SIMPLE DOUBLE BRIM HAT - FREE CROCHET PATTERN

  • WRITTEN PATTERN: wilmade.com/simple-double-bri...
    Note about the yarn! The yarn that I used in this video is different than what the pattern asks for. I only had enough Willow & Lark yarn to make 1 hat, so I had to use other (local) yarn to make a video tutorial. I used two strands because this other yarn was really thin. The hat on the picture is made with 1 strand Willow & Lark!
    Let me know which colors you're going to use. Also, are you going to use a faux pom pom, make one yourself with yarn or none?

    I love the double colored brim. I want to try this one. I have stayed away from hat patterns with decreasing, but I'm ready to try. Can you suggest a video that teaches decreasing. Thank you for the inspiration.

    • @WilmaWestenberg
      @WilmaWestenberg  6 лет назад +2

      You can do it! You only need to decrease a bit on top. And decreasing is really easy, you can see how to do it at the end of my video. Or you can type in 'single crochet decrease' on youtube, I think you will find lots of videos! x

    How do you not loose count of your rows when you are working in the round? I love the double rim, will be trying it for sure.

    • @WilmaWestenberg
      @WilmaWestenberg  6 лет назад +1

      I personally looked at the seam where I changed from pink to grey! That's my starting point. You can also use a stitch marker if you have one (or use a scrap yarn to mark where you started the row)

    It’s wonderful, really 🙂 but I had to decrease number of rows, and to decrease stitches earlier. I started to make a hat like you, but it was weird on my head 😂 my head is smaller or a different shape 👽

    • @WilmaWestenberg
      @WilmaWestenberg  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much! It can also depend on your tension and yarn you used - if you have a more bulky yarn, you would need less stitches! :)

    • @catz2317
      @catz2317 6 лет назад +1

      Wilma Westenberg You are right! I used thinner and firmer thread, it isn’t soft like wool. Stitches are small, and it looks very nice, but the shape is little changed. But it still looks good when I’m wearing it 😁

    Do I have to double the yarn? Or could this be done with one strand?

    • @WilmaWestenberg
      @WilmaWestenberg  6 лет назад +1

      Just one strand if you use the yarn that is mentioned in the video (or similar yarn). I only had enough yarn to make 1 hat so I had to use other yarn for my video. But that was very thin yarn so I used 2 strands :)

    I love this hat Wilma! I think it's great for either sex too. I am hoping there's another tutorial after the holiday. I need a lil more help. In also curious about the yarn choice. Did you use a thinner yarn so you could double it or was it because it's so soft and you enjoy the yarn ( I'm sure you enjoy it either way😄) do you went with it but needed it thicker strands? Can we use a 4 weight rather than doubling( maybe the yarn your using is thicker than I realize and I should double a4. No no n in air yours is thinner lolol 🤪 anyway. I like your foundation row technique.. I've tried it before and really struggled. Do you have a trick for making it so effortless? Ok ok sorry lol so many questions 😅 😂 🤣
    I'll stop here and wish you a delightful and joyous Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 💕
    Thank you again!!
    Ps a big goofball i am, didn't stop to read your post and I knew it was doubled due to thinness ☺ weren't i have time I'll Check out the weight of the one you ordered to make the hat in the photo. But I still need help with a cpl things very minor really.. I'm sure I can work then out.. like how you joined the foundation row. Anywho. Toodles sweety ♥

    I wish you would talk. My eyes are damaged and I don't know how long the video went on before I was holding my phone about an inch from my eyes and I caught a glimpse of white letters. It helps if you could talk to let us know things like next row is coming. How many stitches. Time to turn. Etc. I don't know anyone else with this pattern. I'll keep trying but I'll be glad when it's over. Nice hat tho.
