I particularly like this body specially with your great looking paintjob. It resembles a 2 door 4runner. I never liked this body until you revealed the camper body. Great choice! Loving this build keep it up.
Ain't these Trail-truck/Crawlers just the best? Out in nature getting good cardio while your amazingly obedient RC entertains and delights. Or just sitting on a stool in the shade with your electro-mechanical pet crawling through yours or a neighboring rock garden or rock pile.
nice one, closer terrain to what i see here in NZ. only thing missing was a stock trx4 to compare lines (driving lines that is) with the portal delete. paint job looks great. i always enjoy seeing your builds getting used. think the engine temps would still be an issus with the lower gearing in the 2 speed?
Louder? I can't say I noticed any difference because of the skid. The only reason it's louder, if it is at all, is because there's not as much reduction.
Nice video, the first scratch is always the hardest. The dark forest really makes that paint job pop. Now I’m off to see what that slacker in Cali is up to. 😉
The front axle seems to be really light. It seems like that front end is always up in the air the moment the ground isn't level or you hit a bump/obstacle.
@@scalebuildersguild I noticed it a couple times.. @2:08 and again @2:20.. maybe it's the way you edited the video/slowed the playback down.. I don't know. Maybe it's normal..
Love how the truck looks now. Looks like it runs great without the portals. Seeing as how portals are the TRX4’s big selling point, if you are just going to delete them, seems it would make better sense to buy a different truck.
Enjoying the build off! Pretty sick paint job. I love the attention to detail. Hey were you going to offer the file for that mount? I would like to print one. Great idea btw!!
Scale Builder's Guild oh ok. pretty new to the 3D printing thing. Gotta learn about the different plastics. Thanks. I’ll be getting one from the store then. Thanks for designing that.
Thank you for installing the portal delete kit. I know this is something that I would not be interested in.... The whole time during the video I was thinking this build should have had lights installed so we could see.... Nice build I learned allot from both And yes...I am a fan of orange also. 👍
Absolutely loved it. The only thing I would have liked to have seen in the video where the lights in action. Also on that note, I would love to see you paint the front plastic grill and the rear piece as well. Essentially The black plastic parts that came with the lights. Other than that its looking fantastic!
That was nice of Josh to send you his nice's body, that's his best paint work todate. Lol. Looking forward to the portal delete follow up video. Wondering what you thoughts are.
So what is your opinion portal or no portal. I finally got to take my sport build out with the delete kit and thought it pretty much outperformed my equally matched defender TRX4 with portals. Being a oval guy I have scaled and both were close on front to rear weight.
Man you have a great spot to go trailing! I've been watching a bunch of your old videos too, some cool stuff! This truck looks great, the cage in the body is cool too, I always liked how you did that with the scx10 Cherokee! Can't wait for your thoughts on how this drives with straight axles! I think the only way it would make sense to me to delete them is if Traxxas made a kit for it, which wouldn't be that much of a stretch to me, they could make it in plastic like the rest of their stuff, which I'm generally happy with, and sell it for like $30 like the slash lcg kit or something. Great video!
Scale Builder's Guild I just got the motor installed, with the hobbywing 1080 it’s an awesome combo. I noticed the trans is louder on these rigs. More grease wouldn’t quiet it down anymore would it. Lol
Cool run vid but wish it had been longer and was a bit dark and gloomy at points in that forrest. Where da sunshine buddy. We need to see that bright paint job in some rays matey!😉👍
I wish I could control the weather. After being away all weekend, the only day left to film was this thunderstorm ridden day. There'll be more running vids, I want to do a comparison.
So I know this is an old video, but I really like the idea of the portal delete with the SSD kit. Love getting to see it in action. I've been looking into it, but I wouldn't want to lose too much gearing, which seems to be everyone's primary concern with the kit. It seems like an underdrive kit for the transfer case would be the perfect solution to delete portals but maintain the same gear reduction. It doesn't seem Traxxas or aftermarket offers that yet though. I'd be curious to see if you had any ideas on it. I'd love to be able to keep the 2-speed and locking diffs, delete the portals and gear the transfer case to 2:1 to keep factory gearing, and maybe even add this custom dig unit made by dexter's designs - ruclips.net/video/5mKjg_NCPng/видео.html. I'm new to r/c, and maybe i'm overthinking this, would a properly selected brushless motor and esc be able to make up for the loss of gearing and be able to both crawl and go faster for running on trails?
Looks good without the portals giving it that lower center of gravity and that body is killer with that paint job , also if anyone starts up that team , sign me up
That portal delete kit is bad. 1. It is pricey 2. You loose all of that gear reduction 3. You loose ground clearance. What do u gain? 1. Lcg 2. NOTHING! See, this is y I think that the ssd rc portal delete kit is not worth the price.

The truck looks good. Nice run video, A little ray of sunshine in a gloomy forest!!
My retinas are permanently damaged from the Harley inspired paint.
One of the hardest trailing vids I've ever seen. I kept expecting the lights to turn on to a beat drop lol

It is a sport. It is only a single speed
Single speed, but I’m addressing gearing.
I'm glad you kept the video length respectable, very nicely done too!
Glad to see my truck is not the only sport that got louder after installing the Bowhouse RC high clearance skid
Louder? I can't say I noticed any difference because of the skid. The only reason it's louder, if it is at all, is because there's not as much reduction.

Great edit 👍🏻 That colour is truly hideous - I mean that in the nicest possible way :)
Couldn’t agree more.
Which did you think drove better, with or without portals? Also how did driving the deletes compare to say an scx10 II?
I'd say without. It's loweer CG aided tremendously in climbs. I'll do a proper side by side test ASAP.
@@scalebuildersguild I was going to ask the same.
Tho , not something I'd do...I like my portals.
@@scalebuildersguild this will be awesome to know
The front axle seems to be really light. It seems like that front end is always up in the air the moment the ground isn't level or you hit a bump/obstacle.
Not sure I'm seeing what you are. It's overdriven, so the front axle is going to pull more. Don't forget there's a big heavy battery down the center.

Maybe? There's a lot to like in the chassis layout and I wouldn't throw out the baby with the bath water.
Liking the lowered stance of this. Care to expound a bit on the need to gear down after that portal delete in the next vid please? 🙂
Portals add a lower gear ratio to the mix...
I willc ertainly do that. If you don't reduce the gearing, you could melt your motor. ;)

@@henryurbina2555 I wouldn't suggest printing at home. PLA won't hold up to the stress in my opinion, hence why I offer it on Shapeways only.

Heh, it was a dark thunderstorm day when I filmed, can't fix the weather I'm afraid.
@@scalebuildersguild Can't fix the weather?...uhg!....I new it.
Blame it on the weather but isn't that a light bar on the front bumper?
Is it just me or does the truck sound way louder now? Is that due to the delete kit?
@@nursinggerm2009 the delete kit makes it faster so you loose all of that gear reduction and torque. So maybe that's why it sounds different.
Nice truck and great video, I enjoyed it, hope to see some mirrors, door handles and wipers in the future to scale it up a bit.

the rig still with stock pinion and spur gears ??? do not look to be so fast as I expected.
It's way faster, I'm filming in slow motion and only using 25% throttle. It screams. I'll be gearing down.
Awesome running video as always. Truck performs well; you chose your lines well for someone who lowered their center pumpkins. 😉
