awesome to watch!!! i am consistently late to the party, and only just watched Midori and Hobonichi systems this past month. Honestly if i was Cinderella i would not have left the house in time to make it to the ball. I am very excited to try this because I prefer homemade things and this is PERFECT. I do mixed media work and like to bind the folios into books when i am complete with them. This will give me the absolute perfect space to hold my work while in progress. And because i work in file folder size the hanging folders are perfect and i have an abundance in my studio. So very happy to have found your page.
So cool, I want quick and easy, I don’t want messing around, I don’t need a thick book, I will watch over and over, plus look at the original, but I think this will be a style I use for myself, Thank you, I’m interested to know if several years later you still use this style, Thanks xx😁🧡🇬🇧
It has been awhile since I used this style. Not because I didn't like it, simply because I enjoy the process of binding signatures with a pamphlet stitch. But this one is a great one to get a journal made quickly and simply for use.
Thanks so very much! I have been pondering on a binding that would allow me to change signatures easily. I think this would be a great binding for a leather bound art journal. I'm off to try it now!!!
thank you for doing this video you made it simple and easy to understand I have been struggling with bindings. you've inspired me to try again. and great idea using file folder dividers I see those a lot in my thrift store.
Thank you very much for the easy tutorial and I agree with how easy and flexible this type of book can be. As far as increasing the book size, I would do for myself a volume 1, 2, or 3 etc. I love it!
Hi Debbie thank you so much for this tutorial. I have followed along and now it's done, the only problem I've had is that I made my signatures different sizes but I don't think it looks too bad. I am now going to put some pockets etc on to the pages. Thank you once again I have saved this in my favourites so I don't loose it and also it's so quick to make. My scrap drawer is now a little bit less cluttered xxxx
THANKS DEB! I enjoyed this video so much...your timing couldn't have been more perfect. I have been wanting to try this kind of binding out, and can't wait to give it a go now! I will also check Ray Blakes instructions as you suggested. xo
I'm enjoying watching your videos! They're so informative and easy to follow and I'm looking forward to trying this method. I haven't made my own 'book' yet, but I'm watching all your 'book' videos and you make it look easy enough for me! ;-) Thanks so much for sharing your talent and your ideas with us!
you make everything look so easy. and it turns out so nice .I've done twine binding before but never tried this .will have to now for sure .hope mine turns out as well as yours .TFS
This is a lovely job to create a workable solution for binding junk journals. Would you be willing to share specifically what book binding cloth you used for this type of file material and where you get it from? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. ❤
Hi Julia, I purchased book cloth remnants from a seller either on eBay or Etsy, but it was almost 10 yrs ago so that's as specific as I can get. I think there's book cloth tape that could do a similar job, or even canvas/fabric. Thank you for watching!
@@debbieanneEVG thank you for such a quick response! I’m looking to do a journal where this sane hanging file material will be used but also given a faux leather texture. There are so many talented artists on RUclips and I’m learning so much! I’m really excited about this new project, as Ju k Journaling is new for me Yes, I’m way behind the curve but am now retired and finding fun things to keep me busy in my craft room! Thank you again for your willingness to teach us all!
I would imagine that if you had a wider spine you could make multiple holes for more signature pages? Like say double the ones you had in this video; use TWO elastic bands through 2 sets of holes in the spine that would hold the 3 signatures each?
Thank you for your video with elastic binding for book. I'm looking for a way to put a large book together. I've sewn it and it did not come out well. I'm wondering if I can use ribbon instead of bookbinding thread? And unfortunately the phone are huge and it looks just terrible. This is my first foray into book binding and making a journal. Thanks so much if you have any suggestions for me I would love to hear them. Thank you very much.😊
Could share with me what size eyelets you use if your journal is made from chip board? And where can I find a roll of black or gold elastic for binding? Thank you so much...I love this video, it has helped me a lot. 😀
I'm not sure I understand the eyelet question but i typically use my Cropadile tool to punch holes and set 3/16" eyelets. Elastic cording can be purchased in craft stores and fabric.stores. This project was so long ago that I can't remember where I ordered mine but it could have been Amazon. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the helpful info! I'll be starting my first book, I'd love to use the Japanese driil, what's the name, etc. so I can look for it? Take care!! Tree
You could punch your elastic holes in the spine beside each other instead of over each other like this one, and then have 2 signatures together on each elastic. I hope that makes sense.
I was only going to use just 2 signatures. Do I still use 2 cords, or do they both go in the same cord? Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It was really helpful!
You'll see if you create it, that you must either have one signature or three. The only way to create this with 2 signatures is to punch the cord holes side by side and inserting them that way.
Hi Deb (Is that ok I call you Deb?) I like this Easy Elastic For Quick Journals. I like the fact that you made it from the green File Folder. I have several and I'm going to try one. Also, I like that Japanese tool you ave. Where can I purchase one? It seems to make things easier with that tool.
Thank you for this video and the link to Ray Blake's video as well. I really want to make these as a gift, but I'm afraid that the receiver won't know how to use them later. Do you find that to be the same for yourself?
It was a long time ago but it may have been 2 or 3mm? What I can tell you is that the quality varies greatly, so if you can find some in person rather than online, you'd have a better idea by the tightness. My first purchase back then was too stretchy.
I've been looking for a drill lunch similar to yours, and can't find one. I get all sorts of listing for industrial metal drills! Can you share where you bought yours?
Thanks sooooooooooo much for this!!! Plus you saved me money! I don't have to go buy leather now! Thanks thanks thanks! How many pages did you use for your signature? ~Debbie
I can't express to you how grateful I am for this video. I return to it again and again when I need a reminder. Thanks for your generous sharing!

I am amazed how you can make it so easy to make junk journal binding quickly and easily embellishes later on.

Easy and fast way to bind a Journals-i love it.Is it possible to put more signatures in it , maybe with more elastics?
I love your tutorial, so clear and easy to follow. Thank you.
Great tute on how to construct a TN journal and the elastics configuration. Very helpful. TFS. 🤗
I am so impressed with this binding system I think even I can make a book like this.Thank you for showing me how it is done.

You miss are one smart cookie. I love this idea and thank you for showing us how. 😁👏❤🖐
Thanks, I can't take the credit for the concept, that goes to the Japanese, but I'm glad you enjoyed my version :)
Perfect for swappung out signatures.
Yes, so easy! 😊
Thanks, have never seen this type of binding before. Now I've got something new to try.

This one is a simple way to bind a journal: ruclips.net/video/ABJnKBTHTY4/видео.html
I'm intrigued with these books, but I don't know what a signature is...looks like some folded paper? Do you have a video about making those? Thanks.

heehee yes they do, thank you

I REALLLLLY enjoyed this tutorial...you're a great instructor!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! How do I do, if I have 4 signatures?
You could punch your elastic holes in the spine beside each other instead of over each other like this one, and then have 2 signatures together on each elastic. I hope that makes sense.
@@debbieanneEVG thank you, yes, makes sense. Will try that! 🫶🏼💕♥️🦋🌸

Thank you. : -)
super , merci beaucoup

Jill I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean how to add and remove the inserts?
Yes. They may not understand that concept.
Do you know what rhe thickness of your elastic is? I made a sample, and it came out great, but was wondering if my elastic was too wimpy.
It was a long time ago but it may have been 2 or 3mm? What I can tell you is that the quality varies greatly, so if you can find some in person rather than online, you'd have a better idea by the tightness. My first purchase back then was too stretchy.
Beautiful project 🤗🤗🤗
Love this tutorial! Will this type of binding work with a hard cover or a chipboard book?
I haven't tried it on a hard spine cover. I wonder if you could get the elastic tight enough. It's definitely worth a try!
just what I have been looking for. thank you
Thank you for sharing.
HELLO GOOD INFORMATION
WHAT SIZE CORD DO YOU BUY THANKS
Hello it was so long that I don't remember. It may have 2mm or 3mm?
