    Oooh a lot more than I was expecting, but seems pretty manageable mate! Nothing better than a nice clean canvas though!

    • @goldshiftgarage
      @goldshiftgarage  Год назад +1

      yeah mate a few of those patches were unexpected that's for sure. still manageable to replace / repair so the challenge is excepted LOL, it sure is nice to see it taken back to bare metal.

    Replace the rocker panels with repo's saving you from welding a hodge podge of patches and it will tidy up the sharpness of the body line.

      @goldshiftgarage  Год назад +1

      thanks for the advice, one peice would be better than a heap of small patches 👍

    Use rust prevention fluids and waxes . Recommend epoxy priming then using a 3M cavity wax [most cannot do vertical surfaces ] with 1mtr wand kit . 3M Cav wax takes 3mths to dry . 3M Cav wax hangs great inside doors . It does have some penetration of overlap joints . There are dedicated waxes for this as well .
    Once finished final rust proof with Steel seal by Lanotec is an option ..Would describe this as more for wheel arches under body areas . Great for hard to access areas and durable .
    Beaware many rust proof products donot come to ozzy

      3M seem to have some great products when it comes to restorations, i didnt know about the waxes. thanks for info i appreciate it

    Crikeys, I'm not a pro welder but I feel like one after seeing some of those! But hey, nothing you can't fix and it still looked ok when the filler was over it.

    • @goldshiftgarage
      @goldshiftgarage  Год назад

      haha i don't feel bad atm either after seeing those welds ( hope mine are better ) haha, its left me a bit of work ahead thats for sure, how's yours coming along?

    • @oo0Spyder0oo
      @oo0Spyder0oo Год назад +1

      @@goldshiftgarage Yeah just welded in the plenum top cowl couple of days ago, it was hard to drill all those holes into a nice $600+ piece of metal I can tell you! Can't say it fit that great as I had to push it down hard in one corner to make those square holes line up but it seems ok now. About to get real on the primer and sanding of the body next. Shed's getting a touch warrm now so sweaty days ahead, 😞

    It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster sandblasting. Some parts are better than expected, some parts are worse and then it uncovers damage you had no idea about 😂

      @The-State-of-it it sure is, i new about most of the rust effected area's but those patches...... didn't see that coming hahaha. nothing time n patience wont fix. i guess the hard work degins now

    Might be quicker and easier to replace the 1/4 panels. I did on my WB ute, easier than you think.

    • @goldshiftgarage
      @goldshiftgarage  Год назад +1

      thanks mate, is it just a matter of unpicking the 1/4 panel skin and replacing? it may be worth doing that

    Maaaate, you gota replace those previous patches, they are chookshit x100. check for weld penetration on the back side i doubt theres any looking how shit the welds were before grinding. Most of those panels can be brought and welded in. Close enough is good enough and do your best and fill the rest is its
    only an old holden😂

      You may be right, i was thinking a promo ute as you could almost make out some lettering down both sides of the body. either way i have to fix it 😁
