This is the most tenacious, alert, aggressive, fast, intense, ballhawking hit stick player I've ever seen. No one even comes close. All around beast of a player. How can one tackle so soundly and cover so well, and run like a running back with the ball? impossible stuff.
@@dustinsirois4788 I remember watching Sean as a Hurricane and a Redskin in real time, very well. He was almost effortlessly talented. He made it look THAT easy. With that said, Sean was NEVER better than Edward Reed. Ed is in the conversation of greatest overall defensive players ever, not just at safety. Had Sean lived and stayed healthy and kept himself out of off the field issues, he certainly would have been a HOF and possibly the best safety of his era, but Ed in all likelihood would have still been the standard.
@Riles3152 I don't disagree but that's in the pros, work ethic, studying with Ray Lewis etc alot goes into that. I'm just saying coming out of the U sean was considered a better talent and people thought he'd be a better safety. That happens alot tho players that look amazing and just don't hit that ceiling in the league. What I really want4d to see tho that may have unlocked Sean in the pros was when they drafter that juice head safety Landry. Having him in the box and letting Sean truly play FS.
@@dustinsirois4788 That's a fair point. Ed did have the benefit of playing his whole time in Baltimore with fellow U alum Ray Lewis and not to mention T Suggs one of the best pass rushers of his era. If were just basing it on both players at the U, then yea I can definitely understand why people would favor Sean Taylor. He was just beginning to come into his peak as a pro...
The goal line stand vs Boston College to save the season, in which Ed Reed rips the pick away from Walters and houses it, will forever go down as one of the greatest plays in Canes history. Legendary!
@@ProjectChaos77 -I agree Ed Reed was a beast when he came out of high school I think Ed was rated as a 2-star. The guy played like a 5-star all throughout his career.

Im a baltimore native, and even though our offense wasnt nothing to write home about during the early 2000s, having Ed Reed from day one was big play after big play that always bailed our bad offense out. Greatest safety ever.
Belichick said of Reed's incredible punt rushing abilities; "If I had him I'd never have taken him off the field on 4th down." Makes you feel like maybe he was under utilized, crazy as that may sound.
NFl scouts are just as good at assessing talent as the die hard NFL fan. the facts that 3 (!?!) DBs were taken in front of Reed in 2002 is insane. I guarantee you none of those DBs had better film in college. Scouts just end up outthinking themselves.
At around 1:02 - how about the awareness of #98? Knows he can't react spin enough for his own pursuit and sees he's about to get in Ed Reed's way and does one of those "excuse me" moves and allows Ed a clear path for the rundown! Unsung here #98 !
This man was the best college safety and pro safety of all time ...... man I love Ed Reed
Troy for the Steelers was close, I would interchange them 1 and 2
But Ed Reed is definitely a top tier HOF safety
Woulda been Sean Taylor if we are being honest
@@shaneslyter5347 no it wouldn't lol yall delusional
@@SeanD30 Sean was a better hitter and tackler, so it’s possible.
Sean Taylor was better than Ed Reed in College.
Yes that includes Ball hawking, Sean Taylor tied for most ints with 11 his final year.
I love this Edward Reed guy, can’t wait to see him in the NFL someday
First dude to block a punt so quickly,he got kicked by the punter
Legend
That's crazy
Punter kicked him on purpose too 🤣
saw that lol with the double feet kick too.
Just think Sean Taylor had this guy to take notes from
Sean was gettin in during the blowouts, seen him and antrelle rolle and Ed Reed celebrate together on many plays

To think everyone literally everyone from the U says Sean Taylor was better than Ed. I will forever wonder what Sean could have been in the NFL.

Good to see a good canes fan, the U was unstoppable back then .
Bc had to be glad to see 20 graduate he had so many big plays against them
Reed was a real beast.
Madryboi Madry he was a ball hawk is whole career. From his days at Miami to the pros in Baltimore. First ballet HoF in my book.

Hurricanes haven't had play makera like Reed for a while now.
Taylor was the last one as of recent

Simply put, one of the greatest, most brilliant defensive players and overall players in the history of football.
Yall know how much talent was on this team that were backups!

He played on the punt return team with the ravens but after a while they took him off special teams
My favorite defensive player in school history. "Hell naw I ain't alright. I'm hurt, dog!". E-Reed was the truth! THE U
Boston College halftime speech
To Ed Reed. I dropped a tear watching this bra. Love you OG
This kid, Edward Reed, might prove to be a pretty good pro!!
Who the hell is "Edward Reed"? 😂
B You slow?
@@lukec2666 Not as slow as you my friend. Someone who doesn't understand obvious sarcasm.😅
I know it's his name but it drove me crazy everytime they said it also😂
2:45 best play of Ed Reed’s collegiate career
Good hands, toughness, good closing speed, ability to get low, natural hitter. Could go pro.
We see all the int's Ed had in these highlights, think about the ones he barely missed but had hands on!
The play in which he strips his teammate and takes it to the end zone is my favorite play of all time.
My love for this man saves and love goes beyond belief of character or life or death that's what it feels like to truly be taught unrunable love ❤️ ❤
Ten toes down i love Edward reed he from where im from louisiana lol

The baddest db boy
Knock you off your feet boy
We ballin boyz

I’m guessing like me your a Miami Boy, WE BALLIN’ BOYS!
Miami ain’t been balling for 20 years now
The best db not baddest and Miami will be back soon maybe four years
The G.O.A.T. of SAFETIES BEST I have EVER SEEN in my TIME!!!
One ☝🏾 of the greatest of all time
Ed Reed is the only defender who can get blown up off the block and still strip the football. This is what greatness looks like.
I can't believe Ed played all four years..
man that's one hell of a safety... I bet he'll be drafted highly in the first round for sure
This guy is pretty good. He would do well for the Ravens, we need a safety.
Too much hype, who plays at a trash school like Miami?? Huge bust
Welcome back
2:45 even when not making a play he made a play. crazy!!!

Its a shame ED REED didn't win a couple of Jim Thorpe awards. College football media is full of shit.
Ronnie Lott , Ed Reed , Brian Dawkins are three best safety's of all time. I like how these three play.
william Roberts And you left out Sean Taylor? 😐
@@ProjectChaos77 didn't play long enough and wasn't at that level

Difference between Ed Reed and all the rest ppl who played safety, Ed could've been a HOF as corner too.

Who was better Ed Reed or Sean Taylor at Miami? Sean Taylor. But Ed Reed was better than Sean Taylor in NFL.
That’s why he was injured he sacrificed his body for the ball every play THE BALL HAWK
Ed Reed, "Nearly intercepted." Malik Hooker, "Intercepted." Ed Reed isn't another Malik Hooker.
They were really calling the dawg by his full government. 😂
2001 Hurricanes would have had a shot at making playoffs through 2019 Afc East if they were there. They were that great
0:50... Will tell the next 15_20 years
Hearing Edward Reed just sounds wrong
When he got cut down and still forced a fumble
Somebody saw all this and decided to take T.J. Duckett......after signing Warrick Dunn already....wtf
14:09 this dummy really said “Eric Reed”
Listening to these commentators call him “Edward Reed” is hilarious.
