  • Hi friends,
I am bringing you a quick tutorial on how to make a button closure for your junk journal, art notebook, travel notebook or journal. Soon, I will have buttons and elastic cord in the shop that match each month's notebooks.
For now, I am using what I have on hand.
The kit I am using is the Friends Everyday Notebook Kit here: journalsforlif...
The Girl Talk kit comes with a button closure in the embellishment pack. journalsforlif...

love the button with the leaves on it. It would be easy enough to diy the buttons too - two or three circles punched out of even simple files folders with a 1" circle punch, glued together, 2 holes punched with a 1/8" hole punch, and a rubber stramped image on it, Voila. Just add elastic cord. Thanks. I needed to see this. Perfect timing.

Such a great idea. So much better than trying to glue ❤❤

I always forget to glue in time, and I like my ends hidden. I like this type much better than ribbon.

We used to call it hat elastic, it was used to keep the hat on your head.

Is there a special thickness of elastic cord you buy? I see on Amazon they have different thicknesses. Thank you!

Hi, I heard of someone using elastic and then what they call a "pull" to close their book. Are you familiar with that term? It looked like a little knob and wanted to get some but dont know if that was a correct word to use.

You're probably talking about a wood toggle. There are also draw string closures too.
