Cleaning & Sanitizing Beehive Frames

After harvesting honey, we spend time cleaning and sanitizing our bee boxes, tops, bottoms, and frames so we're ready for the next swarm season. There are a few ways to clean them. We find this way to be the fastest and easiest way to clean them. All you have to do is dip the wood in the boiling water. The wax and other debris comes off in a few seconds. While you hold the wood in the water, scoop out the wax and debris with some mesh so when you pull the wood out, the dirt doesn't get stuck on the wood again. Don't leave the wood in the water too long so it doesn't get too soaked. You can then leave the wood out to dry for a bit. Boiling the wood not only cleans it, but it sanitizes it.
