . I missed you as you left before I got back to the ward take care and hope things go well for you. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Jazz had a sea trout on the day and he deserved it he tries hard and I always look forward to his cooking skills . when we went to the Helmsdale he appeard in the evenings .....pre drinks with Cheese and cured sausage just to keep us going until our evening meal .... I love eating almost as much as fishing Cheers Iain. 🥃
It was an enjoyable day Frank Good company, something nice to eat, a great stretch of water to fish and a wee dram to warm up with at the start of the day My idea of heaven Cheers Iain. 🥃
My Father in law often said in a broad Aberdeenshire accent (Doric) ye,re a lang time deed so mack the best o it while ye,re here ........ he as been away for a few years now but I often think of him we have to enjoy our lives and treat each day as our last because one day it may be it may sound morbid but we should have fun and enjoy the things we have All the very best Paddy and tight lines Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great piece of water Iain thought there would be more anglers there on opening day , but there we are more water for you to fish. Thankyou for sharing Iain. 🍷 Steve.
I think the boss wanted to limit rods and just have something simple Stephen. As far as I am aware it used to be a big occasion and the opening ceremony was used to be well attended and had died away over the years. after seeing this I think next year could be a bit better attended as there seem to be finock there early in the year Cheers Iain. 🥃
Early Feb Iain and already you've given it a good go - Helmsdale, Tay. Tweed and Earn. Well done. Looked to have a tad too much watter for your best chance. Tight lines!
It was my first time fishing there John. I should have made the effort years ago and hope to get back and have a cast again sometime this year Cheers Iain. 🥃
Sorry about the time taken to respond GT. You will be well looked after by Ben and I am sure that you will enjoy your days fishing on the beat . Tight lines when you get there Cheers Iain 🥃
Nice river Ian. All down to "river craft" over years of experience I am sure ! Knowing where to fish is the key, reading the conditions and placing those casts. A pity the fish were not so cooperative 😢😢 But one could drown ones sorrows with a wee dram😂
It was a good day Christopher There are springers getting caught on the River Tay and the season has now started on the river Tweed and a fish was caught today ... I am looking forward to a few more days out and the odd dram. Cheers Iain 🥃
It was the first time fishing there but I will need to get back there for a cast in the summer. The River Earn was once one of the premier sea trout rivers in Scotland and still produces some good catches Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks Steve I never thought that I would get a wee sea trout. it was more abut an enjoyable day at the river with good company Hears to fishing. Cheers Iain. 🥃
I think that so far this year I have been lucky with river levels when I have fished and I can't remember being washed off last year even although we have had a lot of rain . maybe the rain gods have been smiling on me ... See you next month. Cheers Iain. 🥃 PS. Ben is going to Tulcan Just need to wait and see if he brings more refreshment 😉
The head I was using was one of the original guideline 10/11 multi tip, when you bought them you cut the body to suit your rod . I have two and the one that I was using was my short 22ft body and I can add fast sink tips unto 25ft long in needed and the rod will handle it . it is quite a fat body and turns the weighted tips over with ease Cheers Iain. 🥃
I counted myself lucky getting a wee finock and having Jas firing up the BBQ and cooking the food . The springers are in most rivers now and hopefully I get out again soon Cheers Iain 🥃
there was more quality liquid in Ben,s hut . Ben is definitely from further south than the Earn . He has fished all over and has good knowledge of the river. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks for the tips at st johns, absolutely fantastic mate.
It was good to meet you and loved your enthusiasm Gary . I missed you as you left before I got back to the ward take care and hope things go well for you. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Jee whiz Ian I can't keep up. What a start to 2024! Thanks for bringing us along. Rumour has it, Jazz is just as good a cook as he is a fisherman.

I have still to get out on the Tweed Phillip but have plans to fish there later this month if not sooner Cheers Iain 🥃
Nice outing Iain. A tug on the line and a bank-side sausage roll ain't half bad.
I was a bit of a pig Jon. I had a burger as well and had to have half another sausage roll ........ no wonder my waders felt tight Cheers Iain 🥃
Another nice looking river ian tight lines m8 for the season
It was my first time fishing there John. I should have made the effort years ago and hope to get back and have a cast again sometime this year Cheers Iain. 🥃

Looks a great water to fish. I was due to fish it last year with Cornish Chris but alas it was in massive flood and in the fields.
I think that so far this year I have been lucky with river levels when I have fished and I can't remember being washed off last year even although we have had a lot of rain . maybe the rain gods have been smiling on me ... See you next month. Cheers Iain. 🥃

Add one small silver tourist and that would have been a day in heaven for most anglers. Ok it was not to be this time, but you never know do you?
I counted myself lucky getting a wee finock and having Jas firing up the BBQ and cooking the food . The springers are in most rivers now and hopefully I get out again soon

Is sandy retired now from kinkell? Great video Iain!
Yes Richard, Ben has been there for a while now and has quite a bit of knowledge about the beat Cheers Iain
Shortage of Whisky on that opening day Iain.......Not. Tight lines. Ghillie has a Newcastle twang.
there was more quality liquid in Ben,s hut . Ben is definitely from further south than the Earn . He has fished all over and has good knowledge of the river. Cheers Iain. 🥃
