This game is pretty great, shame the Mans of Medans never really lived up to the expectations people had after this. A really great way to take such a tired "stereotypical teens in a secluded cabin" slasher film and somehow make it interesting. In terms of an LP, did anyone else feel like this went really smoothly? Like the boys never complained or got stuck, and ended up with the *good* ending, which is wild.
I'm just glad at least House of Ashes is good. I did see that they're going back to add in stuff to Man of Medan and Little Hope so hey maybe that'll make it better.
too bad “The Stranger” got killed so fast after revealing himself as an ally. I understand why it happened from a story perspective, but he’s a really cool character

The other characters do mention it, but the game does a trick where most of the plot is carried by Sam and Mike after the reveal. This is because every other character can be killed off before the finale, but they (Mike and Sam) actually cannot. So they do most of the heavy lifting plot-wise. Matt and Jess are almost entirely forgotten about because they can both die the earliest. Jess if Mike isn't fast enough, and Matt with the Moose on the Cliff. Emily can die as early as the mines. Chris can die when he goes outside to rescue Josh. Ashley can die in the mines after that. You'll notice that after these crucial moments the other characters become less important to the overall development. This is so the creators could avoid having to truly make multiple endings as that would be a massive workload. So instead it's a pretty linear story with the appearance of choice. It's very effective for your first playthrough though!
Thinking about this game... I thought there was going to Until Dawn 2 where the group are all placed in a psychiatric hospital (BECAUSE NO ONE believed them and they all assume they're crazy) and Josh, now Wedingo, goes to hunt them down and kill them all with his psyche intact so even crazier than before- Oh wait, this sounds like Friday the 13th. Never mind.
Sounds like Friday the 13th how? I mean the only sort of similarity I see is with Part 2 in Jason returning from his apparent death to avenge his mother's killer (which I guess is what Josh would attempt now that he's super crazy and still resentful over the death of his sisters, though Josh at the end of the game seemingly forgives himself and them so I'm not sure how well that'd work), but what you describe still sounds quite distinct and something that could work. Until Dawn is still a pretty tropey slasher story, after all, and it owns up to it (I guess much like F13 did), a sequel like that could be pretty interesting, now dealing with an even more threatening wendigo.
The Quarry and House of Ash were both good actually, yeah. They had their flops though, Man of Medan was painfully uninteresting and the only other thing they ever did with this IP was a weird onrails shooter for fuckin PSVR.
I still can’t get over the fact that they bumblekinged their way into an absolutely perfect run through. Golden ending and all.
Late. They got a win before the complete fumble that was the first Detroit playthrough.
Bumbleking will always remain an amazing, made-up phrase.
It's kinda insane how Crazy Talk can make Pat wrong both instantly and weeks into the future
His stand saved those kids lol
His stand is both a passive and an instant ability
It’s not a stand anymore it’s a beyond

Yeah, this is one of my favourites of theirs. It’s always entertaining to go back and rewatch, and really feels like one of the best of their era

i love how emily is introduced and the second after pat is like "she the BITCH!"

To be fair if I saw a gorilla I would be so excited I would just shout "gorilla gorilla gorilla!"
Thank you

Still funny how Sam is Kairi's VA in KH1 and KH2.
And now Jessica is Namine’s va!

Until Dawn is such a good fucking story, it'd make for a perfect monster flick.
Didn't the devs talk about making a live action adaptation a while back?

So what's confusing me is that they aren't talking about the wendigo. Except sam.

The Zaibatsu and Neebs have the best playthrough of this stupid game
Honestly?
I'm glad Matt and Pat aren't going to cover Dark Pictures or The Quarry.
Those games are "fun" at best. Not good, or even close to this.
House of ashes is good
I would love for Matt and Pat to play the Quarry, if that’s what it takes to reconnect them

This game was such a fluke lmao. The Quarry, the "Dark Pictures Chronicles" games. They all fucking suck.
