What a gifted and talented player. He did it all and accomplished so much at Michigan. Good times for real for Michigan fans. And good luck this season. From a Buckeye fan.

Personally I don't think, that there has been a corner or defensive player better. Before or after. He went back to the Raiders and transitioned effortlessly in to a Safety. A man of many hats.
I agree 💯 percent. Charles Woodson is the greatest overall football player ever college and NFL. Woodson is great on defense offense and special teams. And Woodson is a WINNER. Go Blue 🏈
@@bobbyanderson5601 I second this. From high school throughout his nfl career no player in history offense or defense is greater than Woodson. Thorpe, Heisman, and NFL Defensive Player of the year. The last 2 awards are super rare for a corner
Don't forget Safety. To me Charles Woodson is rhe greatest Football player ever College & NFL. No one did more elite things on a football field than Charles Woodson.
Chuck is the greatest football player of all time, full stop. Great team player, shut down corner, quarter back dream at receiver, solid tackler. A man against boy's who NEVER asked for attention. The best football player of all time.
I got a Michigan hat at 9 years old (1997) because of Woodson. Such good times. I think that year or the next I got a Barry Sanders jersey. Fucking Michigan.
Charles Woodson was the greatest College Football player - any position - that I've ever had the pleasure of watching. He could literally do ANYTHING his coach asked of him - ANYTHING!
I got to meet him in 1996 after the Notre Dame game the year he won the Heisman, and we won the championship. A staffer selected me during the game to meet all the players afterward. They pulled him out early from his press conference; he was super happy to not have to talk to the press anymore lol. I was like 9 years old; he was super nice. He signed a hat they gave me, and took a pic with me. GO BLUE!!!
6:55 That was just a well-set-up play right there! That lineman made a block, the QB even made a block, and Woodson was GONE! Love it when a plan comes together, ya know?
I was a sophomore in high school when woodson was doing his thing at Michigan. I remember thinking how much swag he had, no matter what he did he made it look good. Deion Sanders was an NFL veteran, but still dominating while woodson was in college, but it seemed clear that he would be his heir apparent. I do think Sanders was a better overall cover corner, but woodson wasn't far behind. It might sound like a weird thing to say considering woodson finished with 65 career interceptions to deion's 54, but Deion in his prime was pretty damn dominant and most qbs avoided throwing his way at all. Woodson also played quite a bit of safety towards the end of his career whereas Deion played more cb and very little safety. On the flipside, woodson was way more physical. Deion was often criticized for avoiding contact, whereas woodson could get physical in the front seven. Both men had football IQs off the charts. As far as im concerned they are 1A and 1B, both all time greats. If i were building an all time time, they would be my starting corners.
MICHIGAN STATE PLAYER and Raider fan so I love Charles Woodson what a gifted player. That 98 Michigan team was really just slightly above average, read Lou Holtz's book he mentions that. Charle Woodson not only carried that Michigan team to a co championship (Nebraska next year they had the B.C.S), he was the one constant on the Raiders defense, you did not have to ever worry about. The football debate on NFL com and it is a good one. Which position requires the highest football IQ. Before you go rushing to say the Quarterback or a good well rounded pass blocking/run blocking, pass catching runningback stop. It is the Cornerback/Defensive back. An elite Corner like Patrick Peterson or back in the day my hero, Charles Woodson of Michigan could take out the other teams #1 wide receiver, which changes the outcome of the game. The corner/defensiveback must play the role of a quarterback because he needs to 1- be able to read the quarterback 2- check the wideout and 3- the wide receiver and Qb have 1 key advantage. They KNOW what the play is, the Corner is relying on 1- instincts and 2- his football IQ. So you can say offensive lineman, TE/HB, WR or QB but I will make the argument for a corner back and or a safety(they are very similar positions except for the fact that the safety is the last line of defnse and the corner is out there on an ISLAND. There is a lot of empty space that the corner is responsible for and he is responsible for any WR, TE HB or FB. Keep in mind if I am equal to you in speed say we both run a 4.4 40 and I know the play, I know where I am going you don't I hae the advantage. As long as my quarterback isn't a moron and can throw accurately, I should have a beat on you so it's a no brainer, the corner has the highest football IQ. I am not just saying this because I was a corner, caveat shout out to all of my corners. You heard the jokes before, "the reason why he is a corner is because he can't catch, otherwise he would have been a receiver." Do that I say See Charles Woodson. That 98 Michigan team was the definition of AVERAGE, Charles single highhandedly carried that Michigan D to a championship. I

I’m not a Michigan fan but he totally deserved to win the Heisman that year. After that one-handed interception against MSU I was like “he could win it” and then after the Ohio State game I was like “he SHOULD win it”. I’m glad he did. Manning didn’t do enough that year and Randy Moss played against inferior competition. And Leaf was good that year but not good enough.
Charles Woodson deserves to be in the NFL "Hall of Fame". He had a great NFL career. Congrats.
